I make this thread every year. Few people, sadly, get as excited as I do. MIPJUNIOR is an annual event where studios from across the world gather at a convention and sell their shows to distributors and networks. It's the E3 of children's entertainment, and children's entertainment is at least 70% animation. Many of the animated programs presented there will go on to get several seasons, and some of them may even end up getting big on /co/ one day. And some of them will only be the subject of jokes.
Let's take a look at what's on offer.
This one appears to be a re-purposing of that Agent Fox movie, since the same company made both. They must have really liked that idea to keep making it over and over.
This one has potential. France makes a lot of good stuff.

Paprika has been in development hell for years. Hope it emerged unscathed. It looks cute.
Norm of the North specials? Oh boy!
This one is... vague. Guess you actually have to go to their booth to find out about the show.
I still have high hopes for Kitty Is Not A Cat.

Misha is a popular name.

Does Canada have a government mandate for this or something? There's literally been one in every Canadian show for the past 10 years.
Two magical shows with bunny sidekicks in a row. Go figure.
I don't have many images left, but I have to leave. I'll post more later if this thread is still up. I know most of these cartoons suck, but it's what it represents. Global animation. The industry. It's good stuff.
Seems interesting, anon.

It's not like the name Precure was too Japanese or anything.

Is there one of these pitch convention things but for cartoons aimed at pre-teens/teens? Or does that not exist? It would be our best bet to see pitches for more action oriented cartoons, since most of these seem to be in the Dora the Explorer range.

>‘Dougie Noir’- follows the adventures of the eponymous eight-year-old hero, who despite having been born to a circus life, dreams of growing up to be the world’s greatest detective. One slight problem- Dougie is more than a little challenged with paying attention and focusing on tasks, so details like gathering proof and finding evidence are annoying distractions for him. Luckily for Dougie, his best friend and partner Mnemonica Memoire is on hand to compliment Dougie’s shoot-from-the-hip style and together they make an indefatigable crime-busting team:
>The show was created by Kavaleer’s CEO Andrew Kavanagh, who designed Dougie with a very specific purpose in mind. “Roughly 10% of all kids suffer from some form of attention or hyperactivity disorder, but they don’t have a recognisable character on TV to root for who demonstrates the beneficial side of the condition, attributes such as hyperfocus,” he explains. “Dougie is by no means the first neurotypical character to feature in the detective genre- think Sherlock, Poirot, Monk, all the great detectives have an edge that society might stigmatise in some ways, but if channelled, can achieve incredible results.”
>ADHD is a condition routinely medicated in the United States but diagnosed celebrities such as Jim Carrey, Will.i.am and Michael Phelps have battled adversity and risen to achieve their goals through embracing their passions and injecting the extra measure of energy they have been born with into pursuing their dreams. “In Dougie, we want to put on the screen a character that not only inspires kids who are having trouble with this condition to follow their dreams, but every kid who might doubt their abilities just because their grades don’t stack up. Dougie might have a lot of obstacles to overcome, but he always wins,” Kavanagh says.

>Small enough to fit in a wizard's pocket, but capable of super-sized shenanigans, the playful Pocket Dragons are charmingly silly, kid-relatable little creatures who constantly turn life's simplest mountains into ill-advised, though well-intentioned (and wildly comedic) chaos. Whether it's a bubble bath, a bedtime story or a bake sale, the Pocket Dragons will have a plan to improve it, and you can be certain it will be a very-good-totally-foolproof-can't-possibly-go-wrong plan. (You can be just as certain that every Pocket Dragon plan goes spectacularly-horribly-terribly-but-hilariously wrong.)
