Well it's a thing but it's a thing that causes a sense of uneasiness in the viewer.
Where the brain can't tell whether something looks decidedly not like a real person or a real person.

If you want to creep people out then you can use it for great effect but it's not what most character designs aim for.

Personally I think the edits make them look more generic and dull. They just sort of blend in with the hundreds of random CG characters you see online by random artists. Making them cartoony isn't just to avoid uncanny valley, it's to avoid monotony.

I get the point behind these but also can't help but notice they can't seem to do a different kind of face, so their edits just end up suffering from sameface, too.

Disney girls almost always look better as their originals. The only exceptions are maybe the Big Hero 6 girls. The giant eyes and the supermodel hair really makes them cute / hot. I can agree the problems with the round faces (very prominent in Frozen), but making their faces longer - as an anon said - really makes them bland and forgettable.

Original Pixar / Dreamworks girls are usually far from beautiful in general. Guess it has to do something with distinguishing themselves from the perfect Disney style.

I don't mind some of these, Honey with realistic proportions is A+

My main issue is that the more unique characters, like the chicks from ratatouille and megamind, lose all their appeal and charm and come out more generic looking
