Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Part 1 will replace One Punch Man starting October 15th.

Intruder 3 is coming in November. It will have a smaller budget than 2, and will be about 15 minutes worth of content.

A new season of Samurai Jack is being made for Adult Swim Toonami. 10 episodes in length, TV14 minimum, delayed till 2017.

Adult Swim is funding two new 6 episode seasons of FLCL. Expected release is late 2017/early 2018.

Amusingly, OPM reruns were far more consistent with viewers, and without the sharp IBO drop, the marathon actually did better than the regular lineup the past month or so.

schedule change: Adult Swim loses 8pm again on the 26th. Demarco is stating this is temporary on his ask.fm, like last year. No idea how it affects the Saturday pre/post Toonami schedule yet, we'll see when the schedule XML updates Saturday morning. It's gonna be a unique situation, because post-Toonami will actually be longer than pre-Toonami for the first time. Adult Swim has been avoiding putting Family Guy after Toonami since the timecut, they might have to now.
A new Off the Air called "Clowns" and a rerun of "NEWNOW" causes five Home Movies episodes to be skipped from the 19th through the 23rd.

I actually am really enjoying it. Most shows that air on Toonami I've already watched subbed, but I held out on HxH for whatever reason. And for other anime that I've watched subbed, I've already read the manga, so I knew what was going to happen. It is the first anime I've watched since I was a kid where I don't know what's gonna happen next, so each episode is interesting. I'm not saying the story is a 1000/10, but I do think it is rather good compared to other things that I've know little of.

Should I feel bad for saying that watching it is the most hype time of the week for me?

>>
>>86117269
Assuming Jojo takes no breaks between parts, and assuming we stick to six marathons per year (Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years), the Jojo airdates will be approximately this:

>Phantom Blood: October 15th
>Battle Tendency: January 7th, 2017
>Stardust Crusaders: May 6th, 2017
>Diamond is Unbreakable: May 19th, 2018
>Vento Aureo: March 23rd, 2019
>>
>>86117269
>>86117457
That's assuming that the horrible dubs don't turn people off the show
>>
>>86112064
Plus season 2.
>>
>>86117556
Phantom Blood's dub is acceptable, and Battle Tendency's dub has a certain camp charm to it. Stardust Crusaders doesn't sound bad so far either.

I think it will do fine.
>>
>>86117556
I was under the impression the Viz dub was an entirely new one.
>>
>>86116043
The manga is great, it has flaws like anything but I can't think of any massive complaints

The anime is where the problem is at. Thanks to Toei, it's jammed full of padding and filler, common methods are 5-7 minutes recaps of the last episode, and showing individual panels of everyone's reaction to something. The anime actually gets worse padding wise after Thriller Bark. Also, when actually spoken, the constant screaming is pretty grating.

It's biggest issue on Toonami is there is no chance it will ever air all its episodes. Toonami should not being wasting slots on shows it will never finish, especially when said show constantly underperforms.
>>
>>86117582
Demarco has to see what a drag it is on the ratings. Last weeks HxH spike and this weeks marathon consistency have to be red flags to Demarco that IBO is not meshing with the audience
>>
>>86118413
> Toonami should not be wasting slots on shows it will never finish

That's a completely nonsense argument, you may as well argue that television networks should never air any show that's currently ongoing, since there's no way to verify if they'll ever finish. This is such an intellectually dishonest position against longrunning shows. Animes can run longer than 24 episodes, you know.

> when said show constantly underperforms

lol if you think Toonami's going to drop One Piece, the franchise is a huge pillar of mainstream anime and manga culture. Don't quit your day job to play backseat ratings analyst. If you're only able to enjoy Toonami via how high the ratings are you need to get help.

>>
>>86118540

It's not like IBO was a ratings success in Japan either. With it's Sunday Evening timeslot, which is one of the best on Japanese TV I might add, it only managed 2.25%. That's pretty low, equal to parts 3 and 4 of Gundam AGE (when most people had already left), and down from the previous show's (Heroic Legend of Arslan) 3% average.

G-Reco actually had more impressive ratings. Sure, they're only 1.8%, but the show aired at 2am on a Tuesday. For that timeslot, those are some great numbers. 2% for late night anime is considered about the point where you start calling something a smash hit, and G-Reco had a number of episodes above that line (including the finale).

Conversely, when episodes of IBO dipped under 2% it's producer went to twitter to tell people it will pick up more towards the end.
>>
>>86116043
The art is terrible. I want the characters to all die immediately so I don't have to look at them. They all have inhuman proportions, either swelled up like balloons or reduced to disgusting flesh noodles.

That's the problem that immediately jumps out to me. I would also say that the dub is really bad, with multiple characters' voices really grating on my ears.
>>
>>86118677
Fuck off Demarco, a once a week block should not air so many long runners. And it's been said a billion times, the west does not care about OP like Japan does. Especially 8 year old dubbed episodes of the dogshit anime

Now that these two teamed up, any thoughts on what will happen with Toonami? Since Funimation's dubs will be easily available online (not like they aren't already, but by "legal streaming) people may not be as inclined to watch on television. Could also be good though, maybe people will watch something online, like it and for whatever reason they'll decide to watch it on Toonami.

Honestly?

It's decent up until the time skip, with the war arc right before it being pretty fucking great, look forward to that in like five years when Toonami gets to it.

Then immediately switch it off, because after that all the characters get Flanderized, Sanji especially, and then there' Fishman Island and there will be no fucking survivors when Toonami is stuck there for like two years, and then Punk Hazard happens which was so uninteresting I just stopped after that.

How an anime focused on exploration and adventure can be so shit at both of those things is beyond me.
>>
>>86122821
Toonami has always been a dated system. Aside from 1-2 world premieres, Toonami has brought nothing to the table aside from being nostalgiabait. A little competition might do it some good.

Bad news though is this probably takes all Funi shows off the table for Toonami. And since they hoard the majority of them, that's a bad setup

It's important to note that the Mob Psycho 100 dub is going to be released within the next 3.5 weeks at the latest, since Funi is advertising it as a broadcast dub which as far as I know means it'll have to start before the last 3 episodes air.

Specifically they say this:
>What changes are coming to FunimationNow? In the coming weeks will have English dub for Free! -Iwatobi Swim Club, and The Testament of Sister New Devil. We’ve also announced upcoming Broadcast Dubs for 91 Days, Orange, and Mob Psycho 100.

So unless it's going to join Toonami out of nowhere in the next 3 weeks it probably won't be anytime soon since they haven't picked up any of Funimation's broadcast dubs that premiered online first. Although in their video when they talk about the broadcast dubs they do use footage from a Dimension W recording...

But if the relationship between Toonami and Funimation is as strained as it seems we probably shouldn't expect any new Crunchyroll series on the block anymore either.

Why didn't they air Gundam Build Fighters instead of IBO? Do they not want free Gunpla money from confused teenagers buying with their dick after seeing the milf?
>>
>>86133997
Trust me. I once saw an argument against the show that went something like this.

> The show glorified child soldiers. Their lives get better the more they fight, whereas other Gundams showed how it had more of a negative impact on them.

> They want to quit fighting one day, and Mika wants to be a farmer. Therefore, it doesn't glorify child soldiers.

Guess who people agreed with. The fact Tekkadan's happiness would be bought with blood money seems to be over their heads.
>>
>>86134107
Gunpla isn't a big market in the US, why air a meta show about the companion figure line? Would it get any better ratings than IBO?
>>
>>86134107
There might be some problems with the FCC if the Gunpla boxes are unedited. Not sure if that would be the case if it aired late though.

Though honestly? It's probably because Bandai and Sunrise have given more promotion to IBO than any other TV Gundam since AGE flopped. This is the show they expect big things out of, and set up the dub before the second episode aired. That's why. They didn't have that much faith in GBF, hence why they only put it on their youtube channel instead of Crunchyroll and the like.
>>
>>86134107
The dub of Build Fighters is really poor.

And I don't just mean the voice acting (which itself suffers from terrible miscasting), I mean the audio quality sounds like it was recorded with cheap microphones in a booth that wasn't properly soundproofed.

GBF is a show that would thrive during the daytime, whereas adult swim viewers wouldn't like it because most would see it as too "kiddy".
Problem with airing during the day, is that Bandai would have to go through the entire show and edit out the product placement, such as gunpla box boxart.

The real question is why didn't they air 00? The dub is decent, and they even dubbed the movie.

No fucking way Home Movies is a REAL Adult Swim show. It was way too tame and kid-oriented for that and I definitely remember seeing it air first run on Cartoon Network in the early 00s. I think it what happened was after it ended it just ended up being random kid-appropriate filler programming used by Adult Swim to transition back into Cartoon Network in the very late night/early morning. They used to do that with stuff like Popeye and Astro Boy and old TV-Y7 Toonami animes.

Initially, it tanked the ratings for Toonami, that caused people to dislike it here. After it was pulled, it was rarely mentioned here again.

The past year is where it really became a meme
>post home movies images
>TG REEEEEEEs
>bicker over show
After awhile people became indifferent to it
>people still post home movies images
>gets a few nibbles or ironic replies
>post strawpolls about it sucking and everyone votes yes because they don't give a shit
>ends up making people on other sites butthurt

Also there was that time period Demarco confirmed it was banned from airing ever again, but apparently Demarco just didn't give a shit about the question because a few months back he said that wasn't true, and here we are today with it back on.

tldr, /co/ comes in here weekly with Home Movies shitposts because it used to trigger autists. It really should be deleted as off topic

Maybe so, but it's ratings weren't as awful as posters here made them out to be, just highly inconsistent.
>>
>>86139566

>>
>>86139644
>b-b-but it's a CLEARLY kids show because it's about kids and the first episode has a booger joke forced in (because UPN was desperately after that young male demographic at the time) and also it's rated TV-PG and so are Cartoon Network kids shows
>>
I actually like Home Movies and I get why they tried to air it as a gateway show between Cartoon Network and Adult Swim because in the early years, it often held that slot and it's generally not nearly as offensive as other shows. But honestly, putting it by itself unannounced in a primetime slot where casual-viewer FOX reruns usually air, it was up against literally everything else on tv, and in an era where Adult Swim is expected to be a hugely dominating force in the ratings, obviously Home Movies was not going to do great ratings wise(and sometimes it did fine and sometimes it did really mediocre to downright poor).

If they were going to air it in primetime at all, they should have stuck it in between King of the Hill and Bob's Burgers since those shows are linked stylistically and via cast/crew. But honestly, it would be better served airing on weeknights at 1:00 AM and/or 5:30 AM (as the transition to Cartoon Network programming) like it used to back in the second half of the last decade.

Personally, I don't think DVR Theater is a great slot for it since it's too late for people to stay up for (unless you're a night owl on the west coast who gets the east coast feed) and too early to catch before school/work.

Pretty much this. The show is a central part of Japanese pop culture, so if it got out over there that they were licensing it for cheap it would make the franchise look desperate.

It's kinda like how after SEED flopped over here, one of the producers blamed the show's failure on America.

>The North American market is difficult. Gundam depicts war through the eyes of characters like Amuro and Kira, who are against fighting. These types of characters and the cruelty of war lend themselves to anti-war themes. But a protagonist like Amuro isn't acceptable in the North American market. It has to be a type of character who fights for his country. If we end up creating a Gundam for the North American market, it will be entirely different from the anti-war Gundam of Japan. I doubt if we could call that Gundam. Instead of introducing the anime to the North American market, we want them to know the story. For example, knowing about Gundam through video games, then going to watch the animated series.

It's kinda funny he says this after about Kira, ignoring the fact Kira went around attacking the Minerva only to protect ORB soldiers. And Amuro wasn't against fighting, he trained military pilots after the original series.

>>86138708
I like to think they're doing the same thing Nintendo did with Other M. They're trying to make the cast more appealing to Japanese audiences regardless of prior games, or in IBO's case regardless of the reality of the situation. There are a lot of viewers in Japan who call Mika evil.

I still don't understand how One Piece has bad pacing
>>
>>86160904
Because of the way TV works in Japan. You absolutely can not take time off, if you do then you lose your timeslot. So, Toei has to pad out every single chapter into an episode so they don't get back to a point of needing legitimate filler arcs.

And thanks to how autistically loyal Japanese OP fans are, they lap up every shitty episode with a smile on their face and demand more. So it's a 2 level cycle, Toei has to do something to fill time, but they see they can put in the absolute bare minimum and still have people tune in. So that's what we get

Starting the 1st, this is the new pre/post Toonami schedule

8:00 - CN has this hour now. Steven Universe is airing here.
9:00 - Bob's Burgers
9:30 - Bob's Burgers
10:00 - American Dad
10:30 - Family Guy
11:00 - Family Guy

3:00 - Bob's Burgers
3:30 - Bob's Burgers
4:00 - American Dad
4:30 - The Cleveland Show
5:00 - King of the Hill
5:30 - King of the Hill

They'll do anything to keep Family Guy from airing after Toonami, huh?
>>
>>86168768
Well, we always wanted SU on Toonami and this is the closest its going to get.
>>
>>86117767

I keep hearing that as well.

and that only Patrick Seitz is staying as Dio.

I mean the dub was mediocre for the most part and this is coming from a dubfag but there were some solid performances in it.

Keith Silverstein as Speedwagon
Wendee Lee as Lisa Lisa
Paul St. Peter as Wammu and Jack the Ripper
Chris Jai Alex as Esidisi (he's the guy that's doing Lord Boros in OPM)

even to an extent Ben Diskin as Joseph was fine, even if he sounds way lighter than Sugita. it's kind of amusing how Diskin ended up voicing the younger version of Richard Epcar again (Ansem in Kingdom Hearts)

I think Stardust Crusaders will be a good dub though from what I've heard. No forced accents and mostly fitting castings. though Kyle Hebert as Kakyoin is kind of a miscast IMO but who knows.

as for Part 4.

I want Ray Chase as Josuke, Erik Kimerer as Koichi, Bill Rogers or Edward Bosco for Okuyasu, Kevin T. Collins as Rohan, Brina Palencia as Yukako and if they can get him, Andrew Philpot for Yoshikage Kira. (and before you ask no he's not Kars that was always John DeMita)
