It hurt me quite terribly.
It had an absolutely unique and special feeling of wonder and adventure to it, and was brimming with more potential than I'd ever seen in one place before. He blew it, it crashed and burned. But the hole in my heart will never heal.
Nothing makes me more depressed than listening to a piece of music like Sburban Jungle or Homestuck Anthem now, knowing what used to be, and what ended up happening with it. I haven't felt this sad in years.

It's not a bad comic, no, that's the kicker. Only about one-tenth of it is bad. The tail end declines in quality very sharply and the climax simply never presents itself. It just abruptly ends.
But the ride to that point, over six long years of excitement and promise, causes you a lot more hurt when you're lead to believe it's a consistently magical experience that keeps its promises. If you read the comic from start to finish, you only have a couple of weeks or so to lose. It's better to have read Homestuck and been betrayed than to not have read Homestuck at all. But we lost seven years.

I can only speak for myself, but it tears me up inside looking at the amazing early parts and knowing how it doesn't amount to anything. I definitely hate it because it betrayed my emotional attachment so callously. I could have forgiven almost everything wrong with the later parts of the story (short of Vriska's revival and the retcon) if the ending had offered any kind of closure.

Out of all the endings I've seen, Homestuck's ending was the worst.
At least most endings resolve everything as satisfyingly as it possible can. Homestuck's ending was as if in the middle of cumming while having good sex, my dick and balls got ripped off. I didn't ask for it and I'm left bewildered as to why it even fucking happened. Some endings left me with blue balls, but Homestuck's ending was just fucking beyond that for me.
