To be fair, it's understandable. This was from the winter years of Kids WB, after Pokemon left and as the block gradually became infected by Canadian crap before it finally died and was replaced by CW4Kids.

Not to mention, unlike other KWB shows from the same era (The Batman, Tom & Jerry Tales, Spectacular Spider-Man), Legion of Super Heroes never got cable reruns.

Second season is solid but I didn't really like the first much outside of handful of episodes. Decent enough overall that I didn't regret watching it, but a third season probably would have elevated it to "pretty good" (although not getting one allowed Tucker to do BATB so it wasn't a bad thing).

This show and The Batman were hit hard with it.

They basically were forbidden to use female characters as much. In The Batman, that meant an all-male, all-white JL and Batgirl showing up even less. In LoSH, that meant Saturn Girl was put in a coma for most of the season and the entire subplot of Alexis Luthor being the true Big Bad being scraped in favor of Brainiac 1.0.

It also meant downplaying Bouncing Boy's leadership, since kids didn't like him that much.

YJ season 1 was decent. Nice storyline with good payoff.

Season 2 is where the problems start.
Principally this is because Greg Weismann, despite being the Lord of Cancelled Projects, somehow thought that this time would be different and plotted out a full 4 season overaching plotline.
So basically, come the end of s1 he knows he's been cancelled and has one more season, so what does he do? He does Season 3 instead.

So after S1. We get the MOTHER of all timeskips, Wondergirl and Batgirl appear out of nowhere, Dick has gone from laughing ninja kid to Nightwing and Tim is now robin with about 3 lines to explain it. Two of the main characters have broken up and Beast Boy is just... there, and Aqualad has just plain up dissappeared.

All of that shit was definitely going to have been episodes for Season 2, instead it's presented to us Fait-Accompli and it's basically a different show with the same animation style.

That said, the episodes we got were good, it's just. Well.
Also they kill of Wally at the end so fuck them.

To be fair to the time skip, The video game was canon and explained what should have been season 2. All of the random characterizations you criticized happened there.

For classic Legion, Great Darkness Saga trade. Follow-up volume is unintuitively entitled "The Curse".

Threeboot Legion is well-collected starting from "Vol 1: Teenage Revolution". It goes very downhill after Waid leaves, though.

Final Crisis: Legion of Three Worlds is fun if you're not afraid of continuity. (Although you don't need to know anything to jump in.) If you like it, Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes wouldn't be a bad pickup.

Legion Lost HC is great but probably not as meaningful if you don't know the characters. Reboot is horrifically undercollected, although there's a Volume 1 coming up in a couple months.

You can find Silver Age Legion in either Archives (if you like pricey OOP hardcovers) or Showcases (if you like black and white).

A lot of the best Legion stuff is uncollected, sadly.

Saw this thread and just watched the first episode on kisscartoon

It seems alright but I don't expect the same quality in writing as Justice League Unlimited, this show is more child friendly from the looks of it.

I guess I'll give the rest a watch sometime but this isn't one of those series that YOU HAVE TO WATCH RIGHT NOW OR ELSE YOU'VE BEEN LIVING UNDER A ROCK YOUR WHOLE ENTIRE LIFE, I'll take my time with an episode or two everyday.
