This was written after a story where Croc's creator, Doug Moench, introduced the idea that he was continually devolving, and had Batman chase him all the way to the Louisiana Bayou where Swamp-Thing got involved and he and Bats debated whether the laws of man even applied to Croc anymore, or if he was just an animal that sould be allowed to run free. Of course, that ending doesn't really allow you to do any FUTURE Croc stories, so Dixon wisely avoids any narration or dialogue while he silently walks it back.

I really liked that one-shot, it's by my man Tim Seeley who is a huge horror buff. It did a great job of bridging the "friend to the outcast and downtrodden of Gotham" aspect of his character which comes up every so often, with the "horrifying monster gang boss" aspect by leading an almost cult-like commune. I think I'll storytime that'n next.

I love reptilian villains but I hate Batman comics so my feelings toward Killer Croc are complicated. He has a great design and inner monologue in this storytime but the inconsistency in his appearances/personality across different runs that I've sampled makes it hard to say if I like him or not.

His most recent appearance was in all Star Batman this week where he's a generic badguy, but he's also on the suicide squad right now, and before that he was helping out Batman stop the joker virus, watching over little girls in gotham academy, and stuff like that.
