This is exactly what this movie feels like. Some glittery weird property from the 80s/90s that's all about camp and absurdity turned into something dour and brooding.

A helmet that looks anything like an animal's face is a million times more memorable and cool looking than one that's just random alien spikes and zigzags like this shit.

Red ranger helmet looks like a T-rex, Blue looks like triceratops, Pink looks like Pterodactyl, and yellow looks like a saber-tooth tiger. The only one that doesn't look like an animal is Black.

As long as it's faithful to the source material and can have a sense of humor at appropriate times, I won't be upset. Sure the designs are weird, but yeah, it is kind of hard to make something that looks very outdated look nice and modern. The problem, though, is that when you do, the simplicity is taken out of it.

That's the problem with the designs as a whole--they look vaguely familiar, but try to be so original and techno-oriented that patterns and what not are taken away, the same with the charm.

Rita, however, is pretty inexcusable though. Literally nothing about her reminds me of Rita Repulsa. She /does/ however look like a bland old Power Ranger villain, so props to them their?
