OOPs update

>back during the war

It’s such a small number! One of the smallest, even!
>>
I like this comic, but what's the reason for the glacial pace of the updates?
>>
>>85887127
The artist, Valsalia, is fairly new to art. He'd only picked up drawing at all about 2 years ago. He's still trying to find a good way of doing things.

You can see him trying different kinds of shading in the updates, and there are more varied Yinglet poses as time goes on.

There are other giveaways too, like his use of 3/4 faces
>>
>>85887180

Nothing is wrong with them, but you can see when an artist is within a comfort zone by their use of them. In all of OOP, I can only think of maybe two instances where we've had a straight-forward shot of a Yinglet.

It's similar to hiding hands - a lot of young artists can't draw hands (they're pretty complex and difficult to look realistic). So they have them tucked in pockets, or behind their back, or out of frame. Feet too.

Valsalia does good hands, which I am glad for. You can also see his improvement from earlier parts of the comic compared to now, which is great. Visible improvement is always good.
>>
>>85887359
>Valsalia does good hands, which I am glad for
The hands magically change size from panel 4 to 5
>>
>>85888404
Yeah but they actually look like hands

He doesn't draw them as undetailed as possible and put it down as "style"
>>
>>85887127
For the last couple months I've been dealing with and wrapping up something that's been taking a huge amount of my time and energy. Sorry about that!

You take a more established artist like Ashley Cope of Unsounded fame. She takes a few months off between each book, draws a SHIT TON, then all she has to do is decide when to upload it. Meanwhile she works on the next book with no pressure.

3/4 views are the hardest faces to draw. Profile is easiest, face on is next and 3/4 is the most challenging because you have to show perspective. It's especially hard with nonhuman faces that have muzzles.

It doesn't fall into the porn trap that transformation usually would fall into. Valsalia is a nice dude and comes to chat to us. The characters and worldbuilding are enjoyable.

I can't say all of /co/ likes it - there are of course people who wouldn't. But it is fairly nice and contained so no one complains.

If I would not have to pass a grand final on next week thrusday to become something what I dont exactly want (sysadmin)...
I would start to add tinfoil to save clay and weight...
Otherwise I look at these vids, and I will kill my self if the "jovi" air hardening clay would not work like the polymer (cookable) clay, see the "adding muscles part"...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aebiteoqqgE&index=1&list=PLA57C91659D2F83E6

Annd I never done anything like this, in magnitude. I may oversized it, no Im sure.
The longest part of the leg is 14cm long, the short part under the haunch are 4cm and the haunch are 6cm.

Currently the hip is at 17cm height, shoulder at 27cm, head top should be 35-36cm ish. while a "real" Yinglet would have its hip at 50cm and headtop at 80cm.

I wonder the scale of what I work in, also note that Vizlet is kinde of a lanky Ying, maybe higher then the avarage.

Other otherwise, I dont even have any feel to grasp into "why I should make it at all", and no, I wont be making this Vizlet figure to post vids on xtube -.- Vizlet is not for plowing!
>>
>>85909468
Dunno about the matriarch, but I think someone wants to turn humans into yinglets to steal their human super-smartypants genes (though Vislet seems to disagree with this assessment of what makes humans better, seeing it as nurture over nature).

When compared to fantasy settings, humans are basically elves. Established society and high arts long before everyone else, lives longer, has a few reasons they can reasonably look down on the younger species, etc etc

I wanted to reverse the trope of "if there are nonhuman species in a fantasy/scifi setting, they're obviously so clearly superior to us filthy quarreling humans."

Dark Elves aren't brown, they're literally black and gray. Brown Elves exist among the other Elf types, usually protrated as Wood a lot though.

In D&D terms, there was two Elf gods. Corellion Larethian and Lolth. They made lots of babby, and the family created "mortal" Elves.

Then mom and dad started to fight and the kids and mortals took sides. When Lolth tried to stab CL, he banished them to the Underdark (which is the hollow spaces in the planet, full of the nastiest of nasties like Dark Souls) and made their skin pitch black and burn in the light with red eyes that are blind in the day.

One good daughter wanted to give Dark Elves an out. Eilistraee, pic related with CL, was their hippy daughter who liked to walk around naked and dance/drink/sing with the mortals while everyone else was being aloof Greek gods. Eilistraee took a voluntary branding and banishment and encouraged Dark Elves with non-evil alignments to not be Drizzt clones, and be nocturnal hippies on the surface instead.

Lolth turned into a giant spider for...reasons I guess, and made the Dark Elves insane. They have like ten babies gestate during pregnancy, but only give birth to one because they all kill each other in a womb war that gives the mother massive orgasms (this is canon). Dark Elves organize into political houses and backstab the shit out of each other in fantastic ways. Dark Elves who displease Lolth are turned into spidertaurs. Females rule, men exist as cannon fodder or pleasure slaves depending on attractiveness. Everything is spider themed, and they ride giant sliders and turn people into spiders and keep spiders in their orifices as secret assassins and shit. They only aren't extinct because the plot says so.

So yeah. No human analog to that.

Elfquest is shapeshifting psychic aliens from the future who might just be super advanced humans that wanted to meet with middle ages humans so they made their ship look like a castle and made themselves up like ethereal lords and ladies, but their pets/slaves fucked with spaceship controls and sent them back to prehistory instead. Cavemen slaughtered most, the rest became Fey and had kids with animals and shit and influenced human development.

>>85915338
The Legion operates like this: Dreadlords are born of raw evil magic. They are in charge of lesser beings made of raw evil magic, like Imps, Pitlirds, and Succubi.

Dreadlords and Demons fought against the Titans/Naaru and Old Gods (so evil/fel, order/light, and "void" which shares traits of both) for control of reality until they corrupted the leader of the Titan warriors. Then the Dreadlords corrupted 2/3 of the most advanced non-Titan species in the universe as the subordinates to their pet Lucifer-like Titan.

They then took a backseat and waited, taking advantage of the Titans wiping out or imprisoning Old Gods to corrupt everything as soon as they left to bring order to more worlds.

Sargeras dead? Eredar are in charge. Eredar are dead? Dreadlords have to rule directly, which they dislike so as soon as they can meddle in the timeline and bring back their puppet figureheads they do.

What I'm trying to say is that a Yinglet ruling the Legion would work, because Dreadlords just need a spokesman who won't fuck things up too badly while they do the real work.
>>
>>85916476
Smecking is for females to not deal damage to each other.

Males can fight, but only because they are instinctually cannon fodder.

But prolonged fights are uncommon because fights only last until one backs down, and they are a cowardly lot. Unless a female screeches which sends them into a rage.

Goddamn, that fight is still fresh in my mind after trying to beat Zeromus so many times back in 1991. The music's already playing in my head now.

I don't think any FF end boss ever approached that level of monstrous difficulty; everything, from his design, to the background, the music, and the nature of his attacks screamed "this is impossible, this thing is horrifying, you are surely doomed."

And that was on the easy US version.

Come to think of it, FF4 had a bunch of weakening status effects like shrink, pig, frog, etc. and there's already challenge runs based on those, so a 100% yinglet party is only really a step away.

At heart, it's a thematic element that's been used in storytelling since the dawn of civilization, and that's the level I'm generally trying to keep the main story at, in order to keep it an entertaining story first and foremost.

Naturally, anyone that's into the theme of transformation as either a thematic element or a straight-up fetish will get more out of that aspect, but I intend to keep Kass' story about the more practical/personal difficulties of his weird little situation.

There will almost definitely be some fetishy stuff at some point; but I intend to keep it separate from the main comic, so that it's there for people who want it, but won't freak out the readers who aren't there for that.

>>85945866
Honestly, I've heard some discussions about this one before and I think it could actually work.

Your character can only equip the lightest armor, which will not actually keep you getting killed in a single hit by pretty much anything (so it's realy just for appearance), and you have some enormous endurance/strength/intelligence/wisdom limits, and any attempt to cast magic has a chance to backfire horribly.

On the other hand, you run around like a crazed chicken at about 3x normal speed, roll is replaced by a quick, frenzied hop, and your hitbox is 1/3rd its normal size.

Furthermore, the player is immune to toxic/disease and can coat their weapons with their own, and can do almost-decent damage with spears and other light weapons, but only when thrusting.

The DS games are mostly about avoiding getting hit at all because if you do then you're probably dead anyway, so this could actually work.

Also there is a chance that when you light a bonfire you will catch fire.
>>
>>85947035
>player is immune to toxic/disease
You know that's always annoyed me about Yinglets, I mean sure it's pretty common to find things that are immune to the poisons in things they eat/live in but to be immune to ALL poisons that's just ridiculous.
>>
>>85947035
>hitbox is 1/3rd the normal size
this would be an ENORMOUS advantage against a lot of otherwise tough enemies, like Silver Knights or Titanite Demons.

having an improved dodge over the traditional retard roll would also be really good.

I can imagine them all being filthy Leo Ring users inhabiting Blighttown, sniping people with toxic darts from a mile away.

actually, Blighttown would probably be the perfect place for them. with all the trash and toxicity. some may even enter the service of The Fair Lady, collecting Humanity and shit.

man, now I kinda wanna see a crossover with this.

Yeah, they have a much higher tolerance level, but aren't completely immune, so it would probably be more of heightened resistance sorta thing.

And even the hardiest creatures have a few diseases that can get through, oftentimes specializing in said creature. Their biology is a bit crazy, but they're not exactly magical superbeings.

It's much better if you read the acompaying story:

Capt. Barnabas Kinsley

1st Regiment of Foot (Yinglets, experimental)

Field report, June 18, 1815

SIR DUKE OF WELLINGTON,

It is with great distress that I pen this report, as the sounds of battle echoing over yonder mountains leads me to believe that the battle at Waterloo is underway, and my unit may be too far away to participate (and furthermore, entirely unfit to the task).

At the very least, I may say with absolute certainty that the human-led yinglet unit experiment has produced a clear result; that of utter failure.

Though earlier experiments with yinglet-captained units had produced complications re: following direct orders (as the yinglet captains showed a tendency to “interpret” orders in their own ways), the yinglet infrantry at least fell in line with their yinglet-captain’s orders.

It seems that without one of their own leading them, they have lost all pretense of cooperative action. They bicker, wander, fight and play only moments after being given orders otherwise. Some claim to be attempting to cooperate, but I am now hesitant to accept anything they speak as truth.
>Cont.
>>
>>85952884
>Cont

My unit has suffered an appalling 7% fatality rate upon our short march, resulting entirely from self-inflicted/accidental injuries. The use of bayonets was forbidden after the first day, following glastly incidents of catastrophic mishandling. Shortly after, all musket balls and black powder were confiscated until arrival at battle. Yet somehow, the injuries continue. Only the Good Lord knows how, and He has not seen fit to share it with me.

Morale is low, and desertion is an ever-looming menace. I have suffered many indignities (often painful) in vain attempts to hold my unit together. In doing so, I have assumed unexpected duties, which are more fitting for a nanny of a rowdy orphanage (a woman’s profession which I now respect immensely).
They disturb my sleep, require constant attention, and I firmly believe one of them has b een eating our supply of black powder for at least a week. My musket became jammed during a test fire this morning, and when ordered to see it safely unloaded, my armorer chose to place the (loaded) weapon in his mouth and suck out the contents. He has been attempting this for nearly an hour, and I suspect he is now simply enjoying the taste. Perhaps I have located our powder-eater, but it matters naught at this point.

I firmly conclude that if we are to integrate yinglet infantry into His Majesty’s armies, they must be led by one of their own. From observation, I would highly recommend against integrating them into an artillery division, for the resulting destruction to our great nation would be without limit.

I hope the battle runs in our favor, with or without the assistance of my disgraceful unit.

God save The King, and God save me

A week ago I had a terrible realization somehow, that the tail length (1:1 body/tail) is too short and I fck up my own design by it, specially that I want to develop the "spear tail" fighting stance, since that is the part of any kind of Yinglet what has the most usable muscles on for that propose...

Shit thing is that it needs a longer tail then the body length. Vizlet is ok, she has like 2-2,5 times longer tail then her body length. Then I saw my Qu'linda with 1:1 ratio tail and wanted to head desk...

Working on that fking sculpt made me realize more design error on my half then this whole 1y+ since I first met OoP -.-

85956188 straight up claimed Val says there is no magic.

I get that magic isn't considered a thing in this world, but then neither is transforming into a opposite sex and also a ratbird. Just because none of the characters think magic exists doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

It just means they're all a bunch of filthy normies.

I imagine those few who has the resources, opportunity and time to learn would insist on proper spelling and grammar of the source language as a matter of pride and being taken seriously.

Although chronicling their own inner affairs they would be more likely to use more internalised vernacular, as those zzzs and other general silliness grow into slang and regular language inside their communities.

What kind of music would the different races like?

I think the Baxxids and Indrel would like classical and orchestral music, since as insects they'd have an appreciation for orderly, coordinated sequences.

Is Isher an accurate representation of her race in terms of temperament? If so, I think they'd like poppy, happy, 4-chord radio trash.

Yinglets would like Darude Sandstorm.
No other songs, just Darude Sandstorm.

>Originally and officially, the blue-leafed reed-stem is for use by an enclave’s females to indicate that they re approachable for certain reasons, but it has since become fashionable for males to use the reed’s color or the reed itself in personal decoration, as well. Because of this, the reed’s distinct light blue color has become the yinglets’ general cultural indicator of “come get some.”

I don't think Chakki got his position because of "respect," honestly. I think it's more likely that the other patriarchs just like having him around, so they made up a role for him.

I bet Vizlet's secretly pissed off that he's on the council.

Please, he's only qualified to suck dick (or whatever Yings do) and he knows it.
Vizlet most likely has him firmly under her thumb.

Moreover, she probably has one of her girls reading up on actual agriculture to replace him when her keikaku gets going. Once that happens, Chakki becomes Patriarch of 'Entertainment'
