It's a little surreal to me that there's a major Doctor Strange movie coming out in exactly a month. I remember when I first was introduced to the character on SM:TAS and while he made an impression it wasn't a strong one. It was only years later that I got into his comics, and he became something more than "Oh yeah, that guy" to me. I'm sure the same is true of a lot of /co/.
This whole MCU thing just continues to weird me out as things I thought were impossible twenty years ago continue to happen.
I agree. I mean, I just watched a Luke Cage show. A fucking Luke Cage show!
We live in a world where Ant-Man and Deadpool are likely to get trilogies. I want to see how far this rabbit hole goes. Will we get Venom films? Will we get Nextwave films?
>>86740261
Okay. What's the most unlikely, but still within the realm of possibility, Marvel property that could get a movie? I mean, a decade ago I would have said GotG or Squirrel Girl, and now we're getting a sequel movie to one and possibly a TV show of the other.
>>86740343
Pet Avengers.
>>86740343
No clue, we even got a Howard the Duck cameo.
Squadron Supreme?
>>86740343
Mayday Parker Spider-Girl.
>>86739178
>It was only years later that I got into his comics, and he became something more than "Oh yeah, that guy" to me. I'm sure the same is true of a lot of /co/.
Not really. I thought he was cool since I first found out about him, and for the last couple of years, I've been pretty hyped about him getting a movie.
>>86740414
Marvel Zombies
Great Lakes Avengers
The Sub Mariner
Captain Britain
Man Thing
Quasar
>>86740574
Are Namor rights still with Universal?
I could actually see Quasar being introduced in GotG 3 or something.
>>86740331
I'd kill for an anti-hero Venom movie
>>86739178
>it's another "no proper Doctor Doom movie" episode
guess this will have to suffice
It's surreal, yeah.
It's also surreal in that Marvel's trying to destroy what made Doctor Strange so cool and unique in the comics, while the movie is much more embracing.
POWER PACK FUCKING WHEN
>>86742151
>It's also surreal in that Marvel's trying to destroy what made Doctor Strange so cool and unique in the comics, while the movie is much more embracing.
You could say this about pretty much every Marvel property honestly
looks like the guy from venture bros
>>86742039
Fox will never let go of those F4 rights.
>>86740331
I feel like Nextwave could only work if it was animated.
>>86739178
I feel the same way OP
A few years ago I took the time to read as much Doctor Strange and hes turned into my all time favorite cape.
So surreal we are getting this movie. I don't care how bad it could be, I'm just going to be excited to see my favorite, who is a such an important character finally get some recognition to the main stream
>>86742242

It's almost like Orpheus is a parody of Dr. Strange. Imagine that.

Looks like you fucked up once again, Doom.
>>86739178
I want Strange to say "There is such a thing as Chaos Magic , and only a fat loser hack shit-for brains clown would say otherwise!"
>>86740331
Yes, Venom movies produced by Avi Arad.
>>86745230
What's this a reference to?
>>86739178
I've been hype for a Dr Strange movie ever since I first heard one was in production in like 200fucking4. Only even knew him from the 90s Spider-Man cartoon. Maybe it was the collar, shit's hypnotizing yo.
>>86740343
The Sentry.
>>86745399
I know what you're trying to do and refuse to kickstart it.
When are they dropping a damn trailer for that Wolverine movie?
You know, I'm actually impressed that I haven't seen any "leaked scripts" or "blow-by-blow accounts of the film from an early screening - trust me guys, I'm an insider/was part of the audience/worked on the set and have the T-shirt to prove it" posts about this film, an MCU flick that's about a month away from being shown in theaters.

Seeing as Fox isn't going to make any money off Fantastic Four movies, are they just holding onto the rights in a desperate hope that Marvel will pay big bucks to get them back?
If so, Fox needs to come down from whatever their current asking price is, because the the actual value of F4 rights are going down all the time.
>>86747234
Original Venom only works as a villain, though.

They've done dumber things. They rehired Snyder, after all.
>>86747285
Even though they are most of the time, "villain" and "antogonist" don't necessarily have to be the same thing.
DC needs to scrap one of their shitty movies and make a Doctor Fate movie to compete with this.
>>86746186
Honestly I'm a bit of an MCUfag but thinking about how long I've been waiting sort of gives me sympathy for the QUIPS REEEEE crowd.
The movie looks great with lots of attention to details only fanboys would care to put in but when you've been waiting long enough for Spider-Man 2 and The Dark Knight and Daredevil Director's Cut to pass you by seeing a personal favourite get their first big shot on the mainstream stage via the producer-driven shared-universe route might feel a little less special and taste a little more bitter. Maybe some people have been picturing a standalone Doctor Strange by Terry Gilliam since the mid-00s.

they could get it for cheap then make something decent

over a decade ago a writer had Strange say that there is no such thing as chaos magic despite his & many other characters prior familiarity with it in the first of a long series of increasingly triggering continuity discrepancies by selfsame writer that are ongoing to this day and have naturally earned him the ire of /co/
also he's fat and shares his name with a spurdo shitpost and whenever the opportunity arises we all meme it up relentlessly in repetitive post chains meant to satirically emulate his writing style

>>86748956
Why do you salt the wound like this.
I got into Dr. Strange (and comic shit in general) by stumbling upon MightyGodKing's "I should write Doctor Strange". He's one of the only comics I've a tally gone and read old issues of instead of just collecting second hand lore from wikis and such. It doesn't look like they are going to be able to get much into the 'meat' of Strange: wandering between dimensions, astral projecting, the perils of the Dark Dimension. It looks very Earth centric. Which could work. It will be interesting to see how deep they make "the masquerade", the conspiracy to keep magic secret across the globe. Lots of the best "I should write dr. Strange" bits revolved around that lore and the history of the Sorcerer Supreme, and how old and arcane things could be called upon, while everything Stephen does can potentially ripple into the future. It will be interesting to see if Stephen actually does anything for the inevitable sequel setup, or it will be another "You didn't get the real villain" like what happened with the Avengers, Iron Man 3, Thor, Guardians.
Expected Hype: Name dropping all of the Vishanti and/or Cytorak, naming their goddamn spells
Maximum Hype: A glimpse of Eternity or Dormammu
Infinite Over hype:Hinting at future Strange vs. Dracula

>>86739178
I know, right? I have the same reaction... until I remember there was one like, 40 years ago, already.
Unfortunately, so far it looks like this one will be more distant from the source. We'll see.
Me, I'm just waiting for a well done Nextwave adaptation in the meantime.
>>86748728
It's coming, seriously! It's sort of inspired by Se7en or something like that. I know because I've read about it on the internetaround 1999.

>we will never have lower-budget superhero movies on the margins of the cinematic universes dealing with more mature/less action-oriented storylines
>you will never see a movie about Tony battling his alcoholism or Beast struggling with his morality while trying to save mutantkind from extinction
>>86742302
Nextwave needs to be on Adult Swim or something. Making it G-rated would kill the whole idea.
The closest thing we have is like Axe Cop mixed with Archer but with superheroes instead of cops/spies.
>>86752433
At least we got to see Peter Parker struggle with poverty.

Have you tried to watch the Netflix shows? They've got the maturity that the movies are lacking, along with being in the margins.

>>86740510
This one is definitely one of the most unlikely to happen. The MCU hasn't even touched upon alternate universes for one and I'm not sure Marvel has plans for it to do so any time soon. There's also the difficulty making it stand out from the other Spider-Man movies. Marvel may not think it's worth the effort to make a Spider-Girl movie because of how similar it would be to a Spider-Man movie. Not saying it's impossible to make it stand on its own or be different enough but that's definitely a factor IMO. Also if Marvel did make a Spider-Girl movie, it would be probably be Spider-Gwen instead of Mayday due to the former's popularity right now.
Though if they Marvel did decide to make a Mayday Spider-Girl movie, I could see a few ways of doing it:
1. They acknowledge the existence of alternate universes and have the movie take place in the MCU's version of MC2 or something.
2. They acknowledge the existence of alternate universes but instead of having the movie take place entirely in Spider-Girl's universe, they have Spider-Girl come from her universe into the main MCU one. Kind of similar to Thor 1 and 2, which take place partly in Asgard and partly on Earth.
If they did make a Spider-Girl movie, I would definitely go see it. It'd be interesting to see who they would choose to play Mayday. To be honest though I'd rather have a Spider-Girl animated series. Though judging from Marvel's current animated series, I have a feeling it wouldn't be that good if they did make one.
