Don't be retarded. Put characters on the screen if they're relevant to the story being told. Most episodes of SU are from Steven's perspective and his actions, emotions or ideas are important to how the story plays out. There have been a couple episodes recently though where Steven's presence is less than critical, which tends to bog down the dialogue and pacing by having to constantly inject him into situations where he isn't doing anything, but this is the first episode where Steven could have been entirely removed.

I prefer it when episodes incorporate Steven and give us his perspective as he learns about others, but if you can't bother to write around that and are already effectively abandoning the premise that the show focuses on Steven, just accept you want to tell a gem focused episode and give yourself the room to write it well.

The show itself is going full pandering mode, this episode was pure fancomic tier, Amethyst felt off, Pearl felt off, the pink haired woman was just vague with no personality beyond her appearance.
Steven was superfluous, might as well not have been there, hell might have worked better that way, Pearl and Amethyst playing off each other.
The episode was poor yet /sug/ was practically orgasming, I'm assuming the same thing with tumblr, pure pandering to the fanbase with this episode.

I liked it and thought it was a very nice episode. I didn't really laugh at anything except the credits, but I honestly think it's an excellent addition to the show.

If we are going to get into this mess of a term, "filler" was a phrase used mostly in anime sub groups at first and were seen as entries in a serial that were unrelated to the main plot,or don't significantly alter the relations between the characters, and generally serve only to take up space.

Most of Steven Universe is filler but that should be expected where it's a cartoon on a kids network. Nothing wrong with that however this series fanbase has grown in size and many people here just want their head canon either proved or disproved.

I thought the episode was awesome. I laughed at the jokes, I enjoyed seeing pearl be happy for once, I liked how she tried to push her boundaries and interact with humans.

I don't get the hate really. The jokes weren't really different than normal episodes, why are you only cringing now?
