I've enjoyed Kate since she first appeared in YA but she sadly hasn't gone anywhere since those days, she's just stuck being Hawkeye. In Children's Crusade, I think, when she meet Clint she said she was looking for her own identity but for now she just had that and it was fine. Fraction's run was kinda cute with the Hawkeye and Hawkeye stuff but that got old pretty quick. Lemire is just trying to copy Fraction and loses (or doesn't understand) all of Kate's character.

This is a problem that Marvel has with a lot of it's heroes. It's just other people using code names from previously established characters. There's hardly any new hero identities just look at 2099. It's nothing but famous characters with new guys under the mask. The identity doesn't work for them because it doesn't mean anything to them.
