Really wish Batman wasn't the main focus. Too fucking over-exposed and he almost ruined the show with his grim pressence in a campy lighthearted show.
>>
>>85911141
Your education, apparently.
>>
>>85910973
Taking the genre back to it's basics ie. a man dressed as a bat going on adventures, rather than trying to cram too much reality, cheap soap opera.

I hope they make a cartoon adaptation of silver age Superbooks.

Wut, this was probably the most carefree Batman in a long time. He was just stuck in the straight man role.

It is what the silver age has in general over the comics that come after, too.

There's something I've been curious about lately regarding this especially now with the DCEU happening. Are there kids who grew up with this show (and maybe to a lesser extent Injustice) who really like Aquaman because of it? Because it still seems like the public consciousness regarding him is that he's lame because of the Super Friends despite that having been decades ago. Are 18 year olds who watched this when they were ten excited for the new movie? Or do they just follow public opinion that he's still lame no matter what DC does?
>>
>>85913437
I can't speak for the kids that grew up with BatB, but I'm old enough to remember watching Super Friends on Boomerang and I never thought Aquaman was lame.

When swimming, I would try to make water blasts by punching really fast underwater. And even as a kid I realized how badass it would be to call a fucking shark or squid to fight by my side.

I feel comfortable admitting in a thread like this that this was my favorite Joker ever. He had the prankster spirit of Romero's incarnation without just being a goofball, he fought with creative gadgets on par with Batman himself, he had old time class that really makes this incarnation stand out, and Jeff Bennett did a really good job bringing him to life in his own way.

The Owlman two-parter was such a great introduction to his character. By seeing a heroic version of him who bent rather than breaking, you can already appreciate his class and wiles before they're presented in a villainous context. Seeing the actual Joker teaming up with Batman in an openly villainous way was so entertaining to watch.

I'm not a huge fan of anything Batman related at all but the Batwank doesn't feel as out of place in BtatB as it does everywhere else. It's a silver age inspired show that sort of runs on "good always triumphs" tropes while relying on humour and pure entertainment over drama and complicated plots, so it kind of makes sense that the main character would be overpowered and nearly flawless.

True Story: I was working in a Target part time and this little kid came in with his dad and happily ran over to the action figure section and started looking through the show's tie in toys. He must of went through every shelf to find the one he wanted and he was just crushed to find it wasn't there.

I ask him what he was looking for and he told me he really wanted an Aquaman. I told him and his dad to wait a second because we got a truck in the night before and Id go take a look to see if we had one. Well good news is we did and you should have seen the look on his face when he saw that toy. You'd swear he just met the king of Atlantis himself

Bookworm.

Okay /co/, I need you to settle an argument for me. My friend believes the title "The Brave And The Bold" refers to the heroes of the show while I believe "the brave" refers to just the heroes and "the bold" refers to the villains.
>>

I really miss the threads when that episode aired. We weren't quite sure what to think of the show yet but we all knew we really really fucking hated her.

>>

it definitely refers to the heroes.

1. The Joker's ep is called Vile and the Villainous
2. it's like the phrase "the great and good" two descriptors for one group

ipso facto, you owe your friend at least one blowjob

Despite all the praise the show gets for giving more heroes exposure, it more often than not portrays them as incompetent compared to Batman.

See I like the show because it's a great middle ground between campy fun shit and serious business. The two can blend.

You can have the characters fight space squids and vampires but still give them some drama and depth so long as it doesn't overwhelm

we got a lot of moments like the Wayne's death or MM flashing back to the loss of his family and well any given Red Tornado episode

It took the best aspects of the Silver Age and turned it into a show that probably introduced a lot of people to character's they wouldn't have known about otherwise.

Beware was actually good though.

BatB was always going to end where it ended, and at least it ended before it started to get bad.
>>
>>85924846
But it's one of those shows that borrowed from 75 years of stories, it would take a reeeeeeeeal long time to run out of good material.
>>
>Beware was actually good though.

No it fucking wasn't. The plots sucked, the villains where lame and it was wholly unengaging outside the schadenfreude of watching Batman act like a petulant child.

His bullshit got at least two people killed and no one gave a fuck. The writing was abysmal. And Im just gonna say it. The CGI was terrible.
>>
>>85924915
Yet they felt the need to shoehorn Joker in more and more episodes by the third season.

Plus the Batwank was starting to get out of control by that point.

It would've just been heartbreaking to see this show getting bad. It had the perfect ending and everything. I'd rather not jinx it unless they get to make that Crisis on Infinite Earths musical movie.
>>
>>85925054
>Plus the Batwank was starting to get out of control by that point.

That's why one of the last episodes had Batman tied to a rocket and would have been doomed to exploded if not for the timely intervention of the JLI and JSA

You know I agree Batwank is a problem but you seem to have issue with Batman doing anything cool in a Batman show
>>
>>85925190
I meant the episode where the other heroes dressed up as Batman to foil crime, but all of them get taken down by a single rocket from the Joker, with Batman having to save their asses.

Or that episode where it was made up of smaller vignettes where they all gosh over Batman and the first times they meet him.

The previous seasons did a better job balancing that out, that's all.
>>
>>85925560
>I meant the episode where the other heroes dressed up as Batman to foil crime

and spend the entire episode making fun of him for being Broody?

Most cartoons at the time ended at 65 episodes, the syndication limit.

Also, just because they didn't make an episode doesn't meant they intended to make it. Some of them are unused because they couldn't make them work as full-blown episodes.
>>
>>85928472

Syndication limit isn't a concrete cao. If they wanted to go beyond that they easily could have
>>
>season 3 blu-ray never
>>
>>85930099
Really? That's lame, I was hoping to support the show in any way possible, as well as own it in the best quality possible.
>>
>>85929688
But the execs didn't and they're the ones that make that call.

If they reach syndication limit, they have to give raises to cast and crew. Since they want to be cost efficient, they won't do that, particularly on something as costly as action cartoons.

That's why most action cartoons in the 00's reached 65 or less.
>>
>>85911173

In a lot of episodes, the primary focus was on whoever the gueststar was. It was fun to see so many lesser known characters showing up and being used in fun or interesting ways.
