Wildstorm relaunch got announced.... and it's being supervised by Warren Ellis, which, meh. Hope people enjoy the three issues he does before getting bored and buggering off to do whatever it is he actually does.

Darkseid is supposed to be the big bad, THE great evil in the universe, but with all this other Crisis stuff going on, he kinda ain't shit. The lack of writers to properly portray him as a straight up god of evil doesn't help. Also, yes, the jobbing.

Don't, those guys at least pretend they don't care about women. Early Thanos is best read as one of the most powerful guys in the universe... who happens to be pathetically obsessed with his waifu who seems to want nothing to do with him. As someone mentioned, this is a character who achieved basically the height of power in the Marvel Universe... to get senpai to notice him.

Doesn't Thanos basically stop obsessing over her after Infinity Gauntlet, at least for a few decades? I mean, during Infinity War I remember him outright refusing to do something she told him to do, even though it was directly from her mouth (notice she never speaks to him).
Again, when the writer writes the villain as being a bad person, I'm genuinely ready to give them a pass, as opposed to when they write a HERO doing really bad shit and not getting it (see Wolfman having Raven mind-control Kid Flash into loving him, and it's never played as creepy)

Me too.

I mean, if I was an editor at DC, and bear with me here, I'd launch a New Gods title. 3.99$ so I can fit in some extra backups. First 8 or so issues is the origin of Mr. Miracle. It's about his struggle on Apokolips, meeting Barda, telling her that there's more to life than just killing shit, she develops a crush on him and then it ends with Scott escaping and the infamous Darkseid/Scott scene. Then I launch a spinoff Mr. Miracle title, it's about Scott "renouncing his godhood" which basically means he's still he living embodiment of "freedom" but he's...kind of trapped in a human body so his strength and agility aren't super impressive. Barda follows him to Earth and tells him she's in love with his way of thinking and free spirit and wants to learn more about being alive and not just a weapon of mass destruction. Barda is still super strong here of course, she could beat up earth's heavy hitters by herself all at once but she's learning from Scott to be calm and we get scenes of, say, Wonder Woman trying to beat her up and she just takes the hits and tells her that fighting isn't everything until Diana accidentally hits Scott or something and then Barda goes nuts on her. Anyway, I'd like it to be 3.99$ so we can do an origin of Barda backups, it starts with Darkseid and granny finding her, then Granny training her, various missions she's sent on with the other Furies and she wrecks havoc and more scenes of her meeting Scott and falling in love with him before she eventually flees Apokolips herself. I'd also get a real nice artist on it because I want it to be a very sexy book but with lots of energy too.

Back to New Gods, the following backups after Mr. Miracle would be Forever People. The New Gods title would mostly be about Darkseid quest for the Anti Life Equation and New Genesis(mainly Orion) trying to prevent that from happening. I'd be a multiversal tale of Darkseid looking for it on different planets in the DCU but also other universes.

Drax has an excuse, he literally has different incarnations. This is the strongest one, but he's stupid. Like, he can be tricked by sitting him on front of the TV stupid. They theorize that he has brain damage from when Moondragon killed his first incarnation (who could fly, shoot lasers, and was stronger than Mar-Vell).
Modern Drax came when Space Hulk here was killed in one of the Annihilation prequels.
>>
>>86744649
What? I'd obviously keep it alive for 40-50 or so issues at the very least. I'd probably like to throw in a New Gods crossover depending on how many titles spin off. Like this huge Apokolips/New Gods war and I'd have major status quo shakeups happen in that and NOTHING WILL EVER BE THE SAME AGAIN but I'd mean it.

That's already collected in two big trades, not counting the Infinity War/Crusade trades.

Thanks for posting as always, Storyteller.

The reason senpai will never notice Thanos is because Death isn't attracted to pathetic losers.

Well, I'm a sucker for hardcovers. I'd like a nice oversized omnibus of it.

Clearly Thanos needs to huffily reject her, telling her he's too good for her and maybe he'd go with her if she begged.

I do like how this is the kind of line thousands, if not millions, of humans have tossed out when their affections are not reciprocated throughout history (just without the 'cosmic' part).

At this rate I'm gonna end up reading those Starlin OGNs... anybody have recommended reading that bridges the gap?

Thanks again OP

One of my favorite scenes from this event, especially Mephisto's reaction. Even he realized just how fucked this siuation was.

Well there's the myriad appearances Adam Warlock has in the Ultraverse (which is never mentioned after), then Infinity Abyss, then Marvel: The End, then the Thanos 12-issue series, and from then on there's a split where Giffen brings Thanos to a story that ends up leading to Annihilation and DnA after that, while Starlin's Thanos basically acts as if none of that happened to THANOS, while Adam Warlock dying IS referred to.

I skimmed through the Cosmic Renaissance stuff, I get the gist of all that. Might have to re-read the Warlock appearances though.
thanks

What's the whole canon/not-canon controversy with this again?
I've read it before btw

I guess you'll also be inserting a Thor issue somewhere.

Karnak has been better so far

Is there any mention of Karnak in Ellis' newsletter since August of this year?
>>
>>86750398
said he was still working on it in September

A second volume? Zaffino is back?

Don't know, he listed it with james bond as things he was still working on.
>>

So no further details mentioned.
>>
>>86750834
nope, so either there is more coming or he is the reason the last chapter keeps getting pushed back
>>
>>86748801
Really? I was sure Starlin actually referenced Annihilation but never Thanos imperative.
>>
>>86750348
Very strongly disagree.

I feel so proud knowing that Heather finally got to bang a Quasar in the end, y'know?

If thought bubbles had still been a thing in what was it, 2007? I'm sure there would have been one gleefully celebrating that. Or at least their would have been if Gruenwald wasn't unevenly distributed throughout the first print run of the Squadron Supreme TPB.

I just didn't realise it was such a big deal for her. I'm all, you go Moondragon. You did it, you won.
>>
>>86751075
Weird thing is, by the time she became Quasar, they were already dating. So it probably took her a while for her to finally realize "Wow, I went into this trying to bang a Captain Marvel, and then I got to bang a Quasar too!"
