so this got a stealthy release on netflix. Has anyone seen it?

I watched half of the first episode and thought it looked kinda... bad. Like the whole thing felt somewhat amateurish

what did you think of it, /co/?
>>
>>86018432
sgreed. Apparently it gets better with episode?
>>
>>86018614

episode what? I can't even find any reviews. It doesn't even have a page on IMDB
>>
>>86018432
It's supposed to get better.

But yeah, the actual animation is not good.
>>
Just say this on Netflix, went with the Supervolcano two parter instead.

Who's producing?
>>
>>86019395
Tad Stones is the showrunner.
>>
>>86019395
It's animated by the extremely talented studio that brought you Norm of the North and the Alpha & Omega sequels.

>>86020693
Fangirls have ruined the whole alpha and omega concept forever.
>>
>>86018910

Around episode five things pick up. It's worth watching the whole thing seeing as it's just one big story. I'll admit to fast forwarding through most of the frog stuff early on just for the villain interactions but it won me over eventually.
>>
>>86018432
The trailer had amazing animation, what the hell happened? Did I just get bait n switched?
>>
>>86023295
You see stuff like with anime a lot too.
>the shows uses a lot of the money on the OP or certain episodes or scenes
>the rest of the show has obvious "we didn't have enough money and are cutting a lot of corners"
>>
>>86023171
There's just too much media out there for me to be swayed by that glowing recommendation
>>
>>86023295
No. What happened is that you're an idiot who couldn't read. The trailer was a years-old promo for the books. They wanted to promote the books so they made an animated promo for them. It had nothing to do with the show at all. Show wasn't even a thing back then.
>>
>>86023295
I don't remember this amazing animation from the trailer
From what I recall, it was decent, but with obvious tells on what they didn't really work on
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBsA30gu7ZI
>>
The good animation was in a trailer for a book done by a studio in the US. The toon boom animation in the Netflix series is done by a studio in Canada.
>>
>>86023295
>>86023777
If I'm right in remembering this trailer was made before the netflix series was a thing.
There was a site outlining a different idea and I think there were books?
>>
>>86018432

Well its probably aimed at children 10 years younger than you so... yeah... amateurish sounds about right.

jfc you people are fucking weird.
>>
>>86018432
This looks terrible but the cast voicing it is pretty stellar.
>>
>>86025316
No reason kids should have to put up with sub-par entertainment because they're kids. It's this kind of thinking that lead to modern YA books like The Maze Runner getting taught in schools.

The animation isn't the best, but it's a cool action show for kids. It's got some potential. Saw 3 episodes of it, and I kinda like it.

I liked it enough, but it wasn't great.

>Kinda boring until episode 4-5
>Story basically concludes in episode 9
>10-13 feel weird, rushed, and like they should've been their own season
>Last episode is rushed and somewhat incoherent
>Villain just dies without the heroes actually doing anything

It really feels like two seasons packed into one. If there initial invasion was all the first season, and the Rainbow Serpent the second, then there wouldn't be such a disjointed feeling. The Rainbow Serpent plotline was nonsensical, probably because there was no room to explore what was actually happening in four episodes. The ending was like, "Lots of people died and everyone's home was destroyed, but there's a new lush place so it's OK. Also villain died." It'd have been better if they'd gone with the cliche gather all the races into army instead of gather all the races and be thirsty.
>>
>>86029904
The animation really improved in episodes 10-13, though.
>>
>>86026084
It's refreshing he didn't suddenly get poison out of nowhere.
>>
>>86026084
Wow, he totally shanked that dude.

Shame about the animation, though. This would've been a lot cooler if it had proper animation like that trailer.
>>
>>86029904
Apparently this was basically an adaptation of most of the author's work. The next season will be something exclusive for the show.
>>
>>86018432
mega?
>>
>>86032070
Someone must be excited to start writing new stuff, but it really feels detrimental to go so fast.
It really does feel like an entire second season of content forced into the end
>>
>>86029904
He wanted each season to be based on a single book, but Netflix wanted a conclusive story. So he merged all of the books into one season.
>>
>>86036351
I wonder if that's because they're getting tired of dramatic season ending cliffhangers, which has been abused to death by Dreamworks.
>>
>>86036484
I think it's honestly more that Netflix didn't have a ton of faith in the property and didn't want to be blamed for ending a show before it finished.

I mean, did they promote this show at all before it premiered?
>>
Interesting series, that sadly lacks on animation. It still has an interesting story, but feels rushed in the last episode. Not sure if that's where the series ends or is a made up conclusion for the show. Wish it would get a second season.

He could die more peacefully if she promises to be careful. He was saying "allright, I can die now". And he did. He died. More than you can say for most cartoons.
>>
>>86028441
Man, it's nice to see such ambition from teams working on kids animated series but man, that animation and directing.

Also if they've got eagles on their side shouldn't they be at a huge advantage?
>>
>>86046853
They're plot device eagles, they only show up that one time to conveniently get them from point A to point B, then are gone.
>>
Any news if there will be a second season or when is coming out?
>>
>>86051343
That will largely depend on how well it does on Netflix. The creator wants it to go on forever, just about, but it's not his call. I suspect it's over.
