Honestly I've had that same sort of thought. There are a lot of characters in the summers extended family ( Corsair, Cyclops, Havok, Vulcan, Jean Grey, Rachel Grey, Madeline Pryor, Hope Summers, Multiple versions of Cable) You could totally do a team/family book with these characters and have it turn out well.

The gal's power is a big shake of the universal Etch-a-Sketch, that needed two books to explain. Fanboys aren't always the brightest bulbs.
That's a lot of investment for a character that just exist to provide instant wins. So you know they're going to be using her again whenever they write themselves into a corner.
