I think this is the last thing to be done and that's surprising
So let's read a crossover that should have happened 20 years ago
>>86762982
>>86762982
Picked this up on a whim. I am vaguely familiar with He-Man and have never seen Thundercats. I did really enjoy the comic, though!
>I think this is the last thing to be done
No one has storytimed ASM.
>>86763004
>>86763035
>>86763022
I picked up the first issue of the last He-man run on a whim and followed it all the way until the end. I'm hoping a Thundercats on going springs from this
>>86763083
>>86763122
The art on this is pretty great so far
>>86762982
This looks awesome.
>>86763159
>>86763022JJJ Seniordies.
>>86763197
>not reading the comic book event of the year
>>86763241
>>86763277
>>86763308
>>86763083
Ah, this is dude who did art for Batman/TMNT. Wish he got more work.
I'm hoping they'll use as many He-Man characters as possible. The series has such a ludicrously huge cast.
>>86763335
Oh and could Battle Cat always talk?
>>86763345
That had some awesome art as well.
>>86763374
>>86763363
Well even Fisto was in the Throne room earlier so I'm hopeful
>>86763374
I can't remember.
>>86763374
In the first comics and the old cartoon, yes he talked.
>>86763409
If Rio shows up I'll officially mark out.
>>86763409
>>86763374
>Snout Spout and Extendar
Neat. Those guys never got their fair shake
>>86763442
>>86763446
Yeah this is already more Masters than the last run
>>86763486
>>86763521
>>86763550
>>86763575
>>86763601
And we return to the Barbarian look
>>86763635
>>86763664
>>86763695
>>86763728
>>86763486
It seems like the DC Comics Masters of the Universe is trying to be "modernized" instead of just embracing the "Conan for kids" craziness that made it so popular and fun to begin with.
>>86763767
And we're done. If you liked it please support the official release
>>86763788
What do you mean? The comics were always a little more serious than the 80's cartoon was
>>86763767
SKELETOR!!!
You awesome son of a bitch! It was all your plan!!!! What a fantastic ending to an amazing first issue!!!
>>86762982
The 80s called
it's happy.
>>86763767
You gotta love Skelly!
The best fictional villain ever! And he is kicking ass. So far his victories are impressive:
He kicked Supeman's ass twice (and the 2nd, the entire Justice League with him).
He destroyed Hordak.
He almost won in the Eternity War, if it was not for Adam's sacrifice.
And now he kicked Mumm-Ra's ass!
>>86763955
But then he always losses in the end. Truly the Thanos of Eternia
>>86763695
Cringer (with the heart of the lion or better a tiger) to the rescue! Best pet! Most badass war steed (as Battle Cat)!
>>86763767
Skeletor your beautiful bone faced bastard!
>>86763767
This whole thing was great, but this page? This is pure perfection.
>>86763345
What's with this guy and crossovers?
>>86764003
Because he has to. Only because he is the villain. Otherwise Skelly is really hard to lose. He is cunning as hell, he uses deception, manipulation, the element of surprise, strategy and tactics as no one else. The way that he defeated Hordak and the entire Horde Empire in the Eternity War, is an exampe of the most brilliant strategy. And in this issue the way tha he deceived and defeated Mumm-Ra (for this round at least), it's a further clue!
>>86764113
Dunno but I kinda want him to be on Green Lantern / Planet of the Apes
>>86764189
Skeletor finally got everything he wanted in Eternity War. It 's hard to top that other than him actually destroying the universe. But in saying that I wish this were a continuation
>>86763521
Dammit, I saw this coming a mile away.
>>86764311
Yeah but it was still great
If this has Faker at any point then this will be beyond awesome.
>>86762982
Awesome cover.
>>86763004
Awesome variant cover.
>>86764278
From what we know, this could be before the events of the 1st MOTU run. But i believe they go with the 80's versions, for having the crossover to be more new reader friendly.
But yes at the Eternity War, Skeletor was amazing. No villain after destroyed an empire, he could challenge his sworn enemy in such incredible way!
>>86763767
Oh SHIT! I admit, that legitimately surprised me, I was not expecting that.
>>86763159
Yeah, the art in this ended up being awesome.
>>86763241
>all those characters
this is already awesome
>>86763550
I loved this small moment between Lion-O and Panthro!
>>86763241
Can anyone name all these characters?
>>86763004
>That Evil-Lyn
>>86763241
>Ram-Man can't see shit cause he's a midget
>>86763122
Man the ancient spirits are dicks
>>86764630
Man- At Arms, Teela, Men-E-Faces, Fisto, Buzz-Off, Stratos, Ram-Man, Mossman, Roboto, King Randor and Queen Marlena.
>>86763241
>Nothing a good Fisto couldn't fix
l-lewd
>>86763521
BETRAYAL MOST FOUL!
>>86763486
This is gonna bite him in the ass, isn't it?
>>86764655
Skeletor is a necromancer. He always has been able to summon demons and spirits from other worlds or dimensions. This way probably he contacted the Ancient Spirits and make the deal with them. But yes the Ancient Spirits are dicks.
>>86763521
Adam you big dummy
>>86763575
fuck he is so fucked
>>86763601
dat one clever nigga
>>86763601
Am I the only one who kinda marked out at this?
>>86763575
Ah yes, Mumm-ra and his penchant for turning into sexy women in his various evil plots. Kind of surprising he never pulled an Aku/Ikra on Lion-O.
>>86763635
FUCK YEAH!
>>86763728
Wait, did they just kill this nigga in the first issue?
>>86763767
Genuinely did not see that coming.
>>86763767
>Mah boy Mumm-ra going out like a punk bitch
Boooo
fuck me, how is thundercats still straggling along
they had exclusive wilykit and wilykat figurines at sdcc this year yeah?
hello, outrageous ebay prices
>>86763767
Well that was an awesome ending.
>>86764975
He'll be back or the last fight I'm sure
Is this the highest quality thing ever done with He-Man?
>>86764988
The 80's never really died anon. It was the 90's that has fuck all surviving. When was the last time anyone mentioned the Street Sharks
>>86765022
The art seems a lot better than the older comics if that's what you mean.
>>86765022
The last run was just as good
>>86764788
He couldn't do anything. When the Sorceress commands, he has to follow her will. Mumm-Ra was well informed about Adam's connection with Grayskull. Too bad for him that he was also manipulated!
>>86763385
Right?
>>86764113
He didn't do much for DC. Batman/TMNT, odd Green Arrow and JSA issues, fucking Movement...
>>86765015
He will be back the 3rd issue.
"HE-MAN/THUNDERCATS #3
The ThunderCats team up to combat a new foe: Skeletor! And as young King Lion-O battles this evil from another world, he distracts Skeletor from an important fight against Mumm-Ra. With the Power of Grayskull hanging in the balance, who can possibly turn the tide of battle?"
>>86764975
Just for the round 1. Mumm-Ra will return very soon.
Give it to me straight, /co/. What are the odds of Space cop Mandora showing up in this? 100 to 1?
>>86765264
I wouldn't put any money on it mate
>>86765036
Yeah, but when they tried to reboot Thundercats it failed miserably. So I'm shocked new figures and comics are still being made this soon after
>>86765022
Abnett's previous run was superb.
>>86765478
Goddammit, that page is heartwarming...and gave me feels to boot.
>>86765478
>Skeletor being nice
>>86765264
that's a cool design. Why the hell isn't she more popular?
>>86765465
He-man had a reboot in the 90's that failed miserably and it still went on to get another cartoon in the 2000's. 80's nostalgia is a powerful thing.
>>86765545
Skeletor can be nice if he wants to. He was a prince of Eternia once. But he can also be a bastard, because he is well.... a bastard. This duality makes him such a great character.
>>86765712
Still read that in his cartoon voice
>>86763767
>Hahaha
>Not Nyahaha
Close enough
>>86763335
Snarff....
At least Orko is useful, with his magic.
>>86762982
bump
>>86763788
Actually this crossover is much closer to the nostalgia driven 80's version. Same designs, same looking characters. The only difference is the most serious tone in some parts. But MOTU since the 200X cartoon has always been more serious. Heck even the 80's mini comics and comics have been more serious than the Filmation cartoon.
>>86763335
Oh man I want a shitty broke-up old van with that bottom panel painted on the side of it.
>>86767172
anyone here who hasn't bought the Mini-Comics collection that Dark Horse put out, really should get it, as it's a wonderful collection, not to mention it's both huge and cheap
here's one of my favorite parts
>>86767479
This is the transition to the New Adventures, no? Something the cartoon never bothered to show or explain. At least in the mini comics they did.
And yes this is an awesome book!
>>86763695
Wow! Cringer attacked Mumm-Ra! And i loved his comment about Mumm-Ra insulting the cats!
>>86763635
Fantastic artwork by Williams is this page!
>>86763767
this is going to bite him in the ass somehow
>>86770399
For sure it's too early for Skelly to celebrate victory, since Mumm-Ra is coming back for a rematch in issue #3.
>>86763767
I thought the crossbones was a flower making the caption box look kinda effeminate.
>>86762982
I like how this He-man doesn't sounds like a dumb drone as in the previous series.
>>86771296
I don't think so, that this was the case in the previous series. Besides the crossover, has the same writers.

>>86763664
Ah the good old Heroic Fantasy days!
As someone whose literally never seen anything ThunderCats related and the only He-Man thing I've seen is the early 2000's animated series I can say that that was super fucking fun. It actually felt like it'd fit right in the the HB series.
Does DC/WB actually own these properties or do they just publish the comics? Do either have on-going's of their own?
>>86763345
I wish he would give the girly eyelashes on the dudes a rest.
>>86763446
W...was that a double entendre? It really doesn't help that most of the extra characters come off sounding like and resembling, power-wise, sex toys. Then again, they were created by the animation studio that had THE most heavily homosexual employee ranks in the 80's.
>>86773337
I think Warner owns them both. But that raises another question for me. Why were the Samurai Jack and Powerpuff Girls comics done through IDW when WB has their own comic division, one of the big two no less?
>>86771770
>10x speed
>Video is still 15 minutes long
Colorists don't get enough credit
>>86773591
They don't have to put money into it.
>>86773488
Oh yeah He-Man is queer as fuck and I say that as a straight man who loves the Masters of the universe. There's also Fisto and Ram-Man for Christs sake
>>86773630
So they just lease out the property to IDW and make money from them that way?
>>86773591
>>86773591
>I think Warner owns them both.
Wonder how long this has been the case? According to wikipedia Marvel published some WildCats comics before. That'd be pretty weird if they're owned by WB.
>>86773768
>>86773591
Nah I think it's Mattel who owns He-Man and Thundercats but they have a partnership with WB. It's why it was so important to get a toyline going for the last Thundercats cartoon
Who's ready for rage?
http://au.ign.com/articles/2016/10/05/he-manthundercats-1-review
>>86773870
That makes more sense.
>>86773337
Mattel owns MOTU but they've been partnered up with DC for a long time now (since like around the Justice League cartoon). Mattel also recently got the rights to do Thundercats figures, but I don't know if they own the rights outright.
>>86763728
>>86763767
Asshole Spirits of Evil, more like.
>>86764730
Looks more like betrayal most fowl.
>>86763277
second panel, next to cringer
>>86775799
Well it is He-Man
>>86767479
ho-lee-shit
i remember this so well
I even had the sword, it make strike noises and lit up when you hit things with it
>>86773488
Nope the cartoon has nothing to do with the creation of these characters. They created by Mattel as part of a toyline based on an alien techno-barbarian post-apocalyptic civilization. It was basically Frazetta for kids. In fact at the beginning this was supposed to be a Conan toyline.
>>86773686
He-Man married Teela at the end of the MOTU storyline, and they had a son. So this is BS.
>>86763374
>Oh and could Battle Cat always talk?
In the original pitch for the animated series Cringer "talked" but only the audience could hear him whereas Battle Cat could talk audibly. In the introduction sequence to the series Battle Cat was even to shout "And I have the power too!" when he gets zapped and transformed by the sword of power. If you look closely at his mouth you can see him mouth the words, though they chose to remove the voice line and just put music over it.
In execution however they started just letting characters in the cartoon also hear Cringer's lines, so I guess he was just a magical talking lion even before getting the power of Greyskull.
>>86773886
This must to be one of the most misinformed reviews and full of bullshit and lack of any knowledge about MOTU, apart from the 4-5 years old aiming Filmation cartoon. So let's start: Firts of all, my dear reviewer MOTU has been darker since 14 years now from the days of the 200X Era. This page comes from Trap-Jaw's origins pubblished by Image in 2003.
>>86777580
I know He-Man the character isn't gay you retard.
>>86777684
This is how Skeletor punished Kronis, for rising an army against him.
>>86773886
And the reviewer continues with his ignorant crap, by saying that they shoud hired a name for writing the crossover, because Giffen and Abnett, gave a more light tone to the previous comic run.
Again this is nothing to do with truth. Both Abnett's and Giffen's previous runs have been more mature in content than the 1st issue of the crossover. And for furthering proof, this comes from Giffen's run...
>>86777838
....and this comes from Abnett's run. So the review is full of misinformation.
>>86773886
And for ending the criticism towards this crap and biased review, the writing team of the crossover with the Thundercats, it's the same team that wrote the whole storyline of the previous DC He-Man comics that Giffen and Abnett, translate them to a comic book script. You can see their names on the paperbacks.
So again this review is full of misinformed crap. This the reason of why i donìt pay any attention to the so called comic book journalism and reviewing.
>>86773886
It's just a review. Others are different:

Can't wait for He-Man and Lion-O to become brothers at arms!
Thanks for the storytime!
See you next month!
"HE-MAN/THUNDERCATS #2
He-Man has lost control of his Power Sword...just as he’s forced to battle dozens of mutants and minions of evil from two worlds—Evil-Lyn, Slithe, Beastman, Jackalman and more! With only his bare hands for weapons, and with the Power of Grayskull never more vulnerable, will any man help He-Man stand against the forces of evil? Fortunately for Eternia, a new breed of heroes has arrived!"
>>86771457
My perception, actually. 2012 comics have Adam/He-man too brooding and plain because the writer wanted to write "Masters of Teela".
I recognize War of Ethernity gave him a little more character, though.
>>86763955
Just got this.
>>86780610
Ah yes in the first two volumes writen by Giffen. But once Abnett took over, Adam's character growth from the rebelious son, to the King that lead his people to freedom was impressive.
>>86763695
He-Man forget the damned sword. This is the chance to take back your fucking battle axe.
