You're right, but that's not really the problem here. The problem is exactly what Garnet showed with Ruby and Sapphire. Ruby was getting wound up in her little problem and didn't notice Sapphire under a vortex of issues.

It's not that Connie's problems or her feeling about them should be invalid, it's that she got so wound up in them, she forgot to pay attention to the people around her who were hurting much worse, and really could have used some help.

I don't get why anyone would be annoyed about the situation though since that was the entire point of the episode and was resolved in the end.

It has at least some kind of basis. I mean the episode did show that Steven's problems were way heavier than Connies, but the point that the process for dealing with it was the same, this episode was meant to be the 'first step' to fixing Stevens guilt over these things, but it's not going to be taken care of in one episode.

The whole point of Garnets song was basically just "Don't fall apart agonizing over things you've done, it's fine to take your time and think over what happened calmly, and you can share your thoughts with others, for them to help you heal over stuff like this."

I don't think that's the precise message. Steven didn't show bad signs until Connie already dealt with her issues so the whole "her problem dustracted her from Steven's" wasn't really the issue here. It was more about mutual understanding as also self-observstion to be able to see your issues from affar to get the whole picture and deal with them better.

Connie's way of solving her issue has put Steven in the right part to face his own. But being such heavy stuff it may take a bit more work. The dimension of theur problems is different but they were un the same predicament of beating themselves over it instead of facing it.

I don't see many of that offended people to be honest. What if scenarios usually have more freedom and are even insightful to see what could have been if the known event of the cgaracters weren't so lucky or so rough to them. Lots of aleatory circumstances make us pick a choice among a billion posibilities that we never be able to explore but fiction is flexible and open. That possibility for amusement of those with enough interest and creativity.

Canon or what IS helps us to stablish the basic persinalities of the characters and the reality they live in but if their reality is flexible so are their choices. I love Steven and Connie's relationship and growing battle partnership but there's a million ways that could have turned out completely different.

Even the creators aren't completely immune to this and is common practice for them to alter their original vision according to the new udeas they get from inspiration, advice from others or foreign sources. Pilot Steven is remarkably different to his final version in certain aspects.

Canon is important but i think taking it as gospel truth to be a waste of potential.
