Halloween episode seems sick good one.

but the spider top hat......first worry is that seems to be another episode without star, the episodes without star are good but we already have one right now, could they wait a little more before another one?

Not really. The whole idea of spaghetti Janna came from the fact that while she seems confident and obviously enjoys teasing Marco she definitely seems to get kind of nervous around him sometimes. See sleepover for some examples, the whole "Oh, come play with us Marco!" *nervous giggle* and the "BLOOD RED?!" freakout, and how sad she looks when he doesn't want to play or just thinks she's weird. It's an interesting dynamic because the confidence and teasing comes across as a bit of a tough exterior for how nervous she is internally, sort of like how she pretends to like black but really likes pink. And it's how a lot of people deal with nerves - not everyone just goes into social withdrawal mode or everything, a lot of people try to make up for their nerves by having a sort of bravado.

There's no way to tell for sure short of asking the creators directly, but I feel pretty confident that the sole intention behind creating Mina Loveberry and Rasticore was so they'd appear in the theme song, posters, promos etc. and appear to be "obviously" the Spades character and somehow connected to Toffee respectively, and then just have them turn out to be purely joke characters who contribute little to nothing to the overall story.

Like a meta-joke that only people actually working on the show or active in reading/creating theories about future episodes would really get at first (young kids and people just bingewatching the whole series probably wouldn't be speculating on that stuff as much).

I think they both worked pretty well on that front even though the Mina episode was pretty weak. Rasticore getting blown up seconds into his introduction to Star and Marco was especially great.

Why did they even put Rasticore in the episode? The gift card episode could have worked even without Rasticore. They could have devoted time and have some story about the lizard race, and maybe shed some light on Toffee and his past. But then again, I'm not bummed out, seeing that they left his arm in tack, hinting that he'll regenerate and come back in the future.

I think cheek marks on their own aren't necessarily special beyond indicating being part of the Butterfly family/possibly connected to Mewberty and magic, and so could be any shape, but the card suit marks might indicate the most important characters from that line (not in-universe but in terms of the show).

I'd be surprised if we never saw a character with spades. Hearts and diamonds could easily have been just a coincidence (never saw anyone make the connection to cards prior to St. Olga's), but the club markings were way too specific a detail.

IMO, I think they did it to partly hint at the importance/status of lizardmen. Like, think about it: Toffee obviously has history with Mewnian royalty, and here we see another (portrayed as) competent lizard being literally contracted out to hit a major political figure, by a conniving Mewni noble.

He even has the same type of tracker that Toffee used. Changed the mewni-hiring-beastmen dynamic from being "Toffee is someone who has history working with nobility and just so happens to be a lizard" to "Nobles specifically contract out lizardmen for their dirty work".

I honestly think that, what with the complete lack of merchandise and XD's low rating, every Disney TVA show is a loss of money for Disney. But they're still ordering a ton of them, both original ones and based on existing IPs (Ducktales, Big Hero 6, Country Club, Billy Dilley's Super-Duper Subterranean Summer...). I guess that it's more a need to fill the market and have channels than a way to make money.

And, while we still don't know how long season 3 is going to be, it's usually the perfect amount: season 1 sets the tone and plot for the show, season 2 finds what works best while raising the stakes, season 3 is where the writers are comfortable with the characters and the world, and shits goes down before the final resolution. I am actually the most excited for Spider with a Top Hat.

Early on the season we got a lot of episodes that pretty much featured only Star, Marco and some new character of the day with the rest of the cast being virtually gone. So these kind of episodes that turn away from the two main are refreshing and have the chance to show us some funny and interesting stuff.

Learning about what is like to be one of Star's creations while not "in use" could be interesting, I mean we all remember that poor narwhal Star has in a chest, and hey these creatures will probably end used on many fanfics, so its all good!

I've seen a few fan fics/art/etc. expressing that sort of sentiment re: Star and Marco, though obviously not in those exact words.

Like, "you're a princess, you're going to be ruing a kingdom one day, I'm just ordinary Marco Diaz, why would you ever be interested in me that way" and so on. I think Marco has enough shit in his life that he doesn't need an inferiority complex toward Star on top of all of it.

Went overboard with the shithole kingdom stuff just to express how Star/Mewni both have enough failings that Marco seems rational enough not to overlook. In the sense that she's only human(oid) too and he isn't putting her on a pedestal.

I guess what I'm saying is that the main appeal of the Star-Marco friendship to me is how they seem like equals and balance each other out through their weaknesses and strengths (even the Disney website refers to Marco as "the yin to her yang"), and so I never got the forced "class difference" thing some fanartists/writers liked to use to make their relationship seem less even on Marco's end. Basically I can take Marco constantly sperging out about romance with Jackie, but not over Star.
