Because those shows aren't even good.

There aren't many shows(like 5), that's like saying why is it #2 instead of like 3 or 4

If anything Cottonmouth and Mariah were the commies taking money from the neighbourhood to "help them progress" and make a "new Harlem"

Pop was just a good capitalist man caught up in their dirty red schemes.

>>
>>86745162

>>
>>86739925
Honestly I felt it was the weakest.
Luke came off as kind of boring and his constant dodging of being a hero got irritating, the whole show felt like a bunch of missed opportunities tied together by lots of characters talking about shit.
Another major problem was the tone, the show really would have benefited from being more optimistic, it makes sense for Daredevil to be grimdark considering it's source material and it makes sense for Jessica Jones to be dark because of it's subject matter. I had really been hoping that Luke Cage and Iron Fist would off more in the way of campy levity to compensate for the bleakness of the other two shows but instead we got Luke Cage the angsty coward with unbreakable skin.
I wanted Shaft I got something closer to training day.
>>
>>86739925
>except Daredevil

Nah son, it's better than Daredevil. Luke Cage is actually fun instead of miserable.
>>
Luke Cage has the same problem as every other Netflix show. The pacing is horrendously slow and plodding and they stretch out maybe 6 or 7 episodes of content into 13.
>>
>>86747212
how dare they take there time to tell a interesting and detailed story.

>>
>>86747479

There's no way you genuinely think it's weaker than Jessica "Coyote and Roadrunner" Jones
>>
>>86747879
I genuinely do

Kilgrave was awesome and the first 8 or 9 episodes of JJ are great. It's only towards the end it loses steam. LC on the other hand goes up and down wildly in quality and kills its most watchable villain in episode 6.

I regret watching it. It's the worst marvel show besides Agents of Shield.

None of the characters had coherent motivations, there was just constant gesturing at potential motivations covered up by big relevant themes. It was a string of action and drama set pieces strung together over a few episodes and then dropped.

Where? In boring, one-note characters? Subtext that's treating the viewer like he's a braindead kid? Dialogues that feel like they were written by the Dexter writers (oh wait)? Most awful and ineffective attempts at psychological thriller/horror and zero suspense? Giant unthreatening joke of a villain?

I completely disagree with every point you've made. I enjoyed JJ on the whole a lot more than LC mostly because it felt much more consistent.

>>86748427
>completely ruling out someone's opinion is "disagreeing"

Here's your last (you) friend
>>
>>86748445
Luke Cage may be inconsistent but it's consistently better than Jessica Jones in every way that matters.
>I completely disagree with every point you've made
Why? It was pretty bad. Especially the main villain and absense of any subtlety.
>>
I'm only like five episodes in but so far it's just so sloppily written, paced and acted in comparison to Daredevil. It's tonally all over the place. It's like those super awkward Foggy/Karen segments from Daredevil but every component of the show is like that. They constantly take breaks from getting shit done to talk about muh social issues. Kind of disappointing so far. Does it get better?
>>
>>86748584
I need a reason to have a different opinion than you?

The dialogue in LC was often incredibly corny and hard to relate to. I didn't get that feeling much in JJ, I like her as a MC and her struggles much more. Kilgrave was fun and creepy, had an interesting power, and most importantly wasn't killed in episode 6.

Basically, JJ actually felt like a consistent ride from start to finish in terms of tone and pacing. LC was like a roller coaster (not in a good way). Weak episode followed by great episode followed by weak episode. Sometimes even in the same episode, scenes would vary wildly. I felt like I was getting whiplash.
>>
Seems like all these Netflix Marvel shows start off the season all atmospheric and cool, but end up seeming corny and conventional by the end.
>>
>>86748781
I think a lot of people, no matter which series they prefer, would agree that they always start off stronger than they finish

I think DDS1 is the one that managed to stay strong the longest, but even it faltered towards the end

First 4 episodes of DDS2 is the best chunk of Marvel TV of all time, for my money
>>
>>86748664
>I need a reason to have a different opinion than you?
Nah, I'm just curious to hear your reasoning because I just can't understand what anyone could see in a series like that.

>fun and creepy
I disagree. He was anything but. He was a boring, idiotic whiny psychopath that is absolutely impossible to take seriously as any kind of threat and even show characters make fun of.
>had an interesting power
That's objectively wrong. Mind control is one of the least interesting powers out there, only above generic Superman powerset.
>most importantly wasn't killed in episode 6
That's not a pro. If he died and someone actually scary stepped up, maybe the show could've been more tolerable.
>>
>>86748861
Why can't you understand it? The series was generally well received, don't like 4chan make you think it's shit on all the time.

>objectively wrong
Here's your (you), nice try.
>>
>>86748781
Well that's comic books for you. They start with a good hook, then they have to take away agency from the hero so they can learn something, then the villain is forced to up the ante leading to the final confrontation.

Also for some reason the first two episodes are written or directed by the series showrunner then it's just random other writer/directors that completely change the tone. Like the first two episodes of Jessica Jones are dark and moody with purple haze over tense scenes and Kilgrave permanently shrouded in shadows. Then they reveal his face and he's just a scruffy goon who doesn't understand the meaning of the word consent.
>>
>>86748896
>The series was generally well received
So is trash like The Walking Dead or Arrow. Doesn't mean it's not hard to understand why people have such low standards.
>Here's your (you), nice try.
Oh, please. Go ahead and explain to me how mind control is not one of the most boring powers imaginable.
>hurr kill yourself
>hurr serve me
Such an interesting and totally not an inherently dull power
>b-but you have to be creative
I'm sure using mind control and your imagination will not result in tripe so edgy, even 15 year old Linkin Park-listening fanfic writers who fantasize about school shootings would think is too much.
It was only somewhat interesting in Preacher because it was one of the good guys who had it and even then it quickly grew old.
>>
>>86739925

Are these series supposed to take place immediately after The Avengers? That seems to be the only mainline Marvel film they reference outside of the newspaper article of the Abomination fight in DD.

Even then, that doesn't make sense considering how modern the shows are, but you have that entire cinematic universe to pull from, why limit it just to the Avengers?
Nobody mentions DC
Nobody mentions Sokovia
Nobody mentions LONDON

I understand it's supposed to be street level, but what gives?
>>
>>86749422
Season 1 was pretty good, a nice little follow up to CA:TFA. I t helped that it was short. Season 2, on the other hand, was meh and very forgettable.
>>
>>86749469
I don't think anyone gives a shit about Sokovia, I mean most Americans don't give a shit about what goes down in the middle east.
>>
>>86742695
>and he won't reintroduce him there
good thing he doesn't have any say in that anymore.

Agents of SHIELD is better than Daredevil and most the movies
>>
>>86749469
I wanna say that Season 1 of Daredevil is right before AoU as is Jessica Jones. Season 2 of Daredevil and Luke Cage take place shortly after AoU, as a lot of whats talked about in Luke Cage feels very pre-Sokovia Accords. lots of "these super people are scary someone should do something about this" kind of talking.
>>
>>86749496
>I mean most Americans don't give a shit about what goes down in the middle east.

I mean I enjoy AoS on a certain level but it is no where near as good as everything else in the MCU. AoS is so much lost potential. I'm still so fucking disappointed that they are wasting Ghost Rider on that show right now. and its not even one of the better Riders.
>>
>>86749646
don't mess with trips
AoS > most Marvel movies and all of the Netflix shows
season 2 finale was a better movie than AoU
season 3 ended with the most sublime moment in the entire MCU
it has more time to develop its characters and story and is just more entertaining all around

I cannot for the life of me understand why Luke Cage is such a hit. There are some good things about it and that begins and ends with Cottonmouth. Colter himself has to be the dullest lead I've seen in a long time and there's not all that much to the character himself. He's not actually from Harlem in this. He knew Pops for what, a few months, and acted like its his father. There are tons of moments that could qualify as idiot plot ESPECIALLY regarding Diamondback episodes.

But hey, BLM is really big right now, so we can't say anything but its good even though the show was basically at odds with that concept and more or less short your own shit out before blaming the cops.

He's right, all of Netflix's Marvel shows so far had the common problem that they have enough story for 10-11 episodes but they still do 13, and instead of slowing down the pacing for the whole season, they make the first half or so correctly paced and then slow down a lot until the last episode.
>>
>>86739925

Why?

Marvel produces crap TV shows; being better than crap just means you aren't quite as crappy as crap.
>>
>>86748781

I agree. All of the Netflix shows would benefit from being 8 or 9 episodes long instead.

can we stop this autism of rating the first or second half of a season as if it was its own season?

Yes, the Frank stuff in DD season 2 was great but the season overal was very weak since the best element wasn't the title character and you can argue DD barely had anything to do with Frank.

So yes, season 2 sucks.
>>
>>86750778

I was thinking exactly that.

When the first thread about the show after the release was made, I was having this conversation of another anon, about how much people were liking it and there wasn't polarization in opinions.

Now, the contrarianism is in full force.

certain seasons of Marvel TV have pretty noticeable tonal/quality differences that can warrant dividing them into separate parts.

so no we can't, fuck off

if this is true I'll give it a chance.

JJ and Ninja side were the worst two things of the recent netflix stuff.

>Cottonmouth died halfway through
>Luke Cage has shit taste and went for ugly no-hips Rosario Dawson nurse instead sexy as fuck Misty Knight
It was garbage.

It still annoys me how Cottonmouth died so early.

I get that Diamond Back was the main antag, but they definitely made Cottonmouth the most interesting antagonist on that show, followed by shades.

it's not.

I feel like I would have liked it more if I was black.

Because LC and DD are shows about down-to-earth heroes who fight crime in their neighborhoods.

JJ was just about some chick who has PTSD and wants to be blacked instead of purpled. She just HAPPENS to have some sort of vague super strength I guess.

Can they? Maybe. Have they, ever, in all of human history? NO.

Faggot

This is now a Rosario Dawson appreciation thread.

>Yes, the Frank stuff in DD season 2 was great but the season overal was very weak since the best element wasn't the title character and you can argue DD barely had anything to do with Frank

I disagree, it only worked because he was up against someone like Daredevil who had gone through the character arc Matt did in season 1, the whole Frank aspect would have been much weaker with JJ or Luke Cage instead, because there was no established character development to provide the foil needed to conflict against Frank's ideals and methods.

The best element was Matt VS Frank, so yes, it was the title character. If it had been Frank VS anyone else in the shows it wouldn't have worked.

Season 2's Ninja's suck.

Jesus dude, comics are ok but reading books sometimes is fine too.

Not really. America's posture on killer robots is to just send them to kill people elsewhere, p. mch the same as Ultron

Those were ONLY good bits throughout the season.

It's actually everything people shit on Agents of Shield for, except it doesn't apply to Agents of Shield.

I think the only reason he isn't put away for good is because he's incompetent + easy to track and people keep using him for gear
