I informed my mother of the Blood Man of Aldi, and she presented the possibility of the loiterer being ghostly in nature. As I recalled the event, it seemed that no one else noticed him. I wouldn't mind such a spectre, but I don't relish the thought of the underworld being aware of my bountiful purchases of Totino's pizzas and s'mores components.

Funny story. I'm like 90% sure the police meet informants at my local mcdonalds for whatever reason. Every time I go in there at 3 AM theres a hushed group of people sitting at this rather secluded table in the back around a corner of the restaurant with all the windows covered in posters so nobody can see in. One time I'm in there ordering food and this rather rushed looking cop suddenly opens the door and asks "are you (name)!?!" and I shake my head. He rushes to the back to see if anyone is there before turning around and rushing back out the door to his waiting squad car and taking off.

I bet someone died or disappeared.

As with all German discounter systems, ALDI being the first, they save on employees and time by having people take care of their own groceries.
In part also because Germany never used cashiers for bagging. Instead, they tend towards collapsible singular large carrying boxes in which they simply put all groceries at the checkout, then take the reusable box out of the cart as one.
>>
>>86274697
What I thought they were a Germany only thing.
>>
>>86285804
Nah, they are present in most EU states. In Eastern Europe they just about pushed all competition to the wall since 1990. Ironically enough.

>>
>>86277417

>>

>>

naw dude
some people don't have cars and give no fucks and will just straight up and take a cart and abandon it in the street once they are done. also the homeless tend to steal them and use them haul their shit around. some places use set up magnetic perimeters where if crossed beyond the parking lot they carts will lock the back tires making it very difficult to move. aldi's is the first place I've ever been to that uses the quarter method. I live in sothern california btw
>>

>>
>>86285321
>>86278810
No, I totally understand the merits of self bagging. In fact, I prefer to bag my own shit whenever the register/bagging area allow it. I've done my time as a bag boy and know proper bagging technique. It pisses me off how these days I will legitimately group shit into reasonable bagging groups whenever I put shit on the cashier conveyor belt, and they still manage to mix cold cold items into 3 bags with noncold items, and put soft squish-able underneath items that squish them.

My issue is that it looks like the "Blood Man of Aldi" looks like he is sitting on the outside curb, and that is where the "self Bagging Area" is labeled. Am I misinterpreting, or did Filyaw just do a bad job of drawing this
>>
>>86265089
>the other fat guys have Hawaiian print shirts on too
>>
>>86288583
If you've been to an Aldi's, it's pretty accurate looking. It's a counter that Blood Man is sitting on, a little higher than waste-height, usually against the front wall near the exit. Ronnie's cart is in the right corner to show the height, and it's why Blood Man's feet are dangling.

Where is Ronnie from anyway?

Fun facts about coin-carts:

1. The only reason they take quarters is because Americans have no bigger coins. European carts commonly take 50ct, 1€ and 2€ coins interchangeably.

2. People carry around coin-sized plastic discs on key chains so they don't have to use actual money. However, those disks are harder to come by than coins, so people still return the carts.

>>

You must put yourself in Ronnie's shoes. TastyKakes are relatively pricey snack cakes. Sure, maybe Ronnie can afford to buy a box.. but why buy one box when he can buy 3 boxes of Little Debbies?

Eventually one eat so much Little Debbie snack cakes that all other snack cakes become but a distant memory. In the end, this is for the best.

I think it's about the psychological barrier of losing something. The process kinda conditions you to do the proper behavior, so taking away the incentive will likely lead to people being less careful with the carts and having stand on the parking lot, steal them etc more. It's not worth the risk, simply speaking. The system works, so leave it alone.

This Safeway in DC has a sign that says shopping cart wheels will lock if you try to take them out of the parking lot. I do not believe this claim is true.
>>
>>86291702
I'm sorry! I was being completely honest.
>>
>>86304954

Check to see if one of the wheels of the cart looks different from all the rest. Then it's probably legit. A lot of grocery stores around me in California have it. The wheel jams up when it's too far from the designated lot space.

One thing my friend and I noticed is that it seems it doesn't lock above a certain speed. So it's like the movie Speed. If you keep running with your cart, it never locks up.
>>
>>86286057
Where in Cali exactly? I'm from the Bay Area and never saw these before.

>>86305312
There was one cart outside just sitting in the parking lot, it did not have an abnormal wheel. Maybe it is not like the ones inside.
