This should be interesting
>>
>>86124267
Wait a fucking second, this isn't a real issue! That means she's not actually from our world, just one extremely similar.
>>
>>86124267
That does't read like a Benis comic at all
>>
>>86124283
So they're implying the real world was destroyed by an incursion?
>>
>>86124229
What a fatty
>>
>>86124298
>>86124314
I got to admit, I kind of like where this is going.
>>
>>86124298
Wait a fucking second x2, so Miles doesn't remember the Ultimate Universe either? Maybe it was a Flashpoint/New 52 deal like with Flash where your memories of your old universe fade out and get replaced by your new memories over time?

This could all have been cleared up if Bendis had fucking addressed it in his comic instead of needing Gwen to piece it together.
>>
>>86124229
Why do they choose such mediocre cosplays for these covers?
>>
>>86124384
>What are you doing in here?
>What are YOU doing in here?
Yeah it does.
>>
What happened to the animu artist?
>>
>>86124229
I have seen people get the details from super heroe costumes way better than this all the time
>>
>>86124483
The costume itself is good, but the model isn't tall enough.
>>
>>86124404
The fact that the issue of Ultimate Spider-man she's reading isn't a real one that ever came out would imply that she's not actually from the "real world" but just a world that's near identical to ours. Both her universe and ours use 616 as the basis for the main marvel universe and 1610 for the ultimate one, but the actual events that were published in her universe are different than ours. Ever so slightly different.
>>
Hastings is the only one to make Miles tolerable
>>
>>86124514
This and the previous issue are done by a fill-in artist. Gurihiru will be back next issue.
>>
>>86124548
He good in almost all of his guest appearances.
>>
>>86124404
Everythind Died, anon. If you assume that "our world" is part of the Marvel multiverse, then it'd have to have died too.

I wonder what weird continuity discrepancies were caused by Reed fucking up while remaking it.
>Reed and Franklin are responsible for the current ridiculous state of the world
T-Thanks.

>>
>>86124483
I would imagine because they don't want to go for "professional" cosplayers. All of the ones I've seen were well-made but still have that "amateur homemade" look that's still kind of shitty if endearingly so.
>>
>>86124658

>>86124676
Not exactly but close enough. Like the vaguely Sailor Jupiter-looking grill.
>>
>>86124581
Maybe it's the fact that the regular artists are returning soon, but Strychalski and how goofy they make Gwen look is kind of growing on me.
>>
>>86124693
Isn't the girl on the Squirrel Girl cover a famous cosplayer? And I'm pretty sure they used Yaya Han before.
>>
>>86124886
That was just my assumption based on all the ones I've seen so far. If so then I could be wrong.
>>
>>86124860
Same here, I love her face in this third panel >>86124283
>>
>>86124547
Unless that was a real issue, but then Secret Wars happened and when our Earth was remade it had no longer been printed but Gwen still remembers because she's from the pre-Secret Wars real world.
>>

>>86124314
For as much as anti-waifu people shit on gwenpool they have been utilizing her knowledge of the Marvel U in interesting ways like this right here.
>>
>>86124994
That would make sense.

It's genuinely the main reason I'm enjoying this comic so much. The cute is just icing on the cake.

This is hilarious in hindsight, since she didn't actually know how to use one.

I have to say, I really like the googly eyed look she has there in the last panel.
>>
>>86125124

Since she has to ask these questions it gives the impression that she doesn't know about things that happened after secret wars, including retcons that happened post secret wars like Miles's family being alive.

The technical term you're looking for is: RAPEFACE!
>>
>>86125733
No one that already had an active 616 version got to come over. Miles, his parents, Bombshell, Ganke, and Judge were Ultimate-exclusive characters with no 616 counterparts. 616 Reed is outside the universe, so Ultimate Reed took his place (though him coming over seems to be separate from MM's favor to Miles since he directly acknowledges the fact that he's not from this universe unlike Miles).

Unfortunately for Jessica, there's both already a Jessica Drew and already a "clone of Peter Parker."

by "active" do you mean "is currently a super hero" or is alive?

Cause didn't 616 Pete look up Miles and find something like his family was dead or something? Did we ever get to see what he found?
>>
>>86126146
He searched his name on google, then had a shocked face and nothing else ever came of it. Maybe Peter was shocked to find out that there isn't a single person name Miles Morales in the entirety of 616. I'd find that pretty shocking, since it's not like it's that unique of a name.

Bendis actually addressing something to clear up continuity? You sure you're not coming from a different universe? Classic Bendis. Can't keep track of his own retcon history.
>>
>>86124314
And Ultimate Reed, of course.
>>
>>86127493
Because when the writer who created him writes him, he has the equivalent personality of a plank of wet wood.

When other writers write him, they have no clue what to do with him so they just use what they know- Peter.
>>
>>86127493
Seems pretty clear, Miles is boring.
>>
>>86127493
>No personality
Do you guys that say these shit even know what personalities are
>>
>>86127279
Thing is that he's just "teen spider-man" not "black spider-man." His blackness is practically irrelevant to his character regardless of how hard Bendis tries otherwise now that his uncle is dead and thus a non-factor.

You could make Miles white and it really wouldn't change his character much at all. And yes, there is a character there despite what people claim otherwise, it's just not a particularly engaging one.
>>
>>86127527
This wasn't written by Bendis.

When you put it that way, you're right. Miles really does need a catch-phrase. Peter has "crazy town banana pants," so what should Miles' be?

>Only you and your family and other important characters made it here from the ultimate universe!

... ouch
>>
>>86127965
It shows who he is though, he had no idea what he could do to help he just knew he had to do something, so he did something, even if that something is just running into battle screaming. It shows that at the end of the day Miles is just a kid who has no idea how to be a hero, but he still tries.
>>
>>86124298
So this is a definitive, NO, Miles doesn't remember his old universe, right?
>>
>>86128080
So like every teen hero? That doesn't really tell me a lot about Miles as a person, it just tells me that with "great power comes great responsibility."
>>
>>86128166
With the kind of work Marvel editors are doing right now?
No, it isn't
>>
>>86128244
Most at least pretend they know what they're doing when they put on the mask, Miles doesn't, he doesn't try to cover up the fact he's not an expert at being a hero, he doesn't fake confidence, he does what he does with his heart on his sleeve and gets to business.
>>
>>86128368
That's... not a personality quirk, dude. That's just Miles literally not knowing what he's doing. Which is fine for a character arc.
>>
>>86128368
>>86128502
You also have to take into account how a character is written. Even with that "personality" he's still written as being really bland as both a person and a superhero.
>>
So when is Miles going to get his own name?

Because Pete's not going away and being the secondary Spider-Man is pretty de-legitimising for the character.
>>
>>86124298
Hol up

I was sure that Miles remembered Ultimate, that's why that last panel of him in Secret Wars had him so emotional to see his mom.
>>
>>86128502
>>86128592
>Being as straightforward and open as possible isn't a personality quirk
You what? Disliking Miles is fine (because he's as shit as SamNova), but I think you might not understand what a personality is.
>>
>>86127804
What an awful example. You couldn't use the page where he wakes up and realizes his mom is dead and makes the Spiderman NO MORE claim?

>>86128080
That's BULLSHIT, Maria Hill told him what to do. Get there and just save as many people as possible until she could get there with back up. This whole rushing in thing is what got his mom killed. This issue, overall was good and what followed was good but for Miles and his dad it (no pun intended) ultimately led nowhere. Even before he jumped universes it just fizzled out into Miles being a hero just because. Then after the universe hop ANYTHING almost any old plot point or motivation that you could have brought back up gets erased. And there's this thing that's seemingly part of human nature to blame a fictional character. Like a real animosity for someone who doesn't actually exist for the way they behave. And it's ridiculous but natural. You kind of blame what's in front of you. Miles at his best, you kind of hit on. His most interesting story points were when he was uncertain of himself. When he first started and was tackling how to carry on Peters legacy was interesting but dropped. When he was uncertain about being Spiderman and Jessica and Gwen and MJ had to encourage him. was nice. But outside of those few moments. He was just there in a Spiderman costume. And now those moments, at least for now didn't even happen. so "616" is just a guy that's there for no reason. Has no reason to name himself Spiderman, has no reason to be a hero, has no solid personality. And that is the writers fault, that is Bendis's fault. He wanted Miles to be Spiderman and it seems like he didn't think a damn thing through when he was making it happen. Because all the personality he did have which wasn't a lot is gone.

But that's my view on the subject.
>>
>>86128647
Maybe he remembered it initially, but then gradually the old memories faded and he came to believe he was always in 616?

>>86128639
I think it's too late now. He's been established as Spider-man for so long now it might seem weird to just give him a new name.
>>
>>86128639
Honestly I don't see it happening any time soon. I mean in the MU we currently have:
2 Wasps
2 Hulks (as of USAvengers)
2 Captain Americas
2 Nighthawks
2 Hawkeyes
2 Thors
2 Novas
3 Spider-Men
2 Enchantresses
The list goes on I'm sure
>>
>>86128904
>Maybe he remembered it initially, but then gradually the old memories faded and he came to believe he was always in 616?
Probably this. Same thing that happened with Barry in Flashpoint/New 52. Memories of the old universe get rewritten by memories of the new one.
>>
>>86128672
>"he's just going out there and being a super hero!!! he's totally not a wet mop!

Most super heroes just go out there and do what they need to do. Heck, most of the time a lot of them don't know what they're doing or what's going on (ie., Peter, most of the time). He has nothing unique about him, nothing that makes him a character worth following. His character is dry, his stories have been told a thousand times over, and even though that's not a real criticism, they aren't particularly well written. He's an attempt at making a carbon copy modern young Peter, but other characters do it better. There's almost no point to his existence in 616, or to even publish him.
>>
>>86128915
But Ross isn't "Hulk" he's "Red Hulk." The two are distinct.
>>
>>86128974
>Most super heroes just go out there and do what they need to do. Heck, most of the time a lot of them don't know what they're doing or what's going on (ie., Peter, most of the time)
My point was that they at least pretend to know though, they bring a fake confidence with them that usually works in their favor.
>He has nothing unique about him
Neither do most heroes, especially nowadays.
>His character is dry
You haven't really explained why in a reasonable way, you've basically just been repeating "he's boring because I say so, that's not a REAL personality!"
>He's an attempt at making a carbon copy modern young Peter
He's nothing like Peter personality wise, there was never an attempt to make him like Peter.
>but other characters do it better
Name them, I'm not arguing with you here but I really can't think of any characters that were made to catch the young Peter audience.
>There's almost no point to his existence in 616, or to even publish him.
Because he fucking sells.
>>
>>86124314
Holy shit what if Gwenpool is going to be the reason all our favorite parts of the Ultimate universe survive?
>>
>>86127553
What are Miles' interests besides super heroes and dating?
>>
>>86125304
I think he's gonna be alright when Nova comes in, they can bond over being overlooked superheroes. I mean if anyone knows that being a good man doesn't mean being a famous one it's good old Richie.
>>
>>86129333
>My point was that they at least pretend to know though, they bring a fake confidence with them that usually works in their favor.
Alright, so he's an honest guy. Y'know, like a lot of other super heroes.
>You haven't really explained why in a reasonable way, you've basically just been repeating "he's boring because I say so, that's not a REAL personality!"
Uh, because he's fucking boring. That's why his character is dry. You say this
>Neither do most heroes, especially nowadays.
but at least most of the younger characters are written well enough that I want to see their stories.
>He's nothing like Peter personality wise, there was never an attempt to make him like Peter.
I and other anons have pointed this out already.
>Name them, I'm not arguing with you here but I really can't think of any characters that were made to catch the young Peter audience.
Kamala and Sam. There's more comparisons with them to Peter of than "lol TEENAGERS" and they make those comparisons better than Miles does.
>>
>>86127279
Well he's pretty different from Peter socially it seems. He's written as a lot less annoying to other superheroes and a bit more self assured. Miles isn't pretending to be self-assured like Peter still is he actually IS self-assured though cause he's a comic book character that's pretty new it's not set in stone.
>>
>>86129544
I think that's the question he's asking, anon.
>>
>>86129663
especially since he's written by Brian "fuck characterization" Bendis.

>Alright, so he's an honest guy. Y'know, like a lot of other super heroes.
Holy shit how could you miss the point so hard, the point is most heroes (with secret identities) act differently when they put on the mask, but Miles stays himself.
>Uh, because he's fucking boring. That's why his character is dry. You say this
So you have no real argument.
>but at least most of the younger characters are written well enough that I want to see their stories.
Fair enough.
>Kamala and Sam. There's more comparisons with them to Peter of than "lol TEENAGERS" and they make those comparisons better than Miles does.

>Holy shit how could you miss the point so hard, the point is most heroes (with secret identities) act differently when they put on the mask, but Miles stays himself.
So he has one personality point that's really generic and not even unique to him in the slightest? Fuck man, Peter is a goofball in real life and as Spider-Man.
>So you have no real argument.
And you have no counter argument. Telling me he's honest isn't a rebuttal to him being drying paint.
>I haven't read Kamala so I can't say anything about her but how is Sam at all like Peter?
Mainly the "I have these cool powers so I'm better than you guys" thing. They both mellowed out of that pretty quick though.

>>
>>86130021
>Oh, so you haven't read any Sam either.
Sam is fucking awful, he only ever gets a pass for being so shit on /co/ because of the suffering meme. He's had no compelling stories aside from the Beta Ray Bill and Kluh stories, 90% of his fights have been him just fucking annihilating his opponent (kind of like the Venom Blast but /co/ let's it slide because "he suffers"), he's had no reason to fight in an interesting way because of how outmatched his opponents usually are, and his personality isn't any better than Miles'.

And all of that is before volume 6 which is just a complete shit-show of "boo hoo I'm so sad other heroes don't want to be my friend even though I have tons of non-civilian friends I could hang out with" and Sean Ryan showing off that he didn't read volume 5. Sam is a black hole that sucks in all potential and destroys it, he's added nothing of interest to his own book or any of the other books he's appeared in, in fact if Captain Falcon wasn't there he'd be the worst part of ANAD Avengers. Sam, like Miles, is a character designed to be forgotten, and when he finally is no one will care, but unlike Miles, Sam doesn't even have the sales to justify his existence.

He's as shitty as Miles but sells worse, truly one of the most pointless characters that currently has a book.

Reminder to read this book for best boy in 616
>>
>>86131763
Ewing's Ultimates and New Avengers, Contest of Champions, Spider-Man/Deadpool, Johns' Aquaman, King's Batman so far has been alright, Yost's Scarlet Spider, Robin War, King's Vision, and probably other stuff I can't think of at this exact moment.
>>
>>86132050
John's Aquaman is shit
you have bad taste besides Ewing and Kane love
>>
>>86132377

>Johns anything
>Shit

Johns got too popular on /co/ I see
>>
Can't stand the art of these two issues, it's almost enough to make me rethink picking up the trade.
>>
>>86132449
Johns made an ok Avengers, JSA and that mini-series for his sister
besides that, what has he done good at all?
He's Bendis, but with more power.
>>
>>86132890
His Flash and Green Lantern are GOAT
>>
>>86132578
It's just two issues. Gurihiru will be back after this.
>>
>>86133102
>Gurihiru will be back after this.
What a fucking waste of top tier talent.
>>
>>86124283

> Complaining about stupid 'big events' that fuck up all the ongoing storylines.

I think I like Gwen.
>>
>>86132890
>Aside from a series of runs lasting about half his career and ignoring several of his critically and commercially successful runs on other characters, what good has he done?
>>
>>86131984

I'm pretty sure Cecil is going to become a supervillain dedicating to murdering Gwen because of all the shit she has put him through.
>>
>>86128019
>only character I wanted to survive
>dies

every time.
>>
>>86133293
>While having the civil war II tag
How is this a tie in again?
>>
I want Miles to eat out Gwen's ass. Like she's bending over to pick something up and Miles just pulls her pants down and shoves his tongue right into the hole. Next panel is the combo look of surprise on Gwen's face as it happens as well as the shame that she feels because she enjoys it so much
>>
>>86129445

That does sound cool
>>
>>86134220
NO PANTS
BIG BOOTS
>>
>>86124283
Heh, note she replaced Peter's poster with Miles above her bed in her present room.

Don't bother talking with /pol-co/ on this: Miles isn't in the background not being noticed like a good black character and, ya know, boogie man Bendis in involved so nothing can ever be right as far as Miles is concerned .
>>
>>86135135
Man, people are trying real hard to defend bland writing.

>>86124479
>If Miles isn't aware that he's not from the Ultimate-verse then his entire origin story, his motivations, and previous exploits no longer exists which would eventually force Bendis to redo everything about Miles from the ground up.

>If Miles is aware that he's from the Ultimate-verse then he should rightfully be going through a Morty moment where he has to face the reality that all of his true friends/family are probably dead and now he has to live with a bunch of carbon copies in their stead which would rightfully lead to a mental breakdown or at the very least a substantial amount of angst.
Both answers open up a giant can of worms that Bendis probably wants to avoid adressing all together.
>>
>>86134523
Miles reached the age of consent
>>
>>86135305
Nah, just people putting in some effort and read the material first instead of ad liping the latest buzzword on /co/.
>>
>>86133963
It isn't. The solicit even says "This is not a Civil War 2 tie-in."
>>
somebody storytime the latest issue of Rocket and Groot.

OK, but you probably won't like it.

Gwen doesn't know who Rocket and Groot are?

>OPINIONS THAT DIFFER FROM MINE SCARE ME
>>
>>86137359
Yeah, that seemed weird to me. Even if she never read any Guardians of the Galaxy, it'd be weird for her not to at least know them from the movie.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>86124283
Is that Chel figure? Why is she holding a stick
>>
>>
I do like this cover.
>>
>>86137359
She's pretending so they don't think she's insane, I guess.
>>
>>86137445
That was alright. Enjoyed some of the jokes, though Gwenpool's meta jokes were pretty flat. That whole bit with her not knowing Groot and Rocket was really odd, especially considering those two are even involved in this because the movie was such a hit.

Also missed opportunity in not something involving her showing doubt that she's the main character in this issue.
>>
I'm glad Gwen doesn't have cellulite
>>
>>86137389
Calling everything shit isn't an opinion though. Nice buzz phase you got there at least.
>>
>>86137801
"This character is boring" in my opinion. I shouldn't have to say "in my opinion" every time just to appease your mental retardation.
>>
>>86137856
>strawman statements
>parroting off with no original thought
>everyone's "retarded" for not jumping muh bandwagon
Perhaps if you actually tried, what you say could actually be taken for as an opinion. Until then it's called for what is: lazy. Goodnight.

Captain America Corps 2 when?
>>
>>86124349

Well, OBVIOUSLY our world changed a bit after Reed and the FF remade it, and Gwen fell through the cracks when that happened, so she remembers our universe as it was before Secret Wars.

Very DC
>>
>>86133102
I know but 2 issues is 1/3 of the first trade.

It's easier to market a name that everyone knows, rather than a literally who that requires extra legwork to make people care about.

In the end, Marvel just likes taking the easy and cheap way out.

One of them is the Adam Kubert one. First revealed in the November solicits.
>>
>>86137445
First Angela, now Spawn?

It's supposed to be showing that Gwen's fourth wall powers might be used for more than just jokes and references in regards to the incursion.
>>
I still don't like this art. Fucking fisheyes don't work for Gwen.
>>
>>86144300

It's also showing that she has the social skills of a dooknob.
>>
>>86144320
It's been evident in her old issues. She's kinda like the obnoxious fan of an actor who likes to blurt out how much she knows about that actor's franchise lores.
>>
>>86137456
I probably would never have bothered with this issue if not for this GOAT cover.
>>
>>86124210
WHY DON'T YOU GUYS LIKE MILES YET??
HE'S IN ALL YOUR FAVOURITE BOOKS
ULTIMATE WAS COOL
HES A HIP POC FOR THE MODERN AGE!

SLOTT WONT LET ME REPLACE PETER WITH HIM TILL YOU GUYS ACCEPT HIM SO FUCKING DO IT ALREADY
>>
>>86128019
We've got another upcoming Clone Saga. She'll be back.

Maybe she can take over Parker Industries after Peter fucks off.
>>
>>86145595
You do realize that Mile's books are among the top selling second only to Peter's. The hate this character gets is mostly a /co/ thing.
>>
I really hope Gwenpool addresses that fact we still have no idea what Regular Universe Peter saw when he googled Miles.
>>
>>86145770
>second only to Peter's
Miles' book actually beats Peter's in digital sales.
>>
>>86124483

Anyone got examples of the others?
>>
>>86138335
