Logically, yes, but the whole ending was filmed like a big Shyamalan twist where JGL sees the alone kid on a train (which he said earlier in the film he did) and then the kid's Mom runs her fingers through his hair (which he said his Mom used to do). It's filmed in a very deliberate way to evoke the idea that he was the kid, but that isn't supported by the film's logic or narrative.
It was just bizarre to me, like the directing was on a different tangent from the story.

We don't know if there were any actual troops there, we don't know if it was all flying jet pack sword fights. What is actually under the "Siege" is what is canon. The Behind the Scenes is not. and the Prelude is stuff that is actually covered in previous episodes, and thus not part of the Siege`.

You didn't watch the Ahsoka panel from Celebration did you? Anakin gives Ahsoka half of the 501st which renames itself and paint's it's armor to match Ahsoka. It's a full-on Republic operation to free Mandalore from Maul and Death Watch, which obviously succeeds since Maul fucks off and the Empire has control of the planet (mentioned in Rebels).

I don't even pay attention to the music in the films.
I've always treated music, CGI, and really any kind of special effects the way I treat public bathroom cleaners. If you're made to think about them, something has gone horribly wrong.

That being said, I'd probably say Duel of Fates is my favorite Star Wars track. The chanting really made it stand out, I guess.

Most of the music for Star Wars video games has been good. TFU, KOTOR and TOR have some really strong themes in them. I've never heard it but I hear people like Shadows of the Empire.

We'll see if Desplat can bring that Star Wars swagger to his work. Hopefully it's mostly orchestral, fits with the movie and lightly touches on the themes of the other movies.

SOTE is kind of unique in that the music wasn't actually composed specifically for the game- or for anything, really. It was a score made for the entire project, since SOTE's whole thing was basically being a bunch of movie tie-ins without an actual movie, so that included a full score. The game just took advantage and used some of it, though a majority portion of the game's music is straight from the movie scores (primarily ESB).

Of course, killing important characters gives you a game over, but still...

I once went around slaughtering every non-essential person on Tatooine like animals. And not just the men, but the women and children... And even the animals!

Unfortunately, that included Shmi, and as we all know, Anakin doesn't really like people who kill his mom. He refused to help me saying, "I won't help a murderer like you!" Talk about irony.

This caused me to be unable to advance and I had to start the level over. Still, you can go most of the game killing whoever you like consequence free. And I don't know any other game that lets you free a bunch of slaves only to immediately slash them to death moments later. It's a masterpiece for that reason alone.

Finally got around to finishing TFA. This is an oldie discussion that tends to cause arguments so I'll just spoiler it

I still don't get the Mary Sue argument. I mean she seems so surprised that the saber came to her, looks between it and Ren several times. She seems pretty freaked out when she takes up her shaky combat stance. It's only when she gets it turned on she Leeroy Jenkins it which goes pretty hilariously bad until he has to gloat and mentions the Force.

Kinda bummed she cuts his lightsaber. I wonder if he'll get a more conventional one for the next film or make another hilariously unstable cross saber. Also I swear to god JJ got in at least one mini-lensflare with her lightsaber. He just cannot help himself.

Also I love how she runs back to Finn and immediately flips him on his horrifically injured back. I'd say he's already way past the point of caring if you soothe his back with freezing snow. And then Chewie just dumps him on his back again on the Falcon. These people are the worst.

The ending still feels like a huge copout.

I can tell you what I dislike the most. The lightsaber clash reflecting in Kylo's and Rey's eyes, and for so long. JJ just can't help playing with light in his films. He holds the effect just to show it off, and it just takes me out of this already awful fight.

It's another example of Abrams's terrible storytelling. He has a character do something flashy to dazzle the audience but doesn't stop to think about what this actually means or what it says about the character. Kylo Ren is capable of doing something mind-blowing and previously unseen in the series, but not only does the rest of the movie depict him as not being very powerful, but the fact that he isn't as powerful as Vader is highlighted as a point of frustration for the character. So Abrams has no idea what he wants to say with that scene beyond "look Kylo did something cool!"

Even ANH avoided doing this. Luke only actually uses his lightsaber in one scene, against a little training remote, and never uses it again after that. On its own that scene seems superfluous, since we see him training to block laser blasts and that skill doesn't come into play at any point in the movie, but the greater lesson of that scene does- Luke learning to act on instinct and feel with the Force rather than relying on sight, and that's what eventually helps him guide the proton torpedo at the end. Kylo showing off his laser-freezing power never pays off in any way and could easily be cut out without losing anything.

Anon it wasn't just the final fight that made her a Mary Sue, its the whole movie. From minute one, she's an expert survivalist and saboteur, a star pilot, capable of besting a Sith lord despite never having held a lightsaber, capable of Force feats like the mind trick despite learning about the force literally hours before, and generally given respect and admiration by the entire cast the moment they meet her.

There's a beautiful arc in A New Hope where Luke is introduced. He's forced to do menial shit and complains about it so the audience doesn't really want to be around him, because R2 and the Empire's perspectives are much more interesting. Then Ben gets introduced and tells us about Luke's destiny and his family gets killed. Ok, so we understand his potential but we still don't really like him as a character. Then Han's introduced and basically insults Luke to his face. We like Han.

Then they all get caught on the Death Star. Luke's still not very capable and Han and Ben have to lead him around like dead weight. At this point he's already been introduced to the force and held a lightsaber, but he can't duel like Ben are shoot as well as Han, and while he's around there's no reason to pilot.

But on the Death Star he starts coming up with plans and thinking on his feet. Not amazing feats of engineering like Rey can do in the Falcon, but simple stuff like disguises and diversions. Turns out, Luke's pretty smart and when he finds out there's a princess being kept on board against her will, he immediately resolves to saver her, even though Han has to be convinced. At this point, we like Luke. We've come around to him the same way the rest of the cast does.

Then Ben dies and we realize that the only connection to the mystical force he talked about is Luke and, even though we like him, he knows literally the same amount about it as we do.

For all star wars' special effects advancements, I've never seen a character's intro be handled as well as Luke's.

Titles don't much matter to my point beyond their implication of experience. Kylo was trained by both Luke and Snoke and capable of killing the rest of Luke's apprentices, before becoming a leader of a group of badasses that we never get to actually see in the movie, but we assume they've done at least a couple things to validate that much black leather.

The point is, imagine if Luke just beat Darth Vader in a lightsaber fight in A New Hope. Like, he just beats him. It doesn't matter what the circumstances are, like if Vader was depowered or something, it would suck. It would seriously impact his ability to appear threatening in later movies and throw the slow build up of Lukes character into a tail spin.

There are some janky moments that you really can't ignore like some of the fist fights. The one that springs to mind for me is Maul's fight with Pre Vizla when they're duking it out with their fists.

However, given how it started and how it ended, it certainly went a long way in improving the technology in the industry. And I can overlook their stylistic choices so long as it's consistent, and as long as they update the models as the technology and techniques improve.

Rebels took some getting used to but it's getting there, despite having a vastly smaller budget.

What's funny about this is that this has had zero impact on the audience or the story. We still have a guy dressed in all black with a fondness for cool helmets and red lightsabers taking orders from a mysterious pasty-white old guy. There might be different ways in how Snoke approaches teaching or something, but that's neither here nor there--the actual specifics of Sith teachings were kind of nebulous in the movies before anyway. It was all about giving in to your baser emotions. Typical Dark Side stuff, and that seems to still be the case with Kylo and Snoke so far.

The squad, alogn with some nearby rebels, quickly surrounded Darth Vader. Vader delivers his lines, fade to black with the sound of blaster shots, the sound of Vader's lightsaber deflecting blaster bolts, and his breathing.

As the credits roll, the sound of blasters gradually reduces until there are none, and all that remains is Vader breathing.

How chilling would that be. It'd also be the ultimate copout, since they didn't directly show any of the Suicide Squad dying they can use them all again in a sequel, if desired.

At the en of season 2, he's about 28/29 chronologically, 56-57 physically. RoTJ takes place like 9 years later. Rex ages twice as fast as the average human. 9 years for him ages him 18 years. He'll physically be around 74-75 by the time of RoTJ. No 70+ year old man is fit for active field duty.

To be fair this could play into the story somehow. They could pull a 'MGS4 Snake' and have Rex fighting against all odds because he feels like if the Rebellion gets destroyed then everything he ever tried to do in his life would be for nothing. I can already imagine a scene where Rex struggles to stand up and join Phoenix Squadron on their trip to Endor but ends up having a little argument with Kanan over whether he should fight in the battle or stay home. Speaking of, imagine if this happened:

Because until the end of the OT, Luke still lived most of his life as a fucking farmboy out in the ass end of the galaxy. I've lived in rural areas for 17 years now and most kids in his position typically don't know shit because they're so far out of the way for anything of large scale significance. Knowing the faces of history, or even current events is something they're not usually familiar with. I'd be fucking surprised if he actually had seen any image of Sheev (fake or not) before joining the Rebellion.

Not based on my past and current experience. Most farmboys don't have internet.
