Seeing that Imperial Stormtrooper makes me wonder if there are little Star Wars versions of Neo Nazi gangs in the ST era. I think they may have alluded to this in Bloodlines with Imperial flags and whatnot being sold on the black market (not the ones being sold to rich people, but ones sold to normal jack offs for cheap). I would love to see an ST era book or something where someone is walking in the wrong alley of Nar Shaddaa and all of a sudden a bunch of humans in mix-matched ISB/Stormtrooper/TIE pilot armor surround them and ask if they miss Palpatine or something.

Everyone in the GAR was exactly the same. To make a squad of exceptional individuals, you'd have to get mutants.

Stormtroopers on the other hand are diverse individuals from accross the galaxy. To make a unit comparable to the Bad Batch, you'd need to find people who were exceptionally skilled or had characteristics that proved especially useful. They don't have to be mutants for that. Just stand-outs.

See his problem is he went in without a plan. He should have asked us for advice.

The only sensible thing to do would be to bring in the Naare Lego fig, show it to her, and tell her in a deep, serious voice, "This is you." Then tell her "And this is what you're going to be doing later." Lick the Lego figure. Then pop it in your mouth. Swish it around dramatically. Gargle it a bit. Then accidentally swallow it, choke, fall over. Keep one leg in the air. Occasionally twitch it. If in doubt, shit yourself. Only thus will you achieve what the experts call Pity Game.

It's the best he'll ever hope to achieve.

I always understood Chee was living the dream. His job was maintaining the old canon but he could sit back and say, "Whatever, man, it's all canon somewhere. Let's just make it C-Canon. Or F-Canon for Fuck Off You're Harshing My Buzz."

Let it become such a convoluted mess it was impossible to keep straight, allow contradictions to flourish, and then tell people they can just pick and mix whatever they want for themselves.

They can, that's how fiction works

Canon is only useful for creators and even then only ones attempting continuity

>>
>>86113466
I dunno, I find it hilarious
>>
>>86113547
It is, I only pointed out that he does it
>>
>>86113453
I would hardly say it's useless for the fans. People want to know what is considered "true" within the fictional universe. For places like here where we discuss and theorycraft it's useful to know what's considered true for speculative purposes.

It's not like non-canon is useless either. Freemakers seems to be rather popular here and it's largely fun because it's not canon because this allows it the freedom to do off the wall shit like The Palpatine Museum and the Emperor being a gloriously cowardly asshole during the finale. That sound he makes when he leaps out of the AT-AT to leave the crew to their fate is hilarious. Good times.
>>
>>86113575
It's particularly useful this time around since they're making an effort to interconnect their new canon. It's useful to know what happened previously in the universe because you never know how it might influence future stories. For instance Saw showing up in Rogue One. Under old rules where the movies took precedence the movie version would be primary G Canon. The version from TCWs would be T Canon, still important but not as important as anyone in the movies (assume of course these Anthologies are given same canon status as the main trilogies and aren't treated as wacky peripherals like the Ewok flicks). Current version they are absolutely the same man, no doubts need apply. It's neither a loose inspiration or an adaptation.

Oh sure some of it is for marketing purposes, but still useful in its own way. Doesn't mean you can't still enjoy Legends.
>>
>>86113655
>It's particularly useful this time around since they're making an effort to interconnect their new canon

Yes. That falls under "Creators; attempting continuity"
>>
>>86113655
>assume of course these Anthologies are given same canon status as the main trilogies and aren't treated as wacky peripherals like the Ewok flicks

They never were going to be, hell, not even the clone wars movie was considered G canon. The only things that were are the six movies, and any notes or statements about and originating from Lucas. Everything else was below it them. The Ewok movies were part of T canon and technically so would movies like Rogue One and the Han Solo movie.

The tier system was stupid and it's what you get when you cater to the kind of scum that is the general Star Wars fandom

The Empire wouldn't have needed to annex it anymore than they would Ryloth. Mandalore was already a Republic world, Senate seats and everything. They were just one of the worlds that opted for neutrality in the war.

It's better to say they occupied the world, or at least never took their troops off. The Republic allowed autonomy of it's member worlds, including them having their own standing security, and didn't garrison troops. The Empire, obviously, changed that.

Sure the end result is pretty much the same, but the Empire changed the rules for every world. There wasn't anything especially different about Mandalore that I'm aware of.

She's more on the green side of the yellow spectrum, at least. Rather chartreuse. It gives her the impression of a sick member of her species, but I wouldn't rule out that she might be a hybrid. Those eyes certainly aren't normal.

Might just be Sith eyes. Hard to say. The red tends to be hard to spot outside closeups to the face, though Inky's sclera was dark grey as Sentinel. Hell, Anakin's eyes lacked the flaming red lines. Maybe his helmet provides a constant stream of eyedrops.

Rebels is weird with eyes. Pau'an originally had black eyes (you could see some sclera for the actors but that may have been a limit on how big the contact lenses are). Inky had visible pupils even when he wasn't corrupted. Most Inquisitors we've seen have had black sclera but Fifth Brother did not, having no visible Sith corruption in his eyes. Anakin's eyes are different to his Sith corruption in Episode III (and he has his eyebrows back!). Thrawn has visible pupils now.

How much of this is canon altering or just a stylistic choice to make the character's eyes stand out/be more expressive? And does that stylistic choice alter the canon? I don't know. Or is it just that the individual character represents yet another way their species can look? Or hybrids? Or... Yeah, said too much already.

It's not the first time they've changed details about characters when they've put them into animation.

Dave and the crew also mentioned that one of the reasons Thrawn has pupils is so that you would be able to better tell exactly what he's looking at, and where his attention is.

>>86126841
The section provides an explanation: They added it for animation purposes.

It doesn't bug me at all. If you guys want to believe that there's a conflict going on with Vader's eyebrows at different times in the canon, that's your business. If you want to tell me that they gave another reason for it, that's on you. I'm fine with the explanation that's been on the Star Wars site since the episode aired.

Yep. I checked the trivia section for a source before you posted but it was cut off at the first bit about Return of the Jedi and I didn't scroll down. It happens.

But you really seem butt blasted on this issue regardless of how you swear you aren't. Which makes sense given most of the comments one his matter were comedic in nature, Vader regrowing and then losing his eyebrows again, etc, but you're acting like there is some great disturbance in the thread. >>86106448
I think you'll find it's because ISOCOM believes in the superiority of the SCAR-17 blaster system and see the need for a full size battle rifle cartridge, anon.

5.56mm E-11 blasters sacrifice too much long range accuracy and terminal Kw impact for unjustifiable fire volume gain. In fact a 5 man Trooper team equipped with SCAR-17 blasters outperforms a 15 Trooper team 25 kills to 17, 0 casualties to 5 and an average open field engagement range of 1500 meters with urban engagement range being 500 meters, Compare that to the 5.56mm E-11s 250m open field and 100m urban ranges and the SCAR blaster makes even more sense.

The Stormtrooper Corps refuses to see the inferiority of the 5.56mm E-11 but ISOCM has control of it's own supply chain and gear adoption.

Slavery on tatooine, at least of the sort the Skywalkers lived under, seems not too bad compared to what a twi'lek in Jabba's palace would undergo. Another has it for almost 2,500 bucks. We ain't talkin' Yen here either. Or Republic credits. And yet several have it for new at less than a hundred dollars. Some people just make a listing for an ungodly sum like it's Scrooge McDuck's goddamn Lucky Dime on sale.

Yes in ROTS but up until then he remembered everything including when he worked for the negotiator of the Manakron system.

What if the chief negotiator was Padme or someone else working for the Senate she loaned him out to? Did he specify a timeframe?
>>
>>86130570
>Did he specify a timeframe?
No but the reference to him working in the Manakron system at all (even the EU source) was a StarWars.com article and normally when we see new info out of nowhere in those articles it means it's stuff straight from Lucas.
>>
>>86130633
Is this one of those times when the article is no longer valid? The way they deal with canon now as during TCWs only what is in TCWs is canon, so we know the place exists and Threepio's role but that's it. We can't assume it validates a part of the EU unless someone, like Pablo, or some other canon source adds more details.

a time frame was apparently listed in "Star Wars in 100 Scenes" stating that C-3P0 was origingally made some 100 years before the Invasion of Naboo.

I don't know if the book is still canon, it was published in 2014.
>>
>>86130729
Not that I'm declaring anything one way or another, or trying to argue. I'm just erring on the side of caution. At least we know Threepio was loaned out for various missions. He once got stuck with Commander Wolffe, or rather Wolffe got stuck with him and Threepio.

>>
>>86130956
Word of caution, I'm not sure what that is worth. After all the Rebels Visual Guide SHOULD be canon but it states that TIEs have no life support systems. According to Pablo they do and he cites Rebels season 1 premiere.

>>86130904
Does it list when that mission took place? I mean we know Threepio's parts, or at least his processor was salvaged later by Anakin. Not like he could buy brand new or build from scratch. I'm not seeing Manakron listed in 100 Scenes.

If it isn't and it just lists his existing previously he still could have been wiped before Anakin brought him online and the Manakron mission happened later. I suppose, anyway.
>>
>>86131186
He took pieces that were not assembled and put them together. He installed a processor that had been uninstalled. So you could say that he DID "build" him, from a certain point of view.

>Mandalore was already a Republic world, Senate seats and everything.
Are you sure? I agree Mandalore was neutral, but I don't recall there's no indication that they were ever once a member of the Republic.
There's never mention of a senator representing Mandalore at any time. During Season Two, Satine herself travels to Coruscant to discourage the Republic to occupy her sovereign planet. If they were already a Republic world, there would be no deliberation necessary, Sheev would have been able to send the Clones without opposition.

It's not the first time the Republic has sent assistance to a Non-Republic world.

This dude represented Kalevala in the Galactic Senate. Kalevala was not only in the Mandalorian System but was the homeworld of Satine and the Government is New Mandalorian (prior to Maul that is).
>>
>>86132937
>If they were already a Republic world, there would be no deliberation necessary, Sheev would have been able to send the Clones without opposition.
Not necessarily over the objections of the local government, especially if they'd declared neutrality in the war. Recall that the Republic wasn't the Empire. They didn't occupy troops on worlds, or even have an army prior to Emergency Powers. If Naboo taught us anything it's that the Republic government will only go so far in dealing with the affairs of their member worlds, even when that world is begging for assistance.

The Death Watch was considered an internal affair and Satine didn't want Republic interference and especially occupation to endanger the neutrality of her people.

And let me put it this way. If Mandalore is a member of the Republic then their sovereignty can be overridden by the Senate if it's deemed necessary. They'd be beholden to the Senate as a Republic world.

If they aren't affiliated with the Republic then the Republic just deciding to send troops against the wishes of the local government is an invasion. Invading the world leading 2000 neutral systems would not go over well, but if it's a Republic world then the Republic has jurisdiction.
>>
>>86131540
Yeah. Even with TCW unproduced stuff, they've said they're treating it as canon, but that's mostly internally- it leaves them wiggle room to change something when they get around to adapting/releasing it.

So for example if the original script for an episode from season 7 had a character die, they can still decide "wait, no, we want this character alive for future stuff" and then once that episode comes out later as part of a comic, then we'll have the official finalized story.

Basically, though it's in a weird gray area where we can expect it to be canonized but we won't know what's official until it's adapted.

It's sort of like watching a trailer for a game and noticing the big "footage represents game under development" disclaimer.
>>
>>86133781
Depends on what you mean be unreleased. Bad Batch weren't released complete as part of the series, and isn't entirely complete (as opposed to, say, Son of Dathomir is complete even though it's a different format than they'd originally planned) but surely complete enough that the events are canon.

I'd just treat it cautiously, as matters of interest, rather than taking everything as concrete canon. If that makes sense, anyway. Feels like we're almost resurrecting the...what was it that anon used to say? quasi-canon? Dubious canon?
>>
>>86133908

No surprise when Rex mentioned it proving it was, indeed canon. Even with the further details from this years Celebration we don't know exactly what happened. It's at least as stupid as imagining that the budget they set aside to remaster the OT in any way rivaled the effects budget of Jurassic Park. I'm sure George put money into it, George tends to, but surely nowhere near the same levels as went into that T-Rex. Not to mention that there are entirely different technical issues. Adding a CGI T-Rex into a scene designed for it, and with adequate green screen coverage, is quiet a bit easier than trying to insert a digital character into a film from the 70s while accounting for the existing actors, lighting, etc.

I think it started during the leadup to TFA, when /tv/ started obnoxiously trolling this place with a lot of "PREQUELS ARE SHIT LOL" trolling that just brought out the prequel defenders.

You know, when they weren't going all "OMG A NIGGER IN MY STAR WARS I BET YOU COMBLR FAGGOTS LOVE THIS" on us.

The big difference is that the TCW threads didn't have people constantly trying to start OT vs PT arguments. They'd happen now and then and you'd see people defend the PT, but it's become such a common occurrence now that prequels defense is more noticeable purely because of how often the prequels get attacked.

Basically, bait increased.
>>
>>86136546

I don't actually get this. I don't see anyone acting like the Prequels were perfect, even if they are perhaps less inclined to believe they were a raping Star Wars (after all, according to Pablo the split between OT and PT is ~50/50 stateside and the PT is actually more popular than the OT overseas). If we're talking about the reaction to outright trolling like "prequels are PS2 tier graphics!" then I have no problem people calling that out as stupidity, though perhaps I wish they'd stop feeding them (you)s.

The closest I've ever seen to a majority concensus (which isn't the same as saying absolutely everyone agrees) is that the Prequels were visually stunning for their time, the ingredients in the plot are largely fine, but badly proportioned and not always well mixed. That said people tend to like the Prequel Era, which isn't exactly the same as the Prequel Trilogies. They like the settings, the ships, the tech, the droids, the clones, all those luscious alien worlds. Doesn't mean they're bending over backwards for Jar Jar.

One of the reasons the effects dont look as good for the special editions is because the people working on it didnt have the experiece making the miniatures and other practical effects. They didnt have that ground work of kbowing what the stuff should look like when you put it into those spaces.

This is why ILMs composit stuff works well (most of the tine) the people making a lot of the miniatures and costumes also do the computer work. You cant just plop totally new people down to do a scene that they dont jbow anything about (materials wise) and expect sonething good.
