Oh boy! Time to shill again
>>Is your work a cartoon or a comic?
Comic script
>>Can you sum up your work in a couple sentences?
It ties up a few loose ends to a few of my favorite comic runs involving Venom and Carnage
>>Who are your main characters? Describe them, both mentally and physically.
Andi/Mania, a teen in possession of a symbiote clone that had been branded by the demon Mephestio. She tries to be a hero after the death of her father, but the corruption nature of her other slowly twists her around inside her own head
>>Who/what's your main antagonist? Does your work have a rouge's gallery of sorts?
Mephestio, I do have a small number of rogue OCs that I wrote into the script's rough draft, they have been changed for the better (and worse) since
>>Outside the MCs and antagonists, what are some other characters from your work?
My personal favorite is Aunt Katt (andi's aunt) who is a great caring woman, behind her is Gabe McKarthy, the eldest of 4 brothers and a major player in the underground crime world in Philly
>>What kind of audiences are you aiming for?
The symbiote characterfags like myself
>>What do you think the biggest problem with your work is? Be honest.
My writing, spelling and grammar are bad, and I tend to lose motivation pretty easily these days.
>>When do you expect to have it done?
In the future...I'm not sure.
>>Do you spend more time writing plots or world building?
Plots, and lines, the world is already built for me, so I need to work on character relations and personalities
>>Which of the other works posted in this thread is your favorite?
Well, I'm the only one so far..

Just gonna repost from one of the previous ones:

>Is your work a cartoon or a comic?
Cartoon, ideally.

>Can you sum up your work in a couple sentences?
A couple of bees work to keep their hive safe from wasps, animals, and a crazed swarm of plant-based crimes against nature. Shenanigans ensue.

>Who are your main characters? Describe them, both mentally and physically.
One of the brigades of guards keeping said hive safe. Consists of Jasper (A relatively young bee who only took the job because his parents wanted him out of the house), Lance (the previous captain of the royal guard and general grouch), Phoebe (A hot-headed archer with a girly streak), and Wilhelm (A strongman with as much brains as brawn).

>Who/what's your main antagonist? Does your work have a rouge's gallery of sorts?
The main villains are the Botanic Horde, a massive swarm of plant-based monsters led by a woman calling herself Venus. She believes that the insects (namely, the bees) have pretty much thrown nature too far out of balance, and that it's time to repay the favor.

Outside that, there's the local wasp gang (who are pretty much the mafia with insects), along with a number of recurring and one-off baddies.
>>
>>85997447
contd.

>Outside the MCs and antagonists, what are some other characters from your work?
There's a fly that just wants some recognition and eventually ends up joining the MCs, a shy spider girl with a knack for painting, an entire ant colony, a showgirl butterfly, and an egg that's too lazy to hatch all the way.

>What kind of audiences are you aiming for?
I could probably aim for around the 11-16 crowd, with some room for adjustment.

>What do you think the biggest problem with your work is? Be honest.
I think some bits might be a bit too derivative so far.

>When do you expect to have it done?
Not anytime soon, that's for sure.

>Do you spend more time writing plots or world building?
Waaaaaay too much on world building. I have a pretty good idea of the overarching story, though.
>>
>Is your work a cartoon or a comic?
Comic
>Can you sum up your work in a couple sentences?
A noir-esque adventure following a private investigator as he tries to solve a homicide and abduction in an underwater luxury resort located in international waters
>Who are your main characters? Describe them, both mentally and physically.
James Rankin, the PI, is a man in his mid 40's who cares for his ill mother. Rankin has a fear of the ocean because of a fishing accident which caused the death of his father, also resulting in his premature growth to adulthood as a single child caring for his mother. He only took the job because it paid well and his mother doesn't seem to be getting any better. Rankin thinks that the fact he accepted the case proves that he is over the death of his father.
>Who's your main antagonist? Does your work have a rouge's gallery of sorts?
A female entertainer, Dorothy Harrison, who enchanted Rankin in his time of weakness is coincidentally now working for the underwater resort. She finds pleasure in taunting Ranking, but also finds some sexual attraction towards him. Her presence causes distress for Rankin and brings out his immaturity that contradicts his believed self-image.
>Outside the MCs and antagonists, what are some other characters from your work?
The manager of the resort, who goes simply by Cooper, is always suspiciously in the right place at the right time, causing Rankin to be weary of any aid coming from Cooper and the main suspect, a rich philanthropist who has a bad reputation for being a drunk.
>What kind of audiences are you aiming for?
Not sure. Kind of writing this for me right now.
>What do you think the biggest problem with your work is? Be honest.
I find it difficult to differentiate my setting from my obvious Bioshock influence.
>Do you spend more time writing plots or world building?
Mostly world building because of reason above.
>Which of the other works posted in this thread is your favorite?
The symbiote one

I read through some of your issue 1. Looked good so far! If I could make a little suggestion, separating the script into pages and restarting the panel count every page might make it a little neater to read. Also something to consider is to maybe direct how the panels are laid out.

>>
>Is your work a cartoon or a comic?

I can't draw and I don't know how to properly format a script so its just written out for now. Ideally I would like it to be a comic.

>Can you sum up your work in a couple sentences?

Supervillain in love with superheroine. Supervillain is point of view character and he and his organization have a IRL organized crime flavor.

>Who are your main characters? Describe them, both mentally and physically.

The protagonist is Lukas Neuman, a college student who moonlights as an up and coming supervillain in the local crime syndicate. Luke is an ambitious young man who lives off the personal philosophy of "If I am strong enough to take it, why shouldn't I?" or at least he tries. He soon comes to learn what those words truly mean. He has no powers of his own, instead relying on a suit that generates energy that can be discharged as force and heat through a staff and gauntlets. His costume is all black and red, with some grey highlights. He is about 6'2'' with kind of a gymnasts build with blond hair and brown eyes.

Pause to bump and gather my thoughts

>don't know how to properly format a script

http://images.darkhorse.com/darkhorse08/company/submissions/ghost_sample_comic_script.pdf

Here's a sample script from Dark Horse's website. Hope this helps!
>>
>>86006664
Cont.

Second protagonist is Jane Durand AKA Dynagirl, a superheroine working with the local branch of a larger peacekeeping and law enforcement organization. She also serves as Lukes crush and then girlfriend (in their civilian identities. He knows, she doesn't) Shes shy and withdrawn in her civilian personality and much more outgoing in her Dynagirl identity. I don't have a solid Idea of her character yet. Definitely something I need to work on.

>Who/what's your main antagonist? Does your work have a rouge's gallery of sorts?

The main source of conflict is the actions of the local crime syndicate that Luke works for, as they take advantage of the superhero organizations messy internal politics to expand their influence. Rogue factors, like unregistered vigilantes and more old-school psychotic villains further complicate matters.

>Is your work a cartoon or a comic?
Neither, but would work as a comic
>Can you sum up your work in a couple sentences?
A girl is gifted abilities in order to defeat and capture the demon world’s most dangerous and evil criminals who have escaped from the prison keeping them and fled to earth
>Who are your main characters? Describe them, both mentally and physically.
Iris is a girl who tried to make the best out of everything. Staying optimistic and fighting through hardships like her constant bullying comes naturally to her. One day walking home, she encounters a woman who claims she runs a prisons in the coldest region of hell and the inmates have banded together to weaken her and escape. Iris initially refuses, pushing the woman to forcefully make her inherit the role of prison warden, giving her the abilities and means to take out the vilest and evilest creatures to exist.
>Who/what's your main antagonist? Does your work have a rouge's gallery of sorts?
The main villains are the denizens of the prison who have escaped, each with their own crime they have committed, light to horrendous. I might think of the real big bad, the one who miraculously managed to unify all of the prisoners, but right now I want to focus on the many other prisoners.
Cont'd
>>
>>86007845
>Outside the MCs and antagonists, what are some other characters from your work?
Iris’ father was a hardworking and loving man who married the love of his wife, who was the world to him. After years of marriage and raising a daughter, now 8, his wife suddenly and tragically dies. He continues raising his daughter alone, but becomes distraught after his daughter begins to resemble his wife more and more during her teens. Unable to fight through the grief he moves away, now only sending money and occasionally talking to her.
>What kind of audiences are you aiming for?
Myself right now
>What do you think the biggest problem with your work is? Be honest.
I tend to write myself into holes often. Also I have trouble connecting moments together, like the filler between a big fight or other thing.
>When do you expect to have it done?
>Do you spend more time writing plots or world building?
Sometime
This story I’m focusing on the plot more than the world because it’s not a fantasy world
>Which of the other works posted in this thread is your favorite?
The comic set in rapture

I always liked the point in an origin story where the hero is finding out about their powers. Iris wakes up thinking her encounter was a dream until she looks at herself in the mirror and sees that her long auburn hair she loved so much as turned snow white. She squeezes out all of her toothpaste in on go with her absurd strength and breaks her sink out of frustration. When she showers she knocks off the handle and squeezes the shower head shut to turn off the water. I loved writing about how she discovers and processes the new found abilities she has.
>>
>cartoon or a comic?
It could work as either. Comic is much more likely. If I never get an artist, I'll probably make it a book.
>sum up your work
A group of teenage friends get abducted by aliens and live out their lives as some of the only humans in a multicultural alien civilization.
>main characters
I'm bad at names, so none of them have any set in stone. I also might gender flip a couple and add more.
>Leader
A charismatic guy who is loyal to his friends. He's a good fighter, but he'd rather talk things over first. Becomes a space cop.
>Rebel
That friend you have who kind of hates themself and does too many drugs and wants to be better but never is. Ends up leading a merc group.
>Nerd
He decides to stay with the Galactic Union's government as a scientific study on humans, after the group gets rescued from their initial abductors. He gets alien internet access in his brain. His scientist captors are humane, but he is not a free man.
>Lil Sis
A little girl during the abduction and gets connected with metaphysical forces that even the Galactic Union don't understand. After a timeskip that goes into what everyone is doing as adults (entering the middle of the story), she strangely hasn't aged.
>>
>>86009487
>main antagonist?
I haven't come up with any main antagonists (something I really need to do), but a few factions.
The Galactic Union, isn't outright bad, but is pretty shitty in a lot of ways. They are on the verge of civil war.
Rebel's merc group.
An extremist group who initially abducted the main characters (the GU ends up liberating them). They hunt the MCs.
>other characters?
"Creature" - brutish creature that shows up after the timeskip as Lil Sis's protector.
"Auntie" - cares for the group after they are liberated and forms the science study on them. Also acts as Nerd's guardian.
"Dragon" - Lizard humanoid that gets some cybernetic augments to make him dragon-like. Member of Rebel's merc group. He's a greedy motherfucker.
"Not!Predator" - member of Rebel's merc group
>Audiences?
Myself for now. Not sure if I want to keep it kid friendly or make it more mature. Probably the latter.
>biggest problem? Be honest.
The only thing I've actually written is a shitload of notes.
>When do you expect to have it done?
No idea.

World building. Bit of a problem.

Deviantart, just filter through the terrible and eventually you'll find someone good. Or you're best bet find a porn artist and ask them for a sketch, but specify that this isn't porn or lewd. This is all assuming you're going to pay for commissions.
>>
>>86009806

I just checked, just search or commission in deviantart and eventually you'll find someone like this guy and his work(pic related). Although it's a little too much, for me at least, 95 dollars is too much for something I can probably draw if I took the time to.

>Is your work a cartoon or a comic?
A cartoon called "The way back home". The orignal title is "On rentre!", which translates roughly as "Let's reenter!"
>Can you sum up your work in a couple sentences?
Two average children, a sister and a brother, are abducted by aliens and taken away to another planet to be locked in a zoo. After escaping from the zoo, they must cross the Milky Way in order to find the way back to Earth.
They don't know where they are, where is Earth, they don't speak the language and have no skills. Adventure, real adventure, is finally back.
>Who are your main characters? Describe them, both mentally and physically.
JULES: A 10y/o boy. Lazy, starts off as a complete wimp
JULIE: A 10y/o girl. Also lazy, starts off as an obese
BUG: A 2meter-high insect alien. He's a poacher and bounty hunter among other things. Speaks with a weird accent
WANG: A chinese Taikonaut. Was also abducted by aliens. Appear later in the series.
>Who/what's your main antagonist? Does your work have a rouge's gallery of sorts?
None for the moment but loads of obstacles and ennemies.
>Outside the MCs and antagonists, what are some other characters from your work?
The Jantot family, an ex-GEIPAN employee, some alien species.
>What kind of audiences are you aiming for?

An example of worldbuilding among many: This is the chant that would be heard in Katsayaman village from episodes 14 to 18

It translates this way:
Silence is watchful over all (x2)
Silence is everywhere, silence leads all
The secret of calm rests in silence
Silence is watchful (x2)
Silence is everywhere, silence leads all
Go upon them, stay upon them
By the greatness of silence, silence is in all
Let us be silent, silence stays in all
Silence is watchful (x2)
All favor on Katsayaman
All favor on Okusteyaman
All favor on Yamanultamnit
All favor on Satseyaman

Can't really write anymore because of Ulnar Tunnel Syndrome but sure, I'll fill this out:

>Is your work a cartoon or a comic?

Ideally I'd want it to be a long-form graphic novel, but I guess it could work as a miniseries. Since I can't draw worth a damn I guess it could be something in the written form like Worm.

>Can you sum up your work in a couple sentences?

A college freshman from the suburbs moves into the big city, where he intends to use his superpowers to fight crime. Under the guidance of the city's current heroes, he establishes himself as a new symbol of hope in a city that desperately needs it.

>Who are your main characters? Describe them, both mentally and physically.

The protagonist is Billy Lanzig, AKA Blue Lightning. He's an expert mechanist/tinkerer, and one day was zapped by a tesla coil he created, giving his body a permanent electrical charge. He uses this charge to power his super suit, which has all sorts of gadgets. He's generally upbeat and idealistic, but also a little naive. When he's not superheroing, he's a STEM student at Harbor City University.

>Who/what's your main antagonist? Does your work have a rouge's gallery of sorts?

It's complicated. The primary villain of the story is drug kingpin Antonio Blanco (actually the supervillain Snakeskin in disguise) but Blue Lightning's ultimate adversary in the story is a similar genius named Killer Bee, who decided to use his intellect for criminal pursuits.

>Outside the MCs and antagonists, what are some other characters from your work?

Oh man, I got a metric fuckton. A colorful, vibrant cast is one of my favorite parts to all of this. Pic very related, heromachine is great for coming up with character concepts. (not all of them will appear in this story though)

>What kind of audiences are you aiming for?

Mostly young people, but anyone who is turned off by how cynical comics have gotten and want a return to the "good old days".

>What do you think the biggest problem with your work is? Be honest.

I can't draw to save my life, and in all honesty, it does feel very generic. There's not a lot to really separate what I'm doing from other cape comics.

>When do you expect to have it done?

I have no clue. I have a sort of rough outline of what I'm working on, but again, because my keyboard tray broke and I put my keyboard directly on my desk, I've gotten Ulnar Tunnel Syndrome and can't really write that well anymore. Plus, what I've written isn't really in the format of a comic book script, so it'll have to be rewritten.

>Do you spend more time writing plots or world building?

At this point I'm doing more with the plot, since I have a plot to write. But I still like to do lots of worldbuilding, and sometimes I'll think of scenes and wonder what kind of plot it takes to lead up to that scene.

>Which of the other works posted in this thread is your favorite?

>>Is your work a cartoon or a comic?
A cartoon.

>>Can you sum up your work in a couple sentences?
An autobiographical movie based on the life of Max Fleischer in the style of a Fleischer cartoon. We follow him from his early beginnings in the silent era to the talkie era to the golden era. In the vein of Roger Rabbit, we also see Max directing the characters on a set, from Betty Boop to Popeye to Superman himself.

>>Who are your main characters? Describe them, both mentally and physically.
Max Fleischer and his brother, Dave. Max is mustachioed and his brother is bespectacled. The challenge is trying to get the both of them at odds and at their lowest.

>>Who/what's your main antagonist? Does your work have a rouge's gallery of sorts?
The main antagonist isn't really one as such. More or less, just rivals, like Disney and Chuck Jones.

>>Outside the MCs and antagonists, what are some other characters from your work?
Well, that's another story for another thread.

>>What kind of audiences are you aiming for?
Animation and film fans.

>>What do you think the biggest problem with your work is? Be honest.
Getting it made, the script is there. But then there's the whole process of directing and animating. Also, I'd have to go through a whole lot of copyright laws.

>>When do you expect to have it done?
Ha ha ha. It won't come out this decade I can guarantee that.

>>Do you spend more time writing plots or world building?
I love writing the plots because they build up on the world as you go along.

This is not a good idea. In order to be taken seriously you must write a full series bible (also called production bible). With details such as characters, episodes format, query letter, a few episodes and synopsises, atmoshpere, sketches, maps, color charts, etc...

>Is your work a cartoon or a comic?
Comic
>Can you sum up your work in a couple sentences?
One in nine people develop superpowers over the course of their life, so the US government has enacted laws limiting supers to one child per household. The main character is a fangirl of celebrity capes who ends up an illegal super and decides to become a vigilante like the heroes she admires. Ideally it will read like a modern comic but with a lot of silver age sensibilities.
>Who are your main characters? Describe them, both mentally and physically.
Liz O'Lauren, the titular Lass of Lightning. 11 or 12 years old. Has an adoptive family with a brother who's a super and was born around the same time as her. Acted as the gadget-toting sidekick to her two childhood friends until one of their time-traveling missions to stop a robbery from the day prior leads to the death of one friend and her developing electricity powers (alternately if I decide that I haven't gone full silver age enough, her origin is that she got her powers by jamming a fork into a power outlet).
She's cheerful, vibrant, and too hyperactive for her own asthmatic good. She doesn't have a real reason for being a vigilante other than hero worship, and that's going to cause her conflict later on when she starts interacting with some other street-level supers who have solid philosophies. Her most prominent trait is being annoyingly optimistic, something necessary with all the dark shit I plan to throw at her.

>Who/what's your main antagonist? Does your work have a rouge's gallery of sorts?
The Final Boss-type figure is the former battery for a potato clock that gained sentience, powers, and human form in the same incident that powered up Liz. Goes by the name Mutato. Creates some underlings from other food objects, but neither he nor they have prominent story roles until near the end. Most antagonists will be various child supers from the local super education institute who have arresting Liz as a mission.
>Outside the MCs and antagonists, what are some other characters from your work?
The most prominent faces of Super Heroism in the world are the international Mediating Union and the America-based Domestic Civilians United. Haven't decided who represents the former, but the latter consists of Resplendent Man, the Ebon Shadow, Water Woman, Kappa Joe, and Blinq.
Liz's brother, Calvin, is an obese shitter and a bully who goes by the Super name of The Calorie. His relationship with Liz is a self-perpetuating cycle of arguments and mean pranks, but he also knows about her powers and supports her in secret by getting her gear from the super institute that she would have no access to. He converts body mass into physical force, giving him superstrength and durability.
Grid Girl is the younger sister of Calvin's best friend and bandmate who idolizes her frequent babysitter, Liz. She gets her illegal powers later on and becomes Lass of Lightning's mission control, serving as a more innocent and selfless contrast to how Liz started. She gets a topdown view of any space she can see, complete with all important objects and individuals in that area clearly marked, like a video game map.

Aedi is the former childhood friend of Liz who survived the bad sortie. He's an on-again off-again antihero who's torn between his need to avenge his friend, whose death he blames on Liz's carelessness, and the fact that he still cares about Liz despite hating her. He can control the way time interacts with his body, while his partner, Bisy, had limited time travel.
>What kind of audiences are you aiming for?
Weebs, lorefags, waifufags, pedophiles, and people who like comfy SoL-heavy stories that gradually become dramatic and develop higher stakes.
>What do you think the biggest problem with your work is? Be honest.
I'm a lazy fuck who finds brainstorming ideas more fulfilling than piecing them together into any sort of coherent narrative. Also, this sort of work requires solid humor to keep people reading, and my comedy writing leaves a lot to be desired.

If you'd like, I can proofread your stuff for grammar and spelling. I'd have done so already, but I want to know that you'll actually see it so that I'm not just wasting my time.

My skill level is pic related(s), but if that's not a problem, I'd be happy to make some character sketches for you.

Eh, it's not like I could do any better. I'd imagine that as far as references for pro artists go it's better than almost anything else in this thread..

When did I ever claim to be not shit at art? I only included them because they're characters designs for the work I'm posting about and so the anon I offered to draw for knows what to expect if they take me up on my offer.

>Is your work a cartoon or a comic?
comic
>Can you sum up your work in a couple sentences?
A horrible self proclaimed artist tries to become a better artist to befriend her horrible friend. Then the world goes to the wastebin after being invaded by robot alien space pirates. Dramedy ensues.
>Who are your main characters? Describe them, both mentally and physically.
A red head optimistic girl who believes in the power of art to help everyone. The weakest character.
A gold haired girl who's got brains and brawn. She needs the red head to keep her from going overboard.
A blue spirit who wants the above two girls to succeed and have a REALLY GOOD STORY
A violet self proclaimed god from the moon who wants to usurp control of the story.
A gold robot who wants to get married, cook meals, and be best bro/husbando
A red robot who nobody cares about except his brother and mother
>Who/what's your main antagonist? Does your work have a rouge's gallery of sorts?
literally doing nothing is the villain
>Outside the MCs and antagonists, what are some other characters from your work?
A dog, a lobster, a gang of highschool dropouts, a flower, a makeup kit, and a pile of garbage
>What kind of audiences are you aiming for?
young adult
>What do you think the biggest problem with your work is? Be honest.
I wrote the story already, but now that I'm making the comic I think I wrote it too long
>When do you expect to have it done?
5-10 years if I work on art everyday
>Do you spend more time writing plots or world building?
I used to just write random events, but it always caused problems. I took a year off to to write the definitive story where nobody dies and make myself happy

How long ago did you begin writing the story? Does the comic format draw any inspiration from Prequel?

I took the writing seriously around last January. I did a second revision this February to fix a couple of plotholes and delete scenes to keep it from being too dark; I want it to be fun and sorta goofy.

I actually took more inspiration from Mother 1 and Earthbound while writing the story. I've never read Prequel before.
