I always feel bad reading Landis' shit because of how much he bugs me, but eh. This got good reviews.

Pretty good so far

Good start despite the siege being very predictable due to the marriage proposal and overall happiness level

Gruesome wife to be's death lets me know what kinda shit to expect here

Honestly could go either way, decent foundation but a lot of things have good starts and fall flat

So this does nothing for me, and this comic does nothing for me. Putting this author blurb in is something Mockingbird did too: this story is freaky, and I have to take time to tell it, so give me the first five issues. Do you trust that? It's hard to. Look at Shade which released today and how much that set up without needing to promise you buy-in instead of showing it.

This whole issue was bad. I was kind of out on the dialogue ASAP (same deal with Lake of Fire) but even if you weren't nothing about the story sells anything to you. What's the best bunch of buddies adventure story? How much does it give to you and how quickly compared to this? Landis' set-up is bad: he's asking you to write in details in your head but they are generic details, it's the set of a fantasy movie you've seen a hundred times rather than anything interesting or original.

The blurb for this is:
>A disgraced group of four knights, once close friends, are given one last shot at redemption: kill a wizard, and slay his dragons. But there’s no such thing as wizards, dragons don’t exist, and nothing is as it seems in the town of Green Valley
So either we have things going massively offtrack next issue, in which case the hook should probably have been left at the end of this one, or we have some single supposed cool/inventive thing in a fight with a dragon or a wizard kinda like how Landis' Wonder Woman pitch was about this scene with Superman where he'd suck all the air out of her lungs.

also, the absolute fucking hilarity if it turns out her brother was gay for the grim knight guy and arranged the whole thing

I don't "hate" max landis, but I'm always bugged by how he writes his dialogue. It feels a little too try hard in terms of its humor to me, I dunno.

I thought American Alien had 2-3 fantastic issues, but a weak start and a weak end. It was like he had he had to fall back into his dialogue and character tics.

Hurry up Max and do the American Alien sequel already
