I liked the repulsive grossout humor.

>>85837280

Nice implications.
Too disgusting.
Animators forget that it's not the gross-out that made Ren & Stimpy great, it's the wonderful animation and amazing acting. The gross-out was just cheap laughs, and it doesn't work on its own.
The show was extremely good.
I'm surprised how underrated it was.
>>85836117
I liked everything besides that part.
Bessie a cute. I think she was one of the earliest quirky animated female leads in the same vein of Star. It's great when girls dont have to be so fucking perfect all the time.
I liked it but it was definitely a show I would only watch if nothing else was on.

last genuinely good Nickelodeon show before The Loud House came out
I remember a scene about getting into a "flow" in video games, and I used to have a webm for it.
I remember more, of course, but that one scene was always cool, to me.

>>85836080
Never really watched it. Don't have a huge problem with gross out humor, but I think if you base the whole show around it, it gets old real fast. Not to mention I remember the voices being terribly annoying.
>>85836080
>>85836117
>>85838708
Pretty much "Ren and Stimpy" for girls.
I think a few R&S alumni worked on that show as well.
>>85836117
The part gave me the creeps first time I saw it.
>>85859235
Yes, Erick Wiese, the show runner helped John K. animate that one Bjork music video. What was it called?
>>85857507
Was the whole show reeeally centered around gross out humor?
I remember the first season being somewhat focused on characters and their interactions. Bessie has many adorable and heartwarming moments or even her brother mental issues.
>>85860116
>Was the whole show reeeally centered around gross out humor?
no, that's just someone being a cherry picking cunt
Why was this episode banned again
>>85836080
I personally hate Bessie because she's like a human spongebob.
Episodes that revolve around her involve her failing at everything, but episodes that revolve around the squidward (re: Portia) will have her be so intensely annoying and perfect at everything
>>85860393
>someone
More like it's they main complain of all the anons that disliked it.
>>85836080
Annoying wannabe Ren & Stimpy/10
Amy Poehler should do more voice work.
>>85860562
Was it banned? Why?
They aired it on my country if I'm remembering correctly
>>85860393
I can recall more than a single instance where the show pretended to be raunchy actually. not so much outright gross as pointed above mind you (though there were some moments that stuck out more than others certainly) but that's the main vibe I got from it.
>>85860597
Female Patrick just makes me want to punch her, slow retard humor is not funny is just annoying
>>85860711
Yeah, something about the vibe of the show made you wait for the gross out more often that it really was.
Sometimes they tried really really hard to make you chuckle at something and it got old very quickly .
Super-fun to look at. The show had a lot of really solid cartooning.
I love how they took the "stuck-up popular girl" stereotype & they allowed her to do wild, cartoony expressions & the like. For some reason a lot of shows act like they aren't allowed to get creative or have fun with that type of character.
The writing varied a lot, but there were only a few that I would call outright "bad" episodes. I think the biggest flaw was the voice acting; every main character has a really over-the-top voice & that's grating to a lot of people.
>>85859456
"I Miss You".
Bill Wray also worked on the show as a background designer and director, and also did all the gross-out paintings.
Is this show still on Amazon Prime? I may just pick it back up.
>>85860408
Oh yeah! The show was gonna be called Superscout.
Forget the gross out humor. I just LOVE how expressive it can get. Mainly Bessie.
>>85860562
>>85860709
Yeah, it aired here too.Was it really banned? It's from second season so maybe it just wasn't aired just like most of that season.
Oh, the music video for that episode is very good.
>human spongebob
I feel that's just superficial judging. I mean sure there are similarities but Bessie is an actual character, not just a copy of Spongebob.
>>85860597
Bullshit. There's plenty episodes and instances where Bessie succeeds at what she tries along with failures. Mainly Bessie is a control freak that tries even too hard to overachieve stuff, it's subjective but her sheer enthusiasm is endearing to me.
Also Portia was many times shown to be pretty flawed and fail.
>>85860734
I do admit that Penny is most of the time annoying, but even she got some character focus, remember the episode about her birthday?
>implying you ever saw this
It's where the original concept of Mighty B! comes from:
http://www.cc.com/video-clips/7urmqw/upright-citizens-brigade-unabomber
>>85860689
This. I know I'm the minority but I like Bessie's voice.
>>85861242
Oh yeah, Bill Wray's work in the show is outstanding. He also did all the title cards.
>>85862189
Bah.
The 3 co-creators of the show are SNL comedian Amy Pohler, Fairly Odd Parents writer Cynthia True, and True's husband, Erik Weise (artist at spumco in the late 90's, writer/boarder for season 1 of spongebob, boarder for season 2, writer/boarder for Samurai Jack, and writer/board director for season 4 of spongebob)
>>85862480
Yup. The show is mainly the result of the three's ideas and effors. The characters and setting/concept comes from Saturday Night Live's Amy Poehler, as seen in the sketch linked above.
Erick Wiese also worked in Catdog, one (or two) Ren and Stimpy APC episodes and the Bjork music video. But I didn't know he worked in Samurai Jack.
>>85862459

I thought it was actually kind of oddly cute and the theme song was catchy
Bessie is too adorable.

Yeah, It really should have lasted longer. How Is Parks and Recreations?
>that episode with special guest voice Dan "get in my windowless van" Schneider
>>85872067
Most of the production art is from Bill Wray's personal blog
>>85872067
Katie Rice posted these in her blog around 2007/2008-ish. She worked as a freelance storyboarder for at least three episodes, It's B's party, Awww-some and this one about bad karma(Bee nice?) and it really shows her art style. She posted them after the episode aired.
Back then I was obsessed with her work and also Mighty B! so I searched around the net.
I'm not the anon who posted the title cards and backgrounds though, but those are in Bill Wray's blog, they are easier to find.
>>85872063
No problem. Yeah, they are incomplete, As you can guess from the filenames. Katie's blog had a thecnical issue sometime ago and a lot of posts she made got erased and also her hard drive so they got lost.
When I saved them they were already incomplete. A damn shame.
Surprisingly the show had great songs.

Mighty B's gross out humor was very infrequent actually.
I rewatched it a couple of years ago under the pretense of that being what I mostly remembered about it but I discovered the show often goes several episodes at a time without a single such joke. Ren & Stimpy has a lot more of it
>>85882964
Indeed. The groos-out was quite far between.
The show neede more Portia.
>>85883447

>both the protagonist and the antagonist girl have buck teeth
Huh, I just noticed that.
>>85881573
1) it's way less frequent
2) it's rare that a show with a female focus (most of the writers were female) to have that much crude humor in the first place
>>85881573
The show is actually adorable and not just a joke of its former self.
>le gross out humor
If anything, Mighty B! had a focus on being cartoony, not gross.
Mighty B! fucking sucked

>>85884184
Bullshit.
Mighty B!'s characters were fairly interesting.
>characters were ugly
>style was/is atrocious
>horribly designed protagonist
>disgusting color palette
Subjective. The style combines older, more minimalist cartoon styles like UPA and the sort with a more flexible one to great effect. The character designs are serviceable.
Bill Wray's collor palette works great for the aesthetic.
>too much gross out humor that loses all shock value
This is bullshit too. The gross out is nowhere nearly as prevalent that people make it out to be. Many episodes go without any of it, they are far between.

>>85894148
Personally, I loved it. It's funny and the characters are loveable, but I can understand it not being to everybody's taste.
Yeah, her character is basically an adult Bessie.
>>85894148
Season 1 is a terrible Office clone but after that it's a pretty damn solid feel-good network sitcom, and that description of her character isn't far off. The characters/actors are great and memorable and the jokes aren't afraid to be a little niche or offbeat.plus girls like it a lot so it's a prime programming pick for chillin with tinder babes
Overall I'd put it in the same category as Bob's Burgers, it appeals to much the same sensibility (which means it's a little quirky so people will be polarized on it)
