Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of it at all. I have to give Williams props for trying but his analysis of Dredd as a character never sits well with me, and his endings tend to fizzle out. Though a lot of it can be that I'm just deathly tired of "villain wants to force the hero to kill against his principles" plots. Gorgeous art, tho'. Also I'm not OP.

It really is. In fact, it's a problem more suited to Batman really. It can be made to work with Dredd, but not when the "innocents" he's blowing up are bent judges who already broke the Law. These aren't democrats or wacky madmen. I'm not saying Dredd should have no qualms about blowing them up, but in my mind it shouldn't be something that destroys him.

The really dumb thing is Gerhart is right there as a symbol of Chaos Day and from that the Sov war. So you have a death toll 1000s and 1000s of times higher and of more innocent people that Dredd sanctioned in the past right there on the page.

I mean I like Gerhart as a character, and I like how he's the Chaos Day guy and his own fucked-up body is kind of a metaphor for how few people survived Chaos Day. But does he actually fit in a story with Dredd fretting over whether or not to kill dangerous Titan prisoners? Especially when Justice Department just went ahead and bombed them anyway!

I really think the titan tpb should have included the single issue where Gerhart gets fucked up.

It sets the scene perfect for Titan. His body is fucked, he gives an ominous "I'm coming for you" threat to Dredd and if anyone is reading it that aren't fans of Dredd they won't be going "who the fucks this dude?" when its revealed hes going along with the mission
