This show incorporates all forms of comedy, but relies heavily on brick jokes, continuity porn, and callbacks.
Also some of the word play is extremely fast and clever.

Back when it was airing, I thought it was crap until I managed to catch two consecutive episodes.
A lot of the humor hinges on the viewer knowing what the fuck is going on.

it didn't bother me for long though, personally. Ray and Xander are pretty different characters, and though they share the same voice, Reed uses that voice pretty differently for the two characters. Ray is of course prissy-gay and mincing, whereas Xander is more flamboyant but less effeminate. Really it just made me admire the man's ability.
