And the Cosmic Emperor, The God King of All Reality, tears open reality into the room, gifts her with the Key to All Universes, and then gets decapitated by a flight of rogue angels.

Yeah. Seriously.

The art is intricate, the background and story is even more intricate. You can try and binge it, but if you do, then you'll have to read it it over again a few times to pick up on everything you missed.

Oh, you'll also want to read all the short stories and side-bars, they're flippin' great and help you grasp the world a lot better.

Well,they've flaws and insecurities which are exposed in the story at times (like White Chain being sort of a weirdo among angels for manifesting personality traits beyond its assigned task as an angel, or the suggested past of Cio as an ebon devil). Also, in the case of certain main characters (like Cio and the Mendicant Knight) their motives are not completely clear,and that adds flavour and interest in their development.

White Chain's only defining characteristic is genderqueerness, Allison is the standard anime everyman, Cio looked like the only character with some kind of personality until the 'fanfiction writer' bit, turns out she speaks with an accent and that's it.

The last one really doesn't sound any better. It's hard to make that question sound non hostile, because it usually is to a degree, but give that person the benefit of the doubt because arguing about what someone meant is pointless when it's vague enough that people can read it any way. And to answer the question, the main cast is all female at the moment, the supporting cast is very mixed and the main cast is supposedly going to have some changes in the future. Also technically White chain isn't female.

I didn't get here until after the other assblasted anons, but Abby has said that the motley crew of protagonists is going to be mostly female. He implied that Zaid (Allison's boyfriend, the guy with the greaser jacket) will become more active and helpful to her later on in the story, but not necessarily that he'd join the others.

Also, the Pursuers have plenty of males amongst them, and will likely have more and more primary characters as they get narrowed down.

Personally, I'm hoping for a vignette from Murderbaby's perspective.
