Okay, I'll explain.

For some people, merely enjoying a consumer product is not enough. They have to build up a mythology and pseudo-religion around the product in order to justify the time, energy and other resources they have spent on the consumption of that product. Hypercrisis is just that, an insistence that superheroes transcend reality, so that the consumer can avoid feeling like the numerous hours and hundreds of dollars spent on them were wasted.

The way i see it... everything published is canon. I mean, even something forgotten was still made; still exists. It's just not applying in the moment on the current continuation, but in it's closed universe it exists. To me this hypercrisis just looks like trying to justify writer's fuck up with 'not muh canon', or sell some fan-fiction. The whole concept doesn't need to exist, but i can understand how that may influence writers.
