I like X2 better but I suppose I respect the opinion. Tone-wise I think only Batman Begins and Cap 1 match it. Execution-wise I like X2 because it's probably the only time we've seen characters embrace their powers as I imagined it would look like on screen. Specifically wolverine going apeshit in the mansion and Xavier stopping time the two or three times he did it. Nightcrawler in the WH was fucking legendary. Then it had shit like Bobby's familam and Jason's backstory in it which were really well placed and written. But SM2 was cum-worthy as well.

Watchmen was pretty boring. Pretty much a 1:1 translation of the comic, which honestly didn't work half the time.

Sadly it is the only comic book movie that Synder ever remotely did well with.

I loved the Dark Knight, but it wasn't really something I wanted to watch twice.

The characters in the Dark Knight were pretty one-note. They fit the movie and worked well but they weren't nearly as satisfying as the characters in Spider-Man 2.

Alfred was amazing. Probably the best character out of all the Dark Knight movies.

Rachel was a throwaway character. Her presence was never really all that important. Sure, she was Bruce's love, but she was never integral to the story like MJ. Her death wasn't particularly saddening to me. She definitely wasn't missed in TDKR.

Harvey was a bit underutilized. The Joker, while a great villain, does not have the same weight to Raimi's Dr. Ock.

It can be hard to really relate to Bruce Wayne. He's rich, handsome, and famous. He doesn't have to worry about his Bruce life, his only real struggle is with the Batman life. Spider-Man struggles on multiple levels, as he has to deal with failing grades, financial issues, losing the love his life, his best friend turning against him, his insecurities, and to top it all off his failing powers. Quite honestly, Peter is a dweeb while Bruce is charismatic and charming.

Batman is the ultimate overdog. When it comes to defeating the Joker, he has all the tools to deal with him. Unlimited money, gadgets, vehicles, supporting cast members, etc.

Raimi's Spider-Man has the edge in superpowers, but he's fighting against another powerful adversary. He's still the underdog in most of these fights, with the Green Goblin from the first movie with a tech advantage and with Doc Ock being a physical powerhouse with exceptional intellect.
