Which generation grew up in a better time for cartoons?
>>
Both generations are self serving assholes who will think they had better cartoons growing up out of some weird combination of nostalgia and wanting to be superior.
>>
>>85874790
Sound like Baby Boomers.
>>
>>85874803
>85874803
It happens with every single generation describing the one that succeeds it. The only thing that changes is the outlet it's expressed on.
>>

>Gen Z
>Gen Zed
>>
>>85874790

But early Gen Z arguably grew up in a dry patch.

Millennials grew up with Ren & Stimpy and Rocko's Modern Life

Later Gen Z grew up with Gravity Falls and Regular Show.

But early Gen Z grew up with utter shit like Squirrel Boy and Out of Jimmy's Head.
>>
>>85874790
18 Year old here. You're right. It's Always "us" Vs "them" even in how we experienced our goddamn childhoods
>>
>>85874987
Gen z also had spongebob, fosters, samurai jack, etc
>>
>>85874980
Yes, anon. Are you just getting that now?
>>
>>85875032
No, late millennials did.
>>
>>85874725
>Millennials
>15 years
>Gen Z
>6 years
Nice chart. The age range isn't generally agreed upon but the originator of the term Millennials puts it at 1980-2000 and Gen Z is 2000-present. Generations are mostly for marketing use, they're not really a scientific thing. Both grew up with good cartoons and bad cartoons.
>>
>>85874980

Generation Zed is way cooler than Generation Ooze.
>>
>>85875063
I watched those shows when it came out. I know what I experienced anon. Foster's and samurai jack aren't 90s shows by definition.
>>
>>85874996
It happens with every generation. Notice Millennials are supposed to be lazy, entitled, and are associated with mostly negative traits and are supposed to have ruined the country while Generation Z is associated with positive traits. Every upcoming generation is called the worst thing ever. Generation Z will see that stuff in a few years.
>>
>>85875188
It's not about "90s shows". Millennials also grew up with cartoons from the 80s. Late Millennials and early Generation Z would both have seen those shows.

Everyone seems to have a different definition of what a Millennial is.
If I had to fill in the blank I would have labeled 19-34 as Gen Y and 12-18 as Millennial
I've read newspaper articles saying that Millennials start at 1979, which is stupid.
Theres no way I count some dude pushing 40 in the same group as someone who just graduated high school.

Thats silly
I never even heard the term Millennial until maybe 4 years ago.
Now its fucking everywhere.
"What Millennials want in a job. Millennials have more debt than ever. Millennials are skipping the usual vacation spots."
Thank god the media is here to define and divide our society.
This stuff all blends together really.
My musical taste, financial goals, interpersonal skills, and self image are all influenced by a variety of sources and change over time.
You can poll people to come up with some kind of average, but that will never represent an individual.
>>
>>85878920
>Everyone seems to have a different definition
I'd say those change geographically too.
For example, the post soviet countries would experience the same ""millennial"" crap later, due to the iron curtain, innit.
>>
>>85875190
>and are associated with mostly negative traits and are supposed to have ruined the country
How the fuck are they supposed to have done that when everyone in charge is from even earlier generations or even refuses to retire to make room in starter occupations in the work force?
>>
>>85879305
>What Millennials want in a job.
Any that's not filled by someone 65 and pulling in both a paycheck and retirement and social security.

>Millennials have more debt than ever
I feel bad for everyone that went to college in the past decade+ rather than immediately seeking the workforce. Not only is college exponentially more expensive than ever (that's when you adjust for inflation too), the chance of getting a job once you get out was lower thanks to general economic decline.

>Millennials are skipping the usual vacation spots
I'd love to fucking know who asked this. Vacation spots are called "home not spending money you don't have'.

Is this selfishness crap because the economy doesn't see millennials as spenders since they have no money? So how dare they not give their money to us, big buisness?

>>
>>85880844
Old guy is right though. Parents are too coddling because they're scared of anything happening to their kids in the actual, physical world outside such as injury/assault/rape so they don't let them go out and do normal kid stuff with other kids unsupervised, but nor do they make any effort to shape a positive mental attitude in them or provide them moral guidance thanks to ultra liberalism's moral relativist position.

Basically we're producing mentally disturbed neets who can't function in the real world. 4chan and tumblr are very good examples of this.
>>
>>85879409
It's older people romanticizing the past and thinking this country's getting ruined. It's been like that for all of human history. Millennials have only even been able to take office a short while, the youngest of them can't even vote yet. It's meaningless.
>>
>>85880980
The irony here is, 4chan and tumblr are two sides of the same coin, with reddit being the edge
>>
>>85881048
tumblr is the distaff version of 4chan/reddit. They really are part of the same coin. They're just on the opposite sides of the spectrum.
>>
>>85874725
This info graph is fuckin stupid
Millenials aren't that old
Don't lump us in with them
It doesn't make sense that one group would cover such a larger span of time
>>
>>85881048
Generally speaking, yeah. I don't think that's particularly ironic though. You've got a lot of reasonable people who don't really give a shit on both sites, just the extreme crazies are extreme and crazy in opposite directions. That's not really much different to politics in the real word.
>>
>>85881078
Generations generally cover 15-20 years
Baby boomers are 1946-1964
Gen X is 1964-1980

>>
>>85881201
I feel like that's going to cool when they enter the actual workforce. It's easy to be hotly devoted to that shit when you're stuck as a waiter because you can't get a job and your piled under college debt, because the world seems really unfair. Once the boomers are forced out (if a slight recession hits they're first to go, I've been seeing a lot of forced retirements lately) then rapid maturation should take place.
>>
>>85881201
28yo here. I wouldn't want to be associated with anyone under the age of about 25, since they're all embarrassing SJW trash.

Maybe we need two new generations. I don't feel like people born between 1980-1990 have much in common with those born between 1990-2000 at all.

>>
>>85881398
No, the media does that and stirs up controversy because sensationalism sells.

Bad things do happen and always have, but the likelihood of them happening is incredibly slim. The way some people coddle their kids is akin to never allowing them to get in a motor vehicle because an accident might happen. And car accidents are a fuck of a lot more likely than child abduction.
>>
>>85881431
>No, the media does that
Bro it's easy to blame the media but in reality society can be cruel to victims of tragedy. Even if you never hear it the rumors and gossip will lower your standing and there would be nothing you can do about it.

Realistically speaking, we can't fully judge other people's childhoods in comparison to our own because it's impossible to experience multiple people's childhoods from different eras. Millennials got drugged to hell and back and all older generations were just bad kids. These kids have a shot because enough parents have gone through early 20s to mid 30s breakdowns to be like "hey maybe if we don't fuck up their childhood they won't turn out shitty." Mind you there's still so many shit kids. People will always be awful.

>Gen Z...being self aware and self reliant?

Hahahahaha

Look millenials are soft handed faggots compared to the generations before thrm that fought world wars and lived through the cold war, and I'm one of them being an 80's kid, but I spent the first half of my life not heving a cell phone and computer and worked outside as a carpenter and plumber and even dabbled in masonry. I know how to wire up a house snd repair a car.

I spent time hunting and fishing during my summers and to this day maintain a sizable food garden.

I didn't experience the internet until 1999 and didn't have a cell phone and computer untill I was 16.

Gen Z dose not how to survive without hand held devices.

They rely on GPS systems religiously and have no Idea how to read a map and pathfind their way out of a park, let alone in the woods.

If a solar flare event occurs, Gen Z is fucked and millions of weak gene people like diabetics and people with multiple allergies will die off in the first few weeks without meds kept in cold storage.

You could probably find a guy like that with a different grooming habits and similar relationship dynamics in earlier generations.

And before you get on my back about it I'm not saying he's right or wrong or anything.
>>
>>85883758

>>
>>85883616
Actually you probably do have skills, or the potential for them, you just don't realize it. Like, the fact that you might be chill, and non-judgmental with people, that might be a deal sealing quality with some employers, assuming you can do the job. And there are jobs that are pretty easy that also have the requirement of "don't be a douche" to clients.
>>

1997 here. I'm quite interested in the patterns generations make and what traits people had for each one. In my experience I could only recollect faint memories of the early 2000's.

It was until the mid to late 2000's that I could remember certain things. That time was also considered shit from what I heard. But at least the 10's are treating me well. I kinda feel nostalgic for the 2000's as a whole now. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

There was a big cartoon boom in the late 90s/early 00s, and another more recently, but things were really dry in the mid to late 00s. Late millenials and early gen Z got the short end of the stick, but early millenials have some great stuff to be nostalgic about, as will the younger Gen Z kids when they're older.

I am (usually) but got fired from being a cashier months ago for being too quiet, having a nervous energy in general. I mean I'm pretty sure I do the tasks required but something about me, my personality, that makes employers not want anything to do with me. I've never stuck with a job longer than 5 months. Might be slight autism that slipped through the system's cracks.

this are objectively millennial shows not only 90s shows are millennial shows

Just measure the times frames in relation to animation quality, plentiful genre variety, and medium success, you passive geeks.

>What is Korea, Vietnam, Bosnia, Afganistan ( for the Russians) 7 days war, Falklands (British), Somalia

Fude, I can list off more stuff including south American Adventures Sponsored by good ole Ronnie Reagan and his war on drugs, or how we lost two navy ships, one to Isreal and one to North Korea but powers at be did't seek vengence because tgey thought they would spark the big one.

Everyone lived under the threat that one of these bush boarder foghts and police actions could lead to more shit, both on the West's side and Russia's. Even after the collapse of the soviet union there was always wars.

It dosen't matter if you bought the farm in a big publisised war with the news media jacking off over it or a small skermish nobody knows about, if you bought tge farm you bought the farm.

I have had plenty of friends and family die in wars in the past century and I lost a leg and and eye.

Milennials
>emo scene shit
>XD
>constant mass shootings and shooting up schools to take place of serial killings that the baby boomers had
>idiots who got duped by 9/11
>a thousand mental illnesses and violence problems
>were all drugged as kids
>wandering through adulthood confused, either angry and bitter or oversensitive and sheltered
>poor as fuck and late-starters
>tail end getting the opiate epidemic
>inferiority complex to both baby boomers and gen z
>unmotivated losers

Gen Z
>ze/zir/zim
>young tumblr/fb/twitter culture today...please think deeply about this
>also hit hard by drug addiction
>weak and over sensitive
>obsessed with how unfair the world is
>saturated in media and tech
>commodified identity and label obsession
>persecution complex (no one from any race or economic background escapes this in some way)
>obsessed with avoiding mistakes and going for perfection leads to strange culture of being obsessed with demonizing mistakes
>hiding the sociopathy they have that every gen has behind convenient rhetoric
>more obsessed with image

Everything you just said about Z describes millenial hipsters
>>
>>85885476
Late Millenial hipsters started the trend and Gen Z has perfected it.
>>
>>85874725
Both "generations" are literally the same generation. Generations are 20+ years whether you like it or not. You don't seen Generation X fags born in the mid 60s complaining about being in the same generation as the ones born in the mid 70s.
>>
>>85882411
I was born in early 1997, so right about now.

>implying the early to mid 2000s weren't decent
>>
>>85883211
I've heard that if you were young by the time 9/11 rolled around, you're a Millennial. This would make sense, but only one problem: this includes people born in the mid-late 70s.
>>
So does Millenial at this point just mean "was under 35 before 2010"?
>>
>>85874790
.t Millennial
>>
>>85885750
It means born after 1980 and born before 2000.
>>
>>85885373
You're a late generation Y/Millennial and you'll love it, you faggot.
>>
>>85874725
Huh, didn't realize I was gen Z. Anyway, this picture is retarded because every generation of people is filled with shitlords, and every generation shit-talks the generations succeeding them. People don't change, and everybody has nostalgia. This makes me think of that one site with the "ancient shitposting"
>>
>>85874725
Gee, whoever made this image must've been looking for attention or pretty biased.

I'm leaning on the former.

Also:
>Gen Z
Pretty accurate, it probably will be the last generation.
>>
mid 90s to mid 2000s was the renaissance and peak of animation.

late 2000s was a dead zone, but it picked up in 2010

Will we start using chinese pictograph brush strokes?

>If I had to fill in the blank I would have labeled 19-34 as Gen Y and 12-18 as Millennial
Gen Y and Millenials are the same exact thing, anon. "Millenial" is the name given to Gen Y. They are not not, nor have they ever been, anything different.
>>
>>85887162
I preferred Gen Y, don't know why it changed to millennial. I always thought Generation X sounded so cool and that was taken away from us.
>>
Great comics and cartoons discussion guys. What is it about arbitrary delineations that pit people against each other based on a few years time that whips morons into a frenzy and gets them to ignore the fact that things are shitty and not getting better by generations?
>>
What is the point in separating and dividing people into generation stereotypes?
>>
The generation label idea is fucking retarded. The idea that one year difference in when you're born makes your personality entirely distinct might be one of the stupidest fucking things people still believe.

signed, a person who is too old to be posting on this comic book web site with a bunch of children
>>
>>85874725
Depends on what age range is considered "growing up," but I'd lean millennials.

The late 90's-early 2000's were a better time to turn on the TV and watch what was on, after 2010 we started to hit higher peaks, both times are orders of magnitude better than 2005-2009.

wew
>>
>>85885852
So does that mean '97/ '98 kids can like pick the generation because this whole thing confuses the hell out of me. I mean at this point I think anyone over 30 just call us millennials when they complain about us. Shit I'm a sophomore in college and if I talk to friends who are seniors you can tell just how drastically different a few years had on us growing up
>>
Is millennial just a (I hate to say this) buzz word? I mean it just seems like the word to use when complaining with the younger generation
>>
>>85874725
I know this is bait but,

>12-18 years old
>self reliant
>realist
>self-aware
>innovative

It's like you've never even heard of what a teenager is.
>>
>>85889429
It's kind of a buzzword for The Young People, but it's somehow been extended to whatever range economists and advertisers want. Are you under 40? You're probably a Millennial to some people.
>>
The mid 90s to the mid 00s were CN and Nick in their prime. Cartoons made during this time had more talent working on them and in general there was more variety of both new and old programming on air.

It has nothing to do with generations.
>>
>>85883758
>Gen Z
>therapy
No, they're being told all their mental problems are perfectly fine and normal and anyone who dares suggest they might need help is a terrible oppressor trying to stifle their individuality.

Also:
>hard work

Cartoons in the 80's was the golden era. I say gen X
>>

No, probably a bronze era but not the golden era.

That belong to the 40s with Looney Tunes and such.

IMO

Gen Y is the last generation born before internet. Gen Z are millennials and should die in a fire.
