Judd Winick, of all people, managed to give Jason a very simple and elegant origin where Jason traveled the world learning under various masters and teachers to better prepare himself for his eventual confrontation against Batman and the Joker. It made sense, it mirrored Batman's own journey, and you even had all the other baggage of Talia using him as a weapon while playing the mother role, mirroring again Jason's upbringing and demise as a Robin where he's biological mother used him for her own means.

Post-Crisis Jason was a sweet-kid who tried to be hardcore due to his fucked-up upbringing and one of the sweetest things about him is that he felt very protective of women.

Because of that he was a bit of a beta, despite trying to show off as flirty, and he would always end up being manipulated by older women.

I found that very charming.

So when Nu52 began and i started to see Lobdell pairing him with Starfire, Not-Raven (Essence), the girl from "Death in the Family", Rose Wilson and later paired with Supergirl and Batgirl in other comics, in some cringe-worthy attempt to make him a cool and suave ladies man i just got sick of this shit.
