Cartman was a functional retard in S1-4; he was literally retarded and on the receiving end of jokes about his mom being a degenerate whore and him being a fat fuck.

I can buy a change in Cartman given how badly PC Principal beat him (going back to the Dog Whisperer episode, it probably was the equivalent of what the Dog Whisperer and Cartman's mom did to him in that episode, times ten to break Cartman; except this time around, Cartman's mom doesn't have a crush on PC Principal that will end badly and lead to her undoing their hard work). Plus, SJW are the new evil in society, so it makes sense to rebrand Cartman a SJW thug.

That said, two things are bugging me about this storyline:

1. Cartman didn't report what the kids did to his mom and the police, especially since he was proven innocent. Most parents are super duper anal about making their kids take care of their tech since most can't afford replacements (assuming Cartman DID spring for insurance, which I would assume he WOULD have for at least SOME of his tech).

Also, I would have to assume/guess that even if Catman's mom is growing a spine and shit, that if Cartman told her what happened (and Kyle backed him up or even Butters backed him up, since the former would be guilt-stricken and the later terrified of retribution) she'd buy him a new laptop at the very least that very night.

2. Also of note; if the boys want to avoid the inevitable Scott Tennorman esque revenge Cartman will unleash, would it not make sense for the boys to man up and GIVE Cartman their own tech? Kyle gives him his laptop, Stan gives him his tablet, Butters or Token gives him their phone, etc.

It's weird that Cartman's whole character has all the qualities i usually hate about a person but he is my favourite character in South Park.

What scares me was the balls incident. Cartman admitted his scheme to get a head start on the inevitable gender war by rallying his boys. It was weak, futile, and didn't begin to live up to what he has to do to explain his recent complacency. That has to be a red herring right? He wanted that scheme to fail all along so no one would suspect he had a secret better scheme running in the background?
I'm worried.

Cartman hasn't tattled on the other boys because he's still dealing with the relatively new concept (to him) of guilt introduced to him via social justice. IE he knows he's a monster and hasn't sought vengeance or justice or restitution because the destruction of his toys was karma for his past sins and crimes.

So long as Cartman feels that he deserved to have his toys broke, he won't seek revenge. But if his new gal pal rejects him or he finds out Kyle's dad was the troll, then all bets are off.

That said, they really should have done a scene where Kyle offers either his tablet or phone or laptop to Cartman and he rejects it. Which in turn would have made the ending with Gerald desperately trying to delete everything, all the more frantic, in terms of him thinking he had destroyed everything but the proof of his crimes being on the device Kyle gave Cartman, which was never reformated/wiped before being given to him. And that eventually, Cartman would find the evidence that Gerald was the troll on it and go on his rampage.

At this point, they have written themselves into a corner and anything short of Cartman actually being the better man and forgiving his friends and the entire incident being the "moment of clarity" for Cartman to grow the fuck up and stop being an evil shit, would be a disappointment.

A proper Eric Cartman revenge scheme would require the deaths of a good number of characters (Token, Butters, the other non-core four kids at the least and in the case of Stan and Kyle, the deaths of Ike, BOTH of Kyle's parents, Wendy, Randy*) to do justice to the level of revenge needed to pay off what was done to Cartman. Anything less than a Red Wedding level slaughter would be a let down and far from the operatic heights of revenge we know Cartman is capable of.

*Killing Stan's mom and leaving him to be raised by Randy would be more of a punishment yes, given that Randy is a horrible irredeemable shit, but Randy's death would have far more impact and probably fuck Stan up moreso, since he will be denied by Cartman ANY closure on their relationship, in terms of Stan telling his dad off when he's older and basically disowning him

I think Cartman won't try for revenge against PC Principal anymore. Especially since PC Principal has proven to be a character that has given the show a much needed shot in the arm.

If Cartman is playing the long game, it would be interesting if he's the guy blackmailing Gerald at the end of episode 3. He could bleed Gerald dry in blackmail money. They also could have Gerald reveal that he's known the truth about what a horrible bully Cartman is towards Kyle and Jews for quite some time and that the whole trolling thing started as a plot to frame Cartman as revenge, before he started loving trolling all together.
