Can you believe, after all these years, the real Superman is back?
>>
>>86129353
Post-Crisis Superman is not Real Superman.
>>
>>86129353
Golden Age Supes came back?
>>
>>86129353
He's no more real than the new 52 superman or golden age superman
>>
>>86129930
>>86130180
>>86130211
Post-Crisis Superman has had BY FAR the most material published out of any Superman. He also has by far the most iconic, beloved Superman stories. He is the version of Superman that all modern animated and film incarnations of the character have been based on. Golden Age Supes' defense of being first hardly compares to any of that. There is no measure by which Post-Crisis is not the main Superman. If such a thing as the "real" Superman existed, it would be him.

There's too many versions of Superman, I can't even tell who's supposed to be the "real" Superman anymore.

Golden Age Superman and Golden Age Lois' corpses were revived by Dr. Manhattan and turned into New 52 Superman and Lois since pre new 52 Superman and Lois were absent from the Earth when the reboot hit because of convergence.

The nu52 Superman was worth reading also. We didn't need to kill him to also have this one, you know. We could have had both
>>
>>86130748
The prevailing theory is that New 52 Superman was Kal-L and New 52 Lois Lane was pre-crisis Earth-2 Lois. Just rebooted into the roles of New 52 Superman and Lois since post-Crisis Supes and Lois weren't in their universe when the reboot hit whereas the bodies of pre-crisis E2 Clark and Lois were.
>>
>>86130594
It's actually Superboy Prime (it was leaked). Yes, Nu52 Superman was so terrible that he was actually Superboy Prime.
>>
>>86132111
That'd be a tad too insulting to New 52 Superman fans.

You went from...

>Superman who's married to Lois Lane
>Superman who has his mother
>Superman who has a nice relationship with his cousin and clone
>Superman who has Krypto
>Superman who has a job and human friends

... to a...

>Superman who's alone feeling sorry for himself while Lois fucks another guy
>Superman who lost both his parents and gave away his Smallville farm
>Superman who has a troubled relationship with his cousin and doesn't know about his clone (he later met the clone but fuck Scott Lobdell's Kon-El anyway)
>Superman who never met Krypto because he's stuck in the Phantom Zone (Krypto came back but then after it they did nothing with it)
>Superman that got fired from the Daily Planet

So no wonder people didn't liked it. If it wasn't for Greg Pak and his attempts to try and ground Superman a bit by constantly bringing Lana we would have a 24/7 Superman who's fucking Wonder Woman and only hangs with the Justice League.
>>

because batman has been depicted as not having them for far longer, and his design lends itself to it better.

the Burton movie was a solid black, and so was the Nolan movies.

Since his costume is all about stealth, and is just shades of dark, its not nearly as important. You expect him to mostly be in shadows anyway.

Superman though, is all about visibility, and a blue unitard just looks weird. the large red section in his midsection helps break up the blue

its a general design thing.

Skip most of what happens after Morrison. John's run is pretty solid but feels a bit void once you realize the next writer goes back to writing the same shit again. Pick it up again once he has the Fleischer Crest, put it down when he gets it back, and pick it back up again for Superdad

Well lets see Batfags thrive off of making sure Bruce can boss around and treat Superman like he's a joke. But since Golden Age is pretty too much of a 40's take charge badass, Silver Age was too far over Bruce's head, and N52 was a (clumsy) attempt to reconcile Clark with his golden age core principles they're pretty much left with naive farmboy Supes which is basically the only way Bruce can seem like he's better. Any Supes fan that believes that Post-Crisis was the authentic Superman over Golden Age is a brain addled Batfag falseflagging as a Superman fan.
>>
>>86145286
>Didn't read the story where Superman went after Hitler.

Something I've noticed about Post-Crisis fags is they spend a lot of time defending Nazi's.
>>
It's kinda disgusting how the "NOT MUH" suddendly become a legit thing when Superfags use it.

And more disgusting is DC caving in, killing a character after declaring him a fake and basically telling all the fans that were buying that comic for years that they were in the wrong and the problem.

It's so weird that all these shitty comics are written by such good writers like Morrison, Pak, and Johns. They usually make good comics (and usually good at Superman). But DAAAAMN, did they make the most unlikable Superman in comic form since JMS's Earth One.

Like what happened? Did the writers get amnesia and forget what Superman is about? Did they forget that Fans don't want Superman breaking down doors to hurt people or punching cops? Did they forget Fans want a Fun Superman?
I would expect this from Zack Snyder or JMS but not Grant Morrison or Geoff Johns.
>>
>>86150882
In all honesty, I only read Grant Morrison's Action Comics from the New 52, he said he was harking back to the Golden Age version of Supes, he was a much different character than the version we're more accustomed to today.
>>
>>86151042
>No, it's not shit. It's IRONIC SHIT.
Then why didn't Morrison make something Unironically Good?

No one likes Golden Age Superman except old people, racists, and a few hipsters.

Making Nu52 Superman into a Golden Age brute was a terrible idea.

Nobody important wants Golden Age Superman!!!!

Heck, most people don't even give a shit about Morrison's edgy Action Comics and prefer his All-Star Superman. So why not make Nu52 Superman more like All-Star instead of the Golden Age Supes?

This is such a stupid fucing arguement, they're both great. I prefer Post-Crisis Superman because of the continuity and maturity he has, and more recently because I have always wanted Superdad and Loismom (chris is a weirdo time adoptee and does not count). I still liked Superbro.

>>86129353
That's not the real Superman. That's not even the real Post-Crisis Superman. That's fucking Convergence Post-Crisis Superman.

The real Superman hasn't been around since War of the Supermen..
>>
The Superman is each era is the one that follows the narrative of each era. So it went Kal-L, then Kal-el, (who both existed at the same time btw). The new Superman after COIE was a weird mix of Silver/Golden Age plus some new stuff (fuck you Byrne), and it an entirely different character. Then follows Superman of the New 52. Their have been 4 main continuity Supermen. Excluding the Multiverses or Elseworlds.

My favorite theory is the New 52 Superman would be the lost post-52 Superman of Earth 2, since it was established he had been missing for sometime.
>>
I am a diehard post-CoIE Superman fan. I couldn't stand New 52 Superman. I make no bones about either of those points.

Having said that, I don't recall ever advocating that New 52 Superman be killed off so that post-CoiE could come back. I understand why they did it, and obviously I'm glad my Superman is back, but there was really nothing wrong with New 52 Superman that quality writing couldn't have fixed.

That was the problem with New 52 Superman, really. He never really had that rock-solid foundation that post-CoIE Superman enjoyed with Byrne's run. Morrison's run was good but got really fucking weird, Pak's run was divisive, Johns's run was good but only got to write for seven issues, and the rest of New 52 Superman was mediocre at best. There was never really a writer that A) wrote a universally acclaimed run, and B) established Superman's supporting cast and status quo for subsequent writers to follow.

New 52 Superman never really had his own identity. What was his relationship with Lois? Was he a brash asshole or a compassionate role model? Did he work at the Planet or not? I read most of New 52 Superman and fuck if I know the answers.

Honestly Reading rebith Superman isn't really any different from nu52 supes. The only thing that has changed is now everyone seems to be going "that's muh supez" but he seems to be the same. Hell he out and out fucking assaulted lex. You know superdad actually seems to be more of a brute than super bro was.
>>
>>86163233
"Pre-Crisis" is not a continuity. You can't just lump golden and silver ages together. Both Post-Crisis and Silver Age lasted roughly 30 years, but Superman had 3-4 ongoings at any given time to himself in post-Crisis, not to mention spinoffs like Superboy and Supergirl. Silver Age certainly had a few titles going, but nothing to match post-Crisis. Get over it.
>>
>>86163749
That's because Dan Jurgens is a hack who has never written anything above "this exists" in his entire career
>>
>>86160413
Pretty much my thoughts to.
>>
>>86132375
Morrison was good. The other writers ended up getting into mediocre crossovers mandated by the superman editors.

Honestly Superman has had shitty sexist editors since the 90s.
>>
>>86162177
Yeah he was a little off there.

I dont think supermans portrayal in that issue was as horrible as some seem to think but it was probably both his worst apperance post rebirth and the worst aquman issue post rebirth.

Really the problem with that issue for both arthur and clark was there should have been an extra 2 pages before the auctual fight started. It needs to be conveyed to readers who have not read the previous issues how frustrating things have been for arthur so his snapping does not make him seem like such a little bitch and superman needs to have been able to say a few of the things he tried to say to arthur during the fight in an eariler moment of peace so supes does not seem so unreasonable.

Basicly the characterisation was not bad the way the characters were presented was.
>>
>>86134153
Ya dumbass he was always in the background ready to give the first timers a chance. It was established in his firat issue. If the league failed in stopping Darksied he would intervene but that never happened. He had faith in this planeta heroes. If shit went south he would def be there to help.
>>
>>86135824
>>86135619
Not just didio. Order came all the way from the top. This is WBs way of making him cool with the modern hip kids. Look at his man of steel costume or the one he wears in supergirl for proof
>>
>>86163924
so he would have waited for them to die before doing anything
>>
>>86163801
It's not just one moment though. Since he's been in this world he seems to be a lot more brutal and viscous than 52 supes. A lot of it seems to be written under the guise of "i need to protect my family" but it comes off as making him seem to be much more of a brute who's willing to initiate violence to protect what's his and he seems less worried about collateral so long as he protects his own. Now protecting your family isn't inherently a bad thing but if you compare it to the end of Morrison run of 52 supes where he was given the chance to rewrite history so that his kents would still be alive he instead chooses to use the wish to save the lives of all the astronauts on mars, willingly sacrificing his own happiness to help other people. I dunno. I think that theres a kinda seperation between current supes and the world that wasn't there with superbro and i don't know if it's going to go away.
>>
>>86163951

I got no problem with either of them, but this is a retarded ass way to do something and is nothing but cheap pandering at the cost of a good story. Post crisis Superman doesn't even have any relation with this worlds Jimmy, Perry, Lois or Lana.
