I was understandably upset at how little they used her, and would've wanted more, but I don't think she really fit. I hear she's featured in the deleted scenes though so I'm about to watch that.

My ideal movie would've involved her more somehow. Most times she's portrayed as weak as shit so irrelevant and a side character, her being turned into a vamp was cool to change that. Weren't her primary powers supposed to be overpowered in a couple runs? How did that turn out I never read it.

Just overdone. I mean there hasn't been a movie where he hasn't turned out to be at the very least part of the problem by the end of the movie. And he's been in EVERY ONE. Mystique two but at least in the first two she was just henchman tier incredibly proficient henchman tier but a henchman none the less. And in the third one she was in less than half of it. But every X-Men movie Magneto winds up being the dick by the end of it. I get it he's a bad guy. And at the end of first class is just the fucking worst.

I liked it a lot. The fina fight was full comic book.

And that's basically par for the course with this movie. All the "fan service" is just so clumsy and forced. It certainly doesn't help that the script is already a mess that doesn't know which direction it wants to go in.

Let me just recount my favourite scene of the movie.
Apocalypse teleports into the X-mansion to abduct Xavier. It's a matter of seconds and he immediately teleports out again.
Havok stands nearby and fires a full-force energy blast to stop them. But Apocalypse already teleports out and so the blast misses and hits the X-jet, which is powered by a cosmic cube now which goes nuclear and kills Havok instantly. Then conveniently Quicksilver walks onto the premises and spider senses that the whole building is about to explode and then he saves everyone so the X-mansion is destroyed so the team has a low point in this movie and Cyclops has something to cry about with Havok being the only casualty.

This. Even when the story isn't about him it somehow becomes about him. Even Days of Future Past found a way to make the story about him despite it being ostensibly about Mystique (which in itself was an awful idea). Then Apocalypse drags it to even stupider levels by having him seemingly learn his lesson only to suffer another tragedy that drives him right back to extremism, then he once again redeems himself and seemingly learns his lesson (after having murdered millions) and all he gets is a "sure you won't join us? okay, later dude" at the end.

I'm not sure what the point of even making him Magneto's son was. Quicksilver struggles to bring it up, ultimately doesn't, and it never ends up having any bearing on either character. It felt like a really lazy attempt to give Quicksilver some depth but it doesn't work.

It would have also tied into his redemption. He lost his family and that's what aroused his latest rageboner, but it turns out he still has family, a son he never knew who wants to know him. But nope, Magneto turns against Apocalypse not because of his son, not because of his friend Charles giving him powerful words of wisdom- but because Mystique made him think about what Charles said again and suddenly he goes "oh wow maybe I'm the bad guy" because somehow Mystique has to be the link here.

There's a few nods and in-jokes you might appreciate more if you watched the originals, but you can watch First Class without much trouble. DOFP may be trickier because it does rely on some stuff from the originals, but I think you're pretty much told everything that matters story-wise. The ending does have more of an impact if you've seen The Last Stand, though.
