What's up, mah muggas?
We're back to X-Factor, aka The Simonsons Try To Save A Sinking Ship, but first, Bob Layton's last hurrah!

>Y'know, the more you play those ads, the less appealing this idea looks
So yeah, this obviously takes place before Mutant Massacre.
>IN SOVIET RUSSIA MUTANTS HUNT YOU
>Da, we are, err, very trustworthy people! You can tell because we don't, umm, stutter or pick our words carefully!
No shit, Bobby.
>But how could you know, our disguises were foolproof!
Nazis AND Soviets? It's like the perfect mix for some good old fashioned 80's asskicking!
>Lenin's Ghost!
Is that really a thing Soviets said back then, or did Colossus just make it a thing?
Bobby's just mad they killed his newest husbando.
Guess what Anon-x, it looks marvel MIGHT be relaunching a new line of x-books and IvsX, the are teasing something called MU, that has Bunn as writer and other 3 artist, which include Land.
>And if anyone asks, he just showing us his jazz hands
Ah yes, the "wannabe Daredevil" costume, one of Warren's lesser known get-ups.
For crying out loud, he even has a dog collar like in the Affleck movie.
>>85894599
Without the goggles that would be awesome. WITH the goggles, he looks like an epileptic with an overprotective mother,
>>85894536
Yah, I saw that. Land aside, I want to be hopeful, but that may just be me being delusional.
>Wolfgang
>Doppelganger
Ok, that's a little clever.
>*crackle* By the way, why are we doing this *crackle* sound again? *crackle*
>*crackle* Because I say so, now shut up! *crackle*
>In the name of God
I don't think that works on Soviets, Father.
T-this i-issue has more s-s-stuttering than a Marv Wolfman c-comic!
Calling a Soviet mutant "Iron Curtain" seems a bit... off. Unless these are punk, counterculture mutants that is.
>>85895050
Also, Comic Sans is back for some raisin. Yes.
>>85894492
>Jeans first suicide mission
hehehe
>With all those "er"s you almost sound like one of those sketchy Soviets, Bobby! Ha ha
>How... could anyone... be so... inhuman...?
How indeed.
So what's stopping this guy from taking the form of a reality warper and becoming God?
>He's been iced!
You think this is a fucking game, you cheeky cunt
I'm liking Siber, even if he is one goofy looking fella.
What, you ran out of punches from the punch dimension?
Mirror match!
Blah blah blah, this guy sure loved to hear himself talk, huh.
Well, that's one way to deal with a baddie, I guess.
I do admit I wish we got more stories about how different countries react to mutants.
Hey, it's Boom-Boom!
Also, back to Weezie.
>>85895814
thought she blew herself up, nice cover tho
>that last panel
kek
>>85895725
We actually do get those a lot.
Genosha?
Sabra from Israel?
Omega Red from Russia?
That South American country where Cassandra Nova got her Giant Wild Sentinel?
That Sentinel build-up in North Korea (or a fictional proxy there-of)?
And let's never forget Department H in good ol' Canada where the best brainwashed supersoldiers are made (literally)!
>>85896023
Hmm, that is true, I guess I just sort of want to see a "Mutant World Tour", you know?
>>85896093
poor cali
Ha, already deflecting blame. Classic X-Men!
>>85895236
Most of the just look like they're napping in their underwear. If there was ever a place for gore in comics, it would be here.
>A mutant and a great game player? How lucky can ya get?
Errr, I wouldn't call a mutant "lucky", at least not in the Marvel universe.
Not shitty Marvel civilians? That's a first.
>But not the slightest shred of self control!
You're one to talk, Bobby.
>Hi, little girl
So yeah, this is where we find out why Logan sensed Scott and Jean's scent.
>>85896283
People CAN like mutants, so long as it inconveniences the heroes!
>>85896587
Hah, that's one way to see it.
Finally! Jesus, Scott.
Ominous!
Now that's a Walt Simonson page.
Oh yeah, and I guessed we missed another issue, whatevs.
>>85897199
GUESS not guessed. Jesus.
Why on Earth would you keep that picture, Scott? You're a married man, fer chrissakes!
Well now you don't get to keep the change, hmph!
>>85897268
> Scott, why don't I remember this picture?
> Y-yeah that is weird Maddie
shit i missed so much of the thread
Not helping, Jean!
>>85894804
Man this silver age style of writing sure does jar against the writing in Uncanny/New Mutants.
>>85896093
>Silly Caliban you don't look like a person
shit beast
>>85897199
That's a bit of a shame, I was looking forward to seeing MasterMold.
I don't think I've ever seen anything with a really impressive classic sentinel.
These days they're mostly relegated to big motionless background scenery or battlescenes that don't show them as much of a identifiable threat.
>>85897436
He's one to talk. Well, I guess he does look like people now, but give it a few more issues...
>>85897464
If this thread's still around tomorrow I'll run it just for you, anon.
>SHRED!
>RIP!
>BEND!
You really do sound like a crazy person right now, Scott.
>>85896467
And then, they banged.
>DURR GLOWY WINDOW SO ME AM LOOK BECAUSE ME AM INTELLIGENT
Now you're ACTING like a crazy person!
>She does exist! Sometimes I wish she didn't!
Ouch.
>>85897656
Mike tried to warn him
>>85897286
is this gonna end up being some bullshit mr sinister kekaiku
>>85894071
X-Factor just feels like a book made solely for the purpose of shunting the O5 characters into instead of letting them progress as characters.
>>85897719
I'm gonna be fair, whatever they did, those guys were literally toast.
>>85897538
>One of the TWELVE
iirc here's another plot that leads nowhere
>>85897786
man this is kind of a weak storytelling page but that panel of scott yelling is funny enough for me to deal
That's all for today, more X-Factor tomorrow! 'till then!
>>85897945
Excited for Walt drawing Scott vs Master Moldisn't Maddie with the X-Men rn? or have we not got there?
You know, despite Maddie becoming the ex-wife from Hell ... (smirk) ... it's really Scott who was the problem right from the beginning.
Man, this "the twelve" crap is so vague and yet still doesn't fit with the Apocalypse BS!
Why don't they just make a second list of twelve mutants for some other secret plot that would fit with these old clues?
It's not like they'll ruin the Apocalypse story with a retroactive retcon, that ship has sailed.
>>85894274
Ah, this is another one where somebody went in and relettered everything in the scan.
Also, panel 3.
>>85894377
Yeah, I buy it. That guys definitely looks like a Mongolian.
>>85898214
gonna keep a note open about the 12 and who survived M day for the future if you know somehow someone stumbles into it
>>85894599
I think he may have been inspired by his stint in the Champions. Looks a bit like Red Ghost Rider.
>>85897888
Okay, can we all agree that Rightclops is bat-shit cray-cray and always has been?
This is not the first time he's had hallucinations and it won't be the last. The guy goes kooky for CocoaPuffs more often than he yells out "JEEEAAN!".
I mean, all that dialog about how tightly wound he always is was a pretty clear tip-off.
>>85898214
The Twelve got fucked over by Mutant X and Bob Harras being a cunt and refusing to let Alan Davis crossover with Fantastic Four (but forcing a Machine Man crossover as part of the Twelve 'cause fuck you that's why....)
As for the story itself; Louis Simonson actually finally got to do her originally planned Twelve story in X-Factor Forever:
The Twelve were supposed to be 12 mutants that would be seen by the Celestials as proof that mutantkind deserved to live.
The overall goal of the story was that there would be a "Fifth Host" (a "Host" being when the Celestials show up to judge if Earth deserves to live or die) soon and that the Celestials would decide whether or not mutants (a side effect of their tampering which created Deviants and Eternals) needed to be genocided and humanity genocided too if they were too contaminated in terms of humans with the mutant gene potential outnumbering the pure humans with no mutant potential.
Apocalypse would be presented in a somewhat heroic fashion, wanting to gather the Twelve to prove to the Celestials to leave (Ship would have alerted the Celestials, unknowingly, when the ship landed in an upright monolith position after X-Factor #50) and in the end, it would be Nathan Summers who the Celestials would determine as ultimate proof that mutantkind deserved to live.
>>85897973
Maddie joins the X-Men in #221-222. At this point in the chronology, Maddie has resurfaced in San Fran with a flashback sequence showing her as being the red head brought into the ER in #206 and her waking up/ominous Phoenix foreshadowing.
Also, storyteller should have ran the X-Factor annual several posts back since it happens between X-Factor #6 and #7
>>85898039
More alarming; how Marvel repeating shits on everyone around Scott rather than forcing him to pay real, tangible cost for his douchebaggery.
At least Hank Pym owns up to his mistakes and payed the price. Scott Summers on the other hand, NEVER EVER pays a penalty for being a shithead and worse, the universe bends over backwards to make the people he wronged turn evil to justify Scott's lack of punishment or just flat out refuses to have him pay any penalty at all through Cartman level denial that he did anything wrong.
>>85899478
And /co/ still think Bendis is the worst...
That either tells you something about Bendis or something about /co/.
>>85899624
I really can't tell if you're a troll or if these are just really really wrong-headed opinions that I should spend time convincing you to not believe.
I'll tell ya, the reference to Scott being on the same level of a SouthPark character points to you being a troll.
( that is the definitive troll's cartoon )
>>85897786
When I saw the fourth panel, all I could think of was this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyophYBP_w4
>>85897945
Thanks OP
>>85899478
Every new detail I learn about Bob Harras just amazes me that not only is he still in the industry, he's still in a position of great power.
>>85895462
Everyone knows there no sun in Siberia, and the Punch Doors are solar powered.
>>85897583
That's fucking awesome. Nothing like Louise and Walt together on an issue to make it memorable.
>>85900841
Isn't he in charge of DC? No wonder it was shit before Johns got all the power
>>85901795
I don't think it's that, even though he has to solar-power the mutant magic it takes a lot of drain for him to not be able to have optic blasts at all, Sauron once vampire-sucked his powers dry and threw him into a dark pit, as soon as he was in the light again his eyes began to glow right away.
The strain he's talking about is probably from controlling the beams and maintaining their intensity, he IS in a staring contest after all, while controlling the amount of optic blast he's projecting.
Modern Rightclops with his post-Phoenix screwed up optic blasts can still always use them, they aren't ever turned off, but the intensity, force, width of beam, kickback, and even direction are all random.
That's the worst-case scenario when he can't maintain.
>>85896199
So wait, who are the three other girls?
Even if you assume Chance and Ariel, that's still only two.
Any other really good Sentinel artists besides Simonson? Bengus' Sentinel is still tops in my book.
>>85896390
Well, if you accept Jean's mind rapey retcon, he controlled his insatiable desire to eat dick for years and years.
>>85896540
Familicide on the Greys was another one of those modern down points that really stuck it to the X-Men.
>>85896561
>>85902489
Well, he is giving her the classic pimp sweetheart routine...
And he's living with four girls, one of whom (as we can see) is underaged...
And in that recent X-Force he was known to keep a whole harem of girls in a safehouse of his, financed by his crimes...
They might not all be mutant supervillains.
>>85896283
they making some millar tied action poses
>>85902575
And was constantly making awkward and obnoxious jokes and comments.
Hopefully, now that Jean's rearanged the furniture in his brain he can behave more thoughtfully.
Or at the very least maybe they'll stop writing stories about how he's a self-loathing mutant who wants to be a normal human.
I've read through four of those in my time.
>>85902489
Hey, what's the story with Ariel? and did/does she have some kind of connection with Colossus?
They mentioned something about that in 'Second Coming.
Did the Ruskie get man-raped by her?
>>85897442
>Fraud's not my specialty Warren
DOHOHOHO!
>>85897945
In response to that last letter: Do those Russian mutants show up again somewhere, though, really?
>>85902733
Yeah, but the thing is his Fagin gang actually shows up in Fallen Angels, and there are only three girls until Siryn shows up.
>>85896137
Scott: If you're worried, then cal her.
Jean: Oh yeah, well why haven't you calle-
Scott: I've tried. Dozens of times. You bitch.
Man Jean was a bitch back then.
>>85897114
All aboard the Summer's family misery train!
>>85897268
I still find it weird that the Man called Cyclops slept with a woman and got her preggers after DPS.
>>85897327
I'm startin to think Candy was right.
>>85899414
You'd be crazy too if you're stalked by a eldritch fire chicken.
