Actually the best Wolverine stories don't involve the X-Men at all.

Wolverine is better in his own solo stories, instead of being just a X-team member. Because Wolvie being an X-Man, is just a small part of his life. Actually i enjoyed him far more with the Avengers. He had far better interactions with Luke Cage and Spider-Man. than with any X-Man.

He started his career as a character out of the X-Men books, and against an Avenger (kind of).

Yes he is more know as member of the X-Men, but this is only an aspect of him. Wolvie was an Avenger, worked with Alpha Flight, and even was a member of the New F4.

For telling the truth, if Wolvie ever returns i want him out of the horrible mess that are currently the X-books. At least we will not have to deal with the Xfags anymore.
