Yep! I'm still figuring out the story, but more or less while the little cloud girl is exploring she meets the sun boy, and they get in argument over who is better and who the people on earth like more.

It starts to escalate, until something happens that gets their Dad's involved. Then when they do, the laugh it off because the fight is silly and reveal to the kids they are brothers and that the two kids are cousins, and that the people on earth need both of them to function and they have to learn to work together if they ever want to take up their father's mantels.

Then, I've been spit balling more ideas to do with them or how to flesh out the initial idea.

dotted eyes are easy to expand on if you think outside the box
you can do "badger eyes" which are simply white dots on black or colored background
or you can complicate your dotted eyes by adding more simple shapes

and spaghetti limbs can be translated to long and slender limbs

simplicity isnt really that bad
its just doesnt look that amazing sometimes because its very simple

Captain OP uses his abilities of never having to sleep more than 3 hours a day, which is useful for posting threads on /tv/ and /co/ about hom much better DC movies are than Marvel movies. He uses these threads to recruit for his superteam, "The League of Kino". TLoK discusses why Marvel movies are so shitty and dont deserve high Rotten Tomatoes reviews, and it also discusses Batman v Superman and Man of Steel being the best superhero movies of all time.

Certainly some people already have stories and worlds in mind for their characters, and others just draw someone they want to, with the personality they want them to have, and nothing else.

For me, my characters usually started as pointless, no-goal-in-mind drawings first, then I write in their personality and story afterward if I like them. Most of my characters came about incidentally in that way; they were originally one-offs, just meant to play a part and never be seen again, but then I find I really like how they look and I decide to flesh them out.

Often times I just draw a vague idea like "Bear Adventurer" and give them a personality and story afterwards. Very rarely, I will have an already formed idea in mind where I know it needs a "Evil Teacher" or "Naive Girl" or what have you, do some character designs, then see which one sticks with me.

Here, have a shitty mostly-traced concept for my OC.
His name is InfernalMachine, no space. He's pretty insistent on that, because he thinks it's cool.
Basically, he's the result of putting a dude into a blender with a literal demon and highly advanced nanotechnology. He was supposed to be the herald of the god of this transhumanist cult, but he escaped before they could program him to their whims.
He relies on being able to totally rework his physiology in seconds in order to fight crime.
Basically, Iron Man+Generator Rex with amnesia.
He's got no idea who he used to be, but because his default human mode looks vaguely Irish, he generally goes by Pogue.

The main issue I'm having with this guy is that I don't really have much experience designing mechanical stuff, so I'm stumbling a lot over how to even draw him.
Plus, I'm not great at art, as evidenced by my needing to trace over a lame anime in order to have a base idea of what I'm doing. (Bonus points if you can guess what it is.)

Basic idea for the setting was something along the lines of "In the year 20XX, stuff starts happening."
Basically, there used to be this massive world-spanning secret organization dedicated to keeping supernatural threats in line. Over the course of a week, they were systematically butchered and all hell broke loose when a dragon got mind-controlled by unknown parties and set to rampage in New York. Wound up destroying the Empire State Building and racking up a death toll somewhere around 5K before anybody could figure out what to do.
Three-odd generations later, some people backed by the UN are trying to resurrect the old peace-keeping organization. They sign a new treaty called the Accords, named after the treaty the old Arbiters operated under, and set about protecting the world. Basically, supercops.
Before the Arbiters are reestablished, there was a robot uprising, some alien explorers/refugees showed up, the aforementioned cult waged a shadow war against the world's governments, and there was a lot of upheaval involving the supernatural having to adjust to the mundane knowing it's around.
Any questions/ideas/rash political commentary?

If you're having trouble with cyborg-type designs, I'd actually say to look at some of the characters in Overwatch. From robotic limbs to straight-up androids, I imagine there's a lot of inspiration you can draw from that. The story actually gives me an Overwatch vibe, but that's not saying much since it's a very common theme in futuristic stories. Doesn't mean it's bad or unoriginal o' course.

Mostly the stuff about the cult impacts IM. They'd probably be the source of his personal nemesis, etc. Stuff about the robots, less so, but the fantasy stuff pervades the setting. Magic being widespread, it's now commonplace. Not everyone can use it, but it certainly makes the world different.

This is actually a tough question to answer, because the answer is yes. The issue was that an AI emerged as a sort of ghost in the machine and went mad. It took control of police/military robots & etc. In fact, one of the other Arbiters is a police robot that kinda went a little screwy. He's utterly convinced that he's a knight in a fantasy tale and espouses the virtues of chivalry. For the most part, though, the robots have become 'living' things. They've faced difficulty integrating into a society that blames them for a massive death toll that they honestly had no part in.
Think Omnics, and that's about what it's like.

Redrew stuff I thought up as a kid. I don't know what they are (and never did), they could be beings who are in a halfway state between energy and matter. Not fully intangible and weightless, and they'd give a tickling feeling if you touched them. I know this type of shit would be better suited for digital drawings, but whatever, random pencils are all I got.

They don't do a whole lot, just streak across the air a few feet above the ground, befriend or spook people, make electric things act weird, and madly love each other, producing explosions of sparks when they touch (the force and amount of which depends on their emotional state and their general energy).

I'm bad at backstories but I like imagining how some of my OCs might function or what kind of biological functions they have.

Digging these concepts. Don't see many people making lanky-looking robots like these, and I like those big plates protecting their upper body. It gives them an interesting silhouette.
They kind of give me a vague FF9 Black Mage vibe, with the shadowed "faces" and the hats. And them being robots. I like that.

The zippo lighter staff and sawblade joints are neat touches in the second sketch, though I like the overall look of the first one more. Its posture is really interesting.

It's part of her sadism but mostly due to her classism. She believes herself to be "better" than other people but feels like the way to earn it is to better herself. She was born privileged but she thinks only those without ambition coast through life on class alone. She basically values herself above others but still respects her superiors and treats everyone with sophistication. But she will definitely hold rank on anyone who pushes her even a little.

The hero (His name is Savior, originally it was Captain Savior but a couple of days ago I decided to omit the Captain) is one of the side characters to this story who adopts a little girl (Jay Byrd) to be his sidekick and she ends up befriending the villain (Adrian Lorne).

It's a story I've been slowly cracking away at since college and something I use to help me focus. Like, if I ever get lost on what to draw or what to practice, I can think about props for them, landscapes, re-designs, work on my screenwriting with them, etc.

I won't be able to draw anyone else's characters since I'm going back to work this week and then will be away the following weekend, but I hope to do this again sometime! Ended up getting a lot of art done this weekend.

but meet Aya Anno, she's an ambiguously aged little girl and her dad's in the Yakuza, she usually dresses up in bunny pajamas and stuff like that, she's been kidnapped and ransomed a few times hence the scar on her eye, she's usually skittish because she's gotta deal with a lot of things and tries to keep herself calm!
she's got no friends either because they're afraid of her dad and such

Character I've had for a while named Kenna. She's the daughter of a duke who runs a town that is entirely indoors named Cendrillion, whose main trade is smithing. In the world a large portion of the population are magical, usually with singular, precise powers. They are treated like gypsies, and there are murmurs that they will attempt to overthrow the crown. Cendrillion is a town of non-magical humans, and Kenna begins her apprenticeship as a smith as the town slowly changes from producing common items and appliances to weaponry. However, fairly soon, Kenna notices that she is fire-proof, making her magical. She attempts to keep it a secret, all the while continuing her training, and discreetly using her abilities to improve her metalwork.

The original idea, was to make a story out of a war between the Fairy Folk and mountain Imps, with some Cat people as the MCs, lost on the crossfire.

The previous two pictures were the token good members of each race.

The male and female Imp are part of the army and engaged, they have a vitrol relationship but love each other.

The two elf-like characters are the princess of the Fairy Empire, that is spoiled and treat the MCs at first like quirky animals, but has a good hearth on the inside, and a street magician.

Pic related is the old and tired Fairy King, and his kind of stupid, kind of genious goblin captain. The thing about goblins on this setting, is that they live on islands and their a society that work like mole rats, and it is extremelly hard for one of them to left their land.

I may eventually try to make a webcomic out of it. I've built a lot of the world up, but not much in the way of main story, which is something I'm not great at developing. Here's another character from it, a young magic user who took a potion that transfigured them into a bird temporarily, but caused them to mutate into this when they were shot and nearly killed by an arrow.
