I actually think most people who get really into the new Trek movies do go back to watch TOS. (And NextGen and DS9 and maybe even Voyager. No one should watch Enterprise, though. )

I prefer new universe Spock/Kirk, because the dynamics between them is more my type of ship. TOS Kirk&Spock is a little too much like a Greek tragedy for me to actively get into.

That's interesting. To me, the first two new movies are really heavy on Spock/Kirk. Especially Into Darkness is really hard for me to even try to wrap my head around without reading it as Kirk pining for Spock and Spock realizing in the end how much Kirk did mean to him. Like, logically I understand other people can watch the movie without seeing it as a blatant romance movie, but that is how I saw it.
And no, it wasn't because I went into the movie looking for it; I was aware of Spock/Kirk for many years, but it never clicked with me, until I was watching Into Darkness and found myself in awe at how obviously it was a love story between the two of them.

Some of them do and have been less than graceful about the shift in ships. Claiming Sam is a HYDRA plant or that Bucky would just abuse Steve, that he was working for HYDRA semivoluntarily, that he was a jerk who bullied Steve in the first movie and only kept him around to feel good about himself, that even if he's a good person his latent HYDRA programming made him unfit for Steve, or other stupid shit like that. Funnily enough a lot of their shittier behavior reminds me of Klance fans in Voltron fandom. Those types of ships probably attract similar types of fans. Even the inter-ship breakdowns are kinda similar. Like how the Stevecentric Stony fans are usually on the chiller side and multiship or leave Bucky and Sam alone if they don't ship, and Keithcentric Klance fans either multiship Sheith or just ignore it altogether. While the Tonycentric ones are the ones who got super butthurt when TWS came out, and Lancecentric Klance fans are the source of almost all the pedophile drama and calling Shiro a pedo or abuser whose very existence somehow puts Lance in danger and who they can't wait to see die next season.

It's rather serious, considering that the driving force of the plot is that both Achilles and Patroclus know that Achilles' desire for glory will kill him. Hell, the entire reason Achilles' mom disapproves of them is because she sees Patroclus as enabling Achilles.

No blatant fanservice but he gets roughed up a lot and there's implied abuse/experimentation/torture in his past if you're into that. It's an OK show. Has real tone problems and some shallow characterization on the other three male paladins, but it's alright. Better than season 1 of Korra though not as good as first Avatar's.
