Good evening owls of /co/,
Christmas issue!
>>86102364
Hello Storyteller.
Does Santa exist in the DCU? Surely several characters must've met him by now.
Hi OP.
Today proves that the best comics day of the month is whenever Flintstones is out.
>>86102436
>>86102451
isn't it just?
there is a comics God Dog out there looking out for us, and I suspect her name is "Marie Javins"
>>86102436
http://comicsalliance.com/dc-marvel-santa-claus-comics-ask-chris-174/
Cyborg was surprisingly good
The arc has an interesting premise so I'm on board desu
>>86102492
Some anon is storytiming Nexus day-by-day and I guess a lot of you guys have read Nexus, but if you haven't you def want to read Nexus:
>>86100901
>>86102513
oh god oh god oh god
>>86102451
I need to check it out some time but Prez didn't impress me much and the "IT'S THE BESTEST EVER" posts make me think this won't be much better.
>>86102575
ugh, this ship
>>86102575
CRISIS AVERTED
whew!
>>86102594
Ah it is GOOD anon. I mean I liked Prez but at the same time for me Flintstones >>> Prez. There's this goddamn black spite to the humor that is my jam.
>>86102634
>"I don't love you."
>"You don't?!"
IVE NEVER BEEN HAPPIER TO SEE A CHARACTER GET FRIENDZONED!
>>86102634
Thank Grodd
>>86102651
>>86102659
I KNOW, RIGHT?
Mutual friendzone is the best of all possible worlds, here.
>>86102492
What else does she edit apart from Deathstroke?
>>86102642
Eh, we'll see. Pres had the constant "THIS SI THE BESTEST EVUR" posts too but I'm hoping it's all one the same guy.
>>86102634
Halo's super-family thing is really charming even being slightly dated. She has a super-mom and a super-dad and a super-big-brother and it's great.
I probably couldn't say anything about the quality of Nyx now, which was one of the first American comics that I read when I was pretty young. But it reminds me of the finding a family vibe in that. I always want to see these characters grow and pass it on and take that supporting, familial happiness to other characters themselves.
>>86102702
Javins is now head of the H-B line and brought us both Prez and ASS8 and now SP/DW. She does Special Projects and now, apparently, it's more of a system at DC wherein people can request their editor.
Honestly I haven't read much that came out today. Supergirl was ok I guess, liked how the thread derailed into Brainy discussion for a bit.
>>86102436
He did, then Lobo killed him
>>86102701
Second best is that bit in Seinfeld where Jerry breaks up with a woman when they both say, with a smile, "I hate you!"
>>86102702
What impresses me about the Flintstones is how precise and on-point everything is. Even the throw-away jokes are pretty cutting, and it casts a wide net.
>>86102701
It was such a bad ship. I don't know what they were thinking.
I wonder if the letters columns had people bitching about it too.
>>86102749
We don't need Krypton, man. Just do some Braniac family comics.
>>86102749
Flintstones was the only thing I read today
apparently every other book on my pull list comes out next week though
>>86102786
I appreciate the density of the visual gags
I winced at "Home of the Fighting Tree People" because that's 100% dead-fucking-on.
>>86102634
>I only made out with you because you reminded me of my sister
Whatever, I'll take it. At least this ship is over now.
>>86102436
Spectre Hal got to hang out with Santa a little!
>>86102825
In 2016 this would probably be "I don't love you, but I'm still down to fuck"
Though the 80s Captain Atom run we read did just that so I'm probably talking bullshit.
>>86102734
>Javins is now head of the H-B line
Is this a recent thing? because I remember Russell saying Didio called him up for Flinstones. Anyway, she and Khouri fucked up with Clock king beign two different people between Deatshtroke and Green Arrow.
>>86102859
no Brion is pure
>>86102820
>>86102807
I'm tempted to look for oldscans to get letters
You know? I'm not too miserable at the idea of Geo-Force killing a straight-up sexual abuser dean.
>>86102820
That one got me, as did the reason for Fred's catchphrase
>>86102884
Surely, out of all villains, that kind of still works for Clock King?
>>86102884
Deathstroke Clock King was dying anyway, maybe he recruited a legacy
>>86102846
That was a weird issue. He fucking saved Christmas from Scrooge.
I got a nice chuckle out of that Kite Man page.
>>86102884
yeah, she got promoted at the same time Jamie Rich got Vertigo promoted
>>86102915
Also now you realize what Fred's doing with the yabba in the first issue, when he gets the invite to Slate's party
>>86102884
There are two Clock Kings anyway, the Batman one and the Green Arrow one. It's a long messy story.
>>86102922
No man.
>>86102931
Nah, totally different from one another. The one in GA seems to be the same that was in Lemire GA too.
>>86102952
It's a really well composed page!
>>86102937
>That was a weird issue
every issue of Spectre Hal's run could probably count as a weird issue, to be honest. I love that book so much
>>86102954
>Also now you realize what Fred's doing with the yabba in the first issue, when he gets the invite to Slate's party
fuuuck, I have to go back and re-read those two now
>>86102952
HELL YEAH
>>86102954
Halo appreciates DAT ASS
>>86102952
KITE MAN!
>>86103058
Is the age gap still wrong if it's Clark?
>>86103094
It's never wrong to appreciate Clark.
>>86103125
oh my gosh, Mom Katana really IS the best thing ever, isn't it. How often do we get this sort of relationship in comics???
>>86103094
Superbutt is for all to enjoy the sight of, Anon.

>>86103183
>>86103221
So what else was good today
I ran a ton of errands and then fell asleep this afternoon
>>86103302
I enjoyed ANAD Avengers, Nadia is on the path to mad science like her father.
>>86103125
>It's never wrong to appreciate Clark.
That reminds me.
>>86100277
>>86103302
Only Paper Girls for me today. It was alright, I hope the story goes somewhere at some point though, lots of setup but not enough payoff yet.
>>86103302
also trying to not go outside because it's a fucking mosquito party
I don't think Zika is here yet, but...
:(
>>86103302
Sheriff of Babylon, Batman, Green Arrow, Nightwing
>>86103302
I liked Nightwing, the first kind of fun issue for me of the run.
>>86103374
That visible eye through the hair is triggering my autism.
>>86103385
I love sassy Supes
>>86103385
>>86103383
I tend to find BKV a frustrating plotter in that area
>>86103302
Nightwing was good though Raptor is carrying most of it.KITE MAN HELL YEAH
And I liked Aquaman
And Cyborg was actually pretty good. We saw some more obscure characters in a short cameo of what's to come presumably.
some beingRed Tornado, what seems to be Engineer, Cyborg Superman, the brain, Amazo
>>86103451
me too
>>86103460
Yeah, I know what you mean. IMO his strongest work is still Pride of Baghdad precisely because it's a shorter, self-contained story.
Middy/Apollo variant: https://twitter.com/DCComics/status/773679792856129536
>>86103383
>>86103460
Yeah I had to stop reading BKV because of that. He has interesting ideas but it feels like he doesn't do much with them, if that makes sense.
>>86103466
I want Cyborg to be good because if they're going to try to Make It Happen, I want it to be worth reading.
>>86103509
>Middy/Apollo variant: https://twitter.com/DCComics/status/773679792856129536
Cute!
I admit I am a little bummed that DC doesn't do the themed variants anymore, I wanted some Halloween variants
Some of the October ones I've seen were kinda Halloweeny but eh
>>86103451
>>86103478
Same here, but only sparingly and when done right. Austen here doesn't get it.
>>86103509
When will Apollo get his gorgeous long locks back? ;_;
>>86103509
>Porter
Ew.
>>86103435
Weird attempt at anime style, or THE FUTUUUUUURE!!!? You decide!
>>86103584
Into the trash you go.
>>86103509
Reminder that Hi-Fi posts on /co/ sometimes.
>>86103518
Superman calling people 'son' is 100% (appropriation) daddy kink, isn't it
>>86103539
The rebirth variants seem to be for one year only so maybe we'll get themed variants again later
>>86103633
>>86103633
It can be!I would appropriate daddy Clark all night
>>86103615
Seriously? I mean, if you like one of the mediocre of 90's leftovers this side of Bagley, that's your own prerrogative, but Jesus man, don't even attempt to school me on good art.
>>86103666
Weak bait, son.
>>86103633
Unlike daddy kink, it's actually kinda hot.
>>86102594
>>86102702Prez and Flintstones keep getting praise because they make the readership feel smarter than they actually are. It's all surface level "social commentary".
>>86103648
KITE MAN!
lol, that's great
>>86103650
I think we all would
this is so cute, "If he lives that long", "Great workout!"
>>86103758
HAPPY ENDING
>>86103790
who the fuck are these people and those names are amazing
>>86103736
How is it bait? It's my honest opinion. Please enlighten me. What makes Porter a good artist in your eyes, I'd love to hear it because I honestly don't see it.
>>86103758
Man, heroes got off easy for attempted murder back in the day.
>>86102364
Hey OP.
KITE MAN. HELL YEAH.
>>86103806
Tobias Whale was apparently Black Lightning's first villain back in 1977.
>>86103862
I'm getting an Egg-Fu vibe off of him
>>86103891
When will egg fu hatch
That's really all I want from this new WW run. Hatch my eggfu Rucka
>>86103831
To be fair, son of a bitch had it coming.
How come the "daddy kink" is okay, but "mommy kink" instantly labels you as a creep? I really don't understand double standards most times.
>>86102634
Thank you, Torpedo Gods, for sinking this ship.
>>86103891
Is this /d/?
>>86103922
>Hatch my eggfu Rucka
That sounds dirty, Anon.
>>86103806
I think Whale was in the Black and Blue arc.
>>86103954
yes
>>86103935
I don't know. There aren't many characters I'd even think about mommykink with, except I guess some Wonder Womans?
>>86103985
This does say sad things about the number of female characters who get to be older and wiser and badass and "would dom you for your own good", that's true.
>>86103935
They are both as fine or as not fine as each other, but I guess it's the old M-dom F-sub stereotype dynamic at work.
>>86103985
Katana is RIGHT THERE.
>>86104019
I dunno if Current Katana would work for that, tho
>>86103935
Anon, here's what you have to realize. There's an increase in daddy kinking in these threads because we're taking the piss out of someone who thinks Daddy kinking ISNT okay.
>>86103958
I'm just bored with his current WW as it is. Maybe they should have gotten his wife to do it, she spun a good supernatural-couple's-dynamic thing for Valiant.
>>86104060
>>86104019
>F-sub
¿
>>86104095
Hey, I'm not advocating or supporting it.
>>86104080
>>86104174
>>86104174
2cute
>>86104185
Oh shit, it's Dr. Moon! He's a creep!
>>86104140
Shit, I misinterpreted the "F" to be "Father", hence my confusion.
>>86104231
He was in Katehunter, right?
>>86104261
Yeah, he died in Katehunter
>>86104239
PRESS F FOR DADDY KINK
>>86103183
>How often do we get this sort of relationship in comics?
Not nearly often enough.
Superhero parents exist mostly to die tragically to create angstier backstories.
>>86104281
you have to fling yourself at him in lingerie, girl
>>86103985
>There aren't many characters I'd even think about mommykink with, except I guess some Wonder Womans?
I've seen some folks express the desire to have Diana as their mom.
Speaking of, this whole Super Sons thing is weird to me. Not because it doesn't have a Wondy character in it. No, it's weird because it made me realize that Diana will probably never have a canon child. And the obvious reasons for that are fucking stupid too.
>>86103935
When I think mommy kink I think of age play/infantilism while daddy kink doesn't automatically go there, don't know if that's how other people think about it too but maybe that's why
>>86104305
Well, before COIE and before Editorial fucked E2 up, there were two Furies...
>>86104351
Continuity has been unkind to Helena Wayne and to Lyta Trevor both.
>>86104335
Same for me too
maybe motherhood kink is a slightly better descriptor for an equivalent to daddy kink? I dunno
>>86104305
That's probably because they play Donna more like a sister than a ward.
>>86103478
Man, all kinds of upright moral behavior in these Outsiders.
>>86103506
The most enjoyable of his Marvel work to me was the Chamber miniseries he did, so it's possible that he really needs a hard and fast end to be writing towards.
Saga was enjoyable at the start, but really started to drag around the time drug-addicted pro wrestling happened.
>>86104305
>No, it's weird because it made me realize that Diana will probably never have a canon child. And the obvious reasons for that are fucking stupid too.
Well, Earth 2 Diana had Lyta at least
I think the main JL members have all had canon main universe kids by this point now except Diana and Hal (J'onn did but not Cyborg, I guess)?
>>86104377
I make that association for male-female mommykink, not really for female-female mommykink. Male infantilism is one of my do not want fetish buttons though.
>>86104376
>>86104426
Uhoh! Bad girls!
>>86104424
>not really for female-female mommykink
I imagine that's uncommon enough nobody's really come up with a specific term for it
>>86104301
>in lingerie
too obscene, he might die
>>86104441
>>86104446
I'm sure there's terminology in the lesbian community but I don't know it
>>86104351
>>86104376
Hell, even Circe's daughter Lyta has been erased. Though in her case, I'm pretty sure nobody at DC remembers her.
>>86104379
>That's probably because they play Donna more like a sister than a ward.
Well, I mean, she is. Being Diana's sister is one of the few consistent things about Donna's past. Apparently whatever force that causes her anomalous properties has latched on to Themyscira, Diana, and the Teen Titans.
>>86103758
Superman being the most optimist person this side of Captain Marvel is the most right thing.
Also, well done dropping the Cosby on that Bad Dean, Batman.
>>86104305
>And the obvious reasons for that are fucking stupid too.
because shes a walking std farm?
>>86103790
>HAPPY ENDING
It is for Halo! She got to look at Superman's butt more.
>>86104505
look at the Fox News stuff--guys like that never just do it once.
>>86104510
Quiet, Uncle Fester.
>>86104446
From an acquaintance, it's definitely a thing. Fetish equality, anon - all kinks for all people.
>>86104535
>>86104510
take a look at your life
take a look at your choices
>>86104535
The fucked up thing is, that guy is probably rich enough that he could just buy an escort. It has to be less of a hassle.
>>86104498
Circe definitely qualifies as a mommy in the daddy sense (WTF am I even saying?). Probably all the goddesses do.
>>86104576
It's not about that for these people.
>>86104080
There were still Milkmen in the 80s?
>>86104568
Is there a word (perhaps a german combination word) for discovering an incarnation of a character you really, really like but only AFTER another incarnation of that character has been well-established?
Because damn, I liked the costume and all but this katana over current katana any day of the week.
>>86104576
>>86104588
Oh yeah, it's not about the experience of the sex that can be gotten by hiring a discreet and skilled professional, it's about power and kinking very very hard on humiliation and control.
>>86104612
probably rural
The best milkman is Milkman Dan.
>>86104231
Wasn't he part of Batman's "team" the first time he fought Ra's?
>>86104568
Well, he's the top writer at Marvel, so...
>>86104643
>>86104649
I am very not up on Batcanon, alas
>>86104576
This is probably a fucked up comparison but it's like shoplifting for these types. Getting off at the fact that you can get away with something wrong rather than specifically a want.
>>86104676
Not so pure now, Brionfag!
>>86104535
>Halo killed a dude to steal the formula for fentanyl
Sure, why not.
>>86104676
once he's changed into mercury you'll all die miserably of organomercury chemical exposure
>>86104510
1) Either Clark or Bruce would be the father, because editorial is retarded and keeps forgetting that she has her own supporting cast. Also, barring Steve be the father, a lot of people seem to forget that adoption is a thing.
2) Due to editorial being retarded about feminism specifically, the idea of motherhood would either be portrayed in extreme negativity(having a kid is weakness, you're just a baby factory now) or extreme positivity(motherhood is awesome and you should have a kid as soon as possible or you're a child hater).
3) The idea of a child Amazon will never be as well explored as it could be because nobody can fucking decide how the Amazons work.
This really makes me hope for a similar mom dynamic with Janet and the new Wasp.
>>86104767
>>86104826
:(
>>86104676
Well, he definitely had some evil doctor that ended up betraying him.
Also, there was a real Matches Malone, and Batman got him killed.
>>86104767
I kinda want someone's villain origin to be running into Rex or Mercury from the Metal Men and going insane from the chemical exposure.
>>86104789
Wonder Woman's got a pipply ass! she's the pipply ass of comics!!
>>86104843

Yes, there were. Considerably less than there had been, but they did still exist in that decade.
>>86104826
Man, I actually feel a little bad for Dr. Moon here. I mean, sure, he's working for some criminal scumbag, but he's possibly the least evil evil doctor I've ever seen in a comics issue. Hell, he had a better bedside manner, than plenty of doctors I've had to deal with, myself.
>>86112480
I wonder if there's a specific medical school you go to to become a supervillain doctor. They could swear a hypocritic oath.
>>86103758
>Batman: I just solved everything legally and effectively.
