I think this is Ricky's best work. The combination of Rick's demeanor, Steve's level-headedness, and Karl's charming stupidity came together to make something beautiful and memorable.

Now make me a reviewer, already.

Because alone they're opinionated idiots rambling on about their opinions no one cares about.
Together they have entertaining stupid arguments.
Karl alone would just explain his idea and never really go in depth or try to explain it. Ricky and Steve egg him on so he try and articulate his weird ideas. And either they fall apart or he exposes a weird kind of logic on how he got there. Either way it's entertaining to listen to. Ricky alone would just be the smug prick that Rick is. Steve just doesn't have the personality to carry on alone. So all together they create a machine that gets the most out of Karl. Or better yet, Karl is the cow, Stephen and Ricky are the milk machine.

Ricky has even admitted as much on the show. He says Karl is smarter than he thinks, it's just that he's really, really bad at articulating his points, so even when he's not talking shit, it comes out that way.

Though it does kill me when people say that Rick and Steve should just have been nicer to Karl and let him talk. Because the humor came from them egging him on. Even when Karl had a point, it's supposed to be for humor.

They all of them have average INT and WIS.

Karl overclocks his stats to come to creative and occasionally insightful conclusions at the price of being unable to communicate them in full. Despite failing conventional communication he still manages to be charming due to his interesting conclusions and CHA bonus.

Ricky plays it safe to the point of under using his stats, leaning on common knowledge instead. However, he still puts on airs of mental superiority. If he has a CHA bonus it is not applied to him, since he comes off as shrill. However it does work as a foil to Karl. -CHA to Ricky, +CHA to Karl, some kind of odd Aid Other action.

Steve is just straight up unmodified average but ends up being the best/least annoying communicator.

I just listened to this episode yesterday, working through the XFM from the start. Thanks for this, I forgot to look it up.

quite a cunt. but once in a while he admits it and says he's terrible.
he basically comes off like a guy who, on paper, should be absolutely awful interacting with others, but just happens to be a good enough actor to fake it.

i love how this is what qualifies as karl going mental
and he just honestly wants to shed light on a guy being demonstrably ugly and what he thinks of it. just like they, just the same, wanted to poke fun at how karl actually has a girlfriend

i cant blame you there but it doesn't bother me.

I like him in the office. I like that other thing, where he works on a tv show that gets out of hand. i hate who he is as a person but i like a lot of his writing, i like his awkward humor, and i like that he never casts himself as the mary sue, always as the piece of garbage.

right, so after listening to a couple of these. I can see why the group might have fallen apart. I think Steve and Karl Dilkington just got too nasty with each other at one point and Karl keeps bringing up how funny he thinks steve looks and how he thinks hes gunna end up lonely cause he is tight with money.

And after watching the ricky gervais show seasons 1-4 I am surprised because most times it would be steve trying to calm rickys nonsense and trying to allow karl to get a word in and explain himself, but it seems as though the whole thing between them really soured.

He's not thinking though. He'll take a metaphor or hypothetical and run it in an asinine direction.

They ask him "If you could have a super power" he thinks that if he says one he's gonna be obligated to join the avengers Tuesday.
>>
It seems there is a lot of times when Karl will say something that either makes a decent amount of sense if you take a moment to think about what he means, or there are times where he will straight out say something that is in fact true.

And ricky will just sit there and say its bullshit and not true because its easy.

an example being when karl asked if people think in their accent. and ricky just brushed it off saying people only have thoughts and never hear their voice in their head as they think, Yet I can safely say I think thoughts in my head all the time in complete sentences and its often in my own voice. I dont just think emotions at people and have a quite upstairs like mr gervais who sees the world in black and white. Ricky seems like a close minded individual with no ounce of thought between his ears.

another example is when karl was trying to remember how old he was when he was at a wedding and ricky made fun of him for not knowing right off the bat because he had to think about it. sorry but if something is longer than 5-6 years ago I have to give it a second to try and remember things.
>>
>>86141204
>He'll take a metaphor or hypothetical and run it in an asinine direction.
Good, people who use hypotheticals in lieu of arguments deserve worse.
>he thinks that if he says one he's gonna be obligated to join the avengers Tuesday.
That's basically true though?

>>
>>86141204
he wants to try and give a interesting answer or try and belt one out that ricky wont jump on like an idiot because even when karl gives series answers ricky just pokes at his answers. personally I think Karl is sometimes dicking around when he answers them.
>>
>>86141227
>Good, people who use hypotheticals in lieu of arguments deserve worse.

Except it's not an argument it's a listener question or something like that.

>Someone with super powers who doesn't be a hero or join up with similar bullshit organizations will be attacked by society easily.

It's a hypothetical. It's not going to happen either way.

wasps and mosquitos contribute absolutely nothing to the environment.

if either were to go extinct tomorrow our world would have a slight imbalance and then fix itself and we would be better for it.

There are in fact animals that do not need to be around.
>>

>>86141302

Figs are specialists when it comes to pollination and require certain wasp species, much like some orchids that can only be pollinated by certain bees.

>>
>>86141360

>>
>>86141348
ok, now I know you are talking out your ass, because orchids make a nectar that make bees drunk and most bees that drink from them often go off and die.
>>
>>86141374

>>
>>86141381
he is pacing himself for the story, he stops so if need be ricky or steve can ask questions because thats the point of monkey news.
>>
>>86141379

Because he doesn't get hypothetical. Asking him what super power he'd like results in him fighting you every step of the way instead of saying "flight" or "wall crawling' or whatever
>>
>>86141371
I wonder if we could make them smaller and more house worthy like we did with dogs and cats?, but what would we breed them with to make them smaller?
>>
>>86141414

No Karls just middle aged and doesn't give a fuck about superheroes. SO when you say Superhero to him his mind instantly goes to Superman an he assumes he can do everything Superman can. It's why bullshit man was able to fly and he couldn't understand why that was wrong
>>
>>86141425
Smaller pandas or maybe other species.

Knowing Chinese people those would be horrifyingly unhealthy
>>
>>86141451

So say Superman and move on. It's not a question that involves an argument from him.

What power would you like
Superman
Next question
>>
>>86141386

>orchids make a nectar that makes bees drunk

This is the first time I've ever heard of that. Some orchids do attract pollinators by giving them certain chemicals (which they need to synthesize pheromones) as a reward, so maybe you meant that.
To get back on topic, figs are so adapted to wasp species that you had non-native fig trees in Florida that didn't even reproduce until the wasp that was adapted to them also was introduced into the area.
>>
>>86141467

But you don't understand why Karl doesn't understand. Superman is the superhero so to Karl all Superheroes have those powers by default

Prime example of Karl actually thinking compared to the other two.
>Which did she choose?
>I don't think that's the point.
It is actually. Talking in generalities strip a choice like that of all meaning and make it into a simple line of pathos that ends all discussion right then and there "Oh no she had to make a terrible choice".
Compared to: "Christ, how did she go about making a choice like that." which can be brought into discussions of love and ego, practicality, utilitarianism etc.
>>
>>86141688
>It is actually.

No it's not you fucking retard. the point of the story was that a women was forced to make a dreadful soul destroying choice and how it effected her life you literate pile of shit. It wasn't a story about which of her kids WON which is what he was asking.
