Aversions of "Aesop Amnesia" I find it admirable when characters get to keep their lessons and not be the same person in episode 50 that they were in episode 1.

>Sidekick is shown to be manipulative over the series
>Eventually revealed to be both far more dangerous and using the main antagonist for their own plans
>Original antagonist bails on them/or forcibly gets kicked out by them
>They team up with MCs to take them down afterwards

Bonus points if the sidekick in question doesn't even look like villain material.

Gravity falls with Gideon and Bill. Gideon was the villain in season 1 and Bill was just a helper. Then Season 2 Bill becomes free and becomes the true villain and Gideon helps Mabel
