I always thought Marvel was pretty simple. You have a reality that includes earth and the observable universe. Each reality contains alternate dimensions in addition to the observable universe (microverse, negative zone, Asgard, Olympus, Avalon, etc.). And then you have infinite amount of realities comprising the multiverse. And you have an infinite amount of multiverses comprising the omniverse.

This newly updated chart is interesting but confusing

It says the Infinity Gems have multiversal levels of power, but I thought the Infinity Gems only work in their own universe of origin (and there's a different set for each reality)

Well for one, this is just an unfinished work-in-progress that the anon making it posted for feedback. Part of why it's confusing is because it's literally not done. There's some stuff that's just floating around and unconnected because he hadn't gotten to them yet.

Also this is less about "levels of power" and more about just what their origins are relative to the marvel omniverse. Reed is currently God, but he's still classified as being from Earth because that's where he's from, even if he did transcend beyond his station.

So with that in mind, the reason the infinity gems are where they are is because of their origins. Before there was anything, there was "The Infinity Being" who because of loneliness or what have you, split himself apart into the first universe and the remnants of his power became the infinity gems, so the Infinity Being (of which the infinity gems are a byproduct of) was a being from the outer void that gave birth to the first universe which then continued splitting off into a multiverse.

Make sense? The Infinity Gems themselves each only work within their respective universes, but all infinity gems are just splintered off from the Infinity Being, and the Infinity Being originated from the outer void before becoming Universe.

Presently the Marvel Multiverse got wiped out during Everything Ends, and post Secret Wars the Richards family stayed outside of reality, rebuilding the multiverse with the help of the Molecule Man using Reed and Valerie's knowledge of everything science that would be needed to rebuild, Sue's passion to make sure each recreated universe has heart and passion and then finally Franklin just creates what they have put togeather and they slingshot it out to fill up more of the void. Reese keeps splitting himself off with each new universe to act as an anchor to hold it all together because he now has seemingly limitless power after Doom got him hopped up on Beyonder power.

And people keep trying to say the F4 are dead, haha.

It must be said that he looked that way because he chose to look that way whilst interacting with humans. He went through a number of forms before settling on that one for a while, but it was always just a meat-suit he was wearing rather than something intrinsic to his being.

I started the thread more as a discussion started and because I have been away from Marvel since Thanos Imperative and have no idea whats happening anymore

After catching up with Ultimates and New Avengers I saw Ewing throwing around a bunch of crazy Cosmic nonsense that I didn't recognize like The Neutral Zone, Superflows and Cthulu Wizards from like five universes ago so I figured I needed to catch up

Cosmic has always been my favorite part of Marvel but I sort of took a break from comics for a few years and only recently got back in

Neutral Zone and Superflow (Newuniversal #1. February, 2007)are slightly older ideas.

Neutral Zone aka Exo-Space is essentially the furthest removed from any reality you can get before you leave Eternity entirely

Superflow is basically the realm of dreams and the origin for telepathy.

Cthulhu Wizard was an original Ewing creation. Time Runs Out killed off a lot of the heavy cosmic hitters at Marvel so there's a bit of a power vacuum that needs filling.

Also worth mentioning is the White-Hot room. It's where all souls go when they die, and implied where all souls are drawn from. the Phoenix Force is its caretaker and administrator.

Ewing introduced the idea that the current Marvel Universe is in its 8th incarnation. Pre-Secret wars was it's 7th. The one before that is the one where Galactus originally came from, where he was just a man named Galan that ended up being the last survivor, picked up by the Pheonix Force and transformed into the Devourer of Worlds to keep Abraxas at bay.

We have little to no information about what 616-1 through 5 were like.
