Eh, they already did that in Agent Venom though. He'd probably be threatening at first, but agree to help Mania. Scorn would be the first "villain" trying to hunt them down and capture them for the government or something. Then they come across Mysterio and team up to fight him. He's using his Spider-men dimension hopping technology to bring in real monster through portals, and eventually brings in a ton of Carnages to fight the squad.

And team books usually take so long to get together, so I just wanted to speed up the process.

People love the concept of Rebirth because it's exactly what they want to happen, they want DC to go "we're sorry, we fucked up, Nu52 was a mistake, we'll fix all of it and make everybody happy, promise". That's what people wanted to hear and want to happen. People shit on the actual comics because in most comics that hasn't actually happened. Tons of characters are basically their unloved Nu52 versions with meaninglessly small alterations to status quo at best.
