Ice was dead at the time. Icemaiden was her replacement of sorts. So Icemaiden basically guilt-tripped Fire into dating her, trying to imply that Fire and Ice were more than just friends and that Fire could count on her to "heal". Instead Guy and Fire ended up counting on each other.
