For me it ended completely with season 16. After that it gets really boring the plot premises and it flanderizes all the characters. Not to mention all the cultural references. 1 episode is alright like the Warcraft episode, but having a 3parter centered around Black Friday and Game of Thrones is already jumping the shark. Especially 2/3 of it is complete filler.

>implying the show hasnt always been about """cultural references"""", as you put it

This. OP is just too underageb& too get it.

I've never watched South Park except some scenes in tv. If I wanted to watch it, should I stop at some season or the quality isn't really going down?
>>
Dunno what the fuck you're on.

Last three seasons have been the best thing the show's ever done, and I can forget the 17 seasons before that. Excluding Scott Tenorman, which is the hall of famer.

i stopped watching ever since p.c guy came very dissappointed in SP but on another note you should watch archer and venture bros. so much better than that gay hipster show.

Obviously. I dunno about OP but that's never been a problem, personally.
Speaking for myself though (again, obviously, but half the people on here are actually retarded), the problem is that the past few seasons have been almost exclusively pop culture references.
It's like that's the only jokes they know how to do anymore or something. I dunno if they just felt like they've tapped out all the character humor they could or what.

At first I really liked the serialized format (especially since the previous season was probably my least favorite), but it's starting to drag for me.

Instead of having the pop culture as a vehicle for the character humor (or as something for them to riff on and whatnot), or as a stand alone joke, it's now the whole thing. It's no longer about all these hilarious characters in a wacky town; it's a 20 minute cartoon about what was on the news last week.

No, watch all of it. There are some highs and lows but it's not like the simpsons or something where there is a clear decline.

I miss the individuality of the episodes and the interaction between the boys when they were doing kid things like playing in Cartman's mom minivan. Still, I'm enjoying the new seasons.

>underageb&

I feel like the only people who use that as an argument/insult are either underaged or recently turned 18 or something. the only person here who is obviously underaged is this guy

>individuality of the episodes

that's something I've been missing but I couldn't put my finger on it.
SP used to have a lot of great episode premises, but they've sort of pigeonholed themselves lately. No more Satan, Jesus, Imaginationland, kenny, professor chaos, Mongolians, ect, now it's whatever was on the news.

>it's a 20 minute cartoon about what was on the news last week.

This is my issue with it as well. Too many episodes are popular movie x pop culture reference of the week, Ipad x Human Centipede, Hoarders x Inception, Thor x Thanksgiving. You could tell they hadn't even watched Inception either, they parodied a Collegehumor sketch. In earlier seasons they made fun of movies as well but it was always combined with typical kid things like TPing a house or misunderstanding what a porno is. Nowadays they just look at social media and see what's trending even if it will be dated within a week, like that one anti-bullying video. I'm glad that they decided not to do Pokemon Go because not only would it have been dated before it could even air Trey and Matt don't understand things that teenagers and young adults enjoy very well, like social media, memes, and popular apps.
