Ok, maybe Ramos will be alright this time...
>>
>>85784391
>It appears to be Marvel Comics’ plan to make Champions #1 by Mark Waid and Humberto Ramos the best-selling comic book in October.

>This is how they are going to do it. Retailers who match 200% of a retailer’s order of All-New All-Different Avengers #9, the one that featured the first new Wasp, will get 15% extra discount. 175% will get 10% extra and 150% will get 5% extra off.

>Those who match 200% can then order on top of that the Skottie Young cover, the Champions Variant cover, Hip Hop, Blank, both the Spider-Man and Hulk and the Johnny Blaze John Tyler Christopher action figure covers.

>They can also get the Champions party gear, 100 postcards, 20 lithographs, Champions pins….

>And one copy of the Party variant.

>While the Alex Ross cover is 1:100. The Captain America 75th anniversary cover is 1:50. And a 1:1000 variant – no details but could the odds be it’s by Joe Quesada? He does do these…

>Oh and the exclusive retailer cover availability, which adds 3000 to 4500 on for each comic shop that picks it up

>The only things that can get in the way? Teen Titans #1. The Clone Conspiracy #1. Civil War II #7. But they don’t have a lot of the things that Champions has – specifically that retailer exclusive cover.

>I wonder what Loot Crate will be up to in October?

They already said at one of the panels at SDCC that Robbie would be appearing in the book at some point.

I think Waid's a good writer, but I'm worried that this book might be intensely stupid, having a bunch of superheroes trying to deal with societal ills in their brightly colored costumes with their flashy superpowers.

You can't punch racism in the face. You can't pick up a car and smash it over the head of poverty. You can't crash through a skylight and stomp on the face of corporate corruption.

I'm not saying you should avoid these subjects 100%, but there's a fine line between tackling the subject matter in a fashion that's appropriate to the superhero milieu and being full of fucking bullshit
>>
>>85785006
You're trying to say that The Avengers have no possible way that they could invest in fixing the community after fights, except for Iron-man. That is totally ridiculous. They most definitely have the means to do something more than leave it to unions.
Also, the original post I replied to has it as a negative that Kamala is leaving. So we apparently agree that she should do something herself, which she is.

Waid, you fucking Grandpa. This is not original. You are not original.

Literally hundreds of people have made this observation. It literally has been acknowledged and explored through many many writers (it was a plotpoint in the Power Puff Girls movie).

It's like when someone tries to say "Hey, did you know Pokemon is like cock fighting?". Everyone has already made the comparison/joke.

While we're all getting hyped up for Champions (kind of lukewarm to Kamala's attitude so far to be honest, I don't know what she expects to happen to magically fix the truck or the train tracks)

We're also nearing the end of the first year of Marvel's first total across-the-line relaunch of every single title they've had in their 50+ years.

What parts of All New All Different Marvel have you been enjoying so far /co/? Most of the new Champions got a good deal of exposure this past year

I've enjoyed Vision and New Avengers and was pleasantly surprised by Carol's book being servicable this time around. Oh and Bunn's Uncanny is leagues and bounds above the other two X-books as it is actually ok.
That's about it.
>>
>>85786368
I just wish I knew what she expects to happen. Unless she wants to invest in its repairs (which the Avengers don't have the money to afford atm), or take time out of her schedule heroing to help fix it herself (which is not going to be fast given she has no idea how to repair shit, plus it means there could be trouble elsewhere she's letting happen), it seems pointless to bitch about it and then throw such a fit you quit the Avengers over it.

You just saved hundreds of lives, take some goddamn pride in that.

So that's 5-6 white people versus 3 non-whites (Sam Wilson, Kamala, Miles).

Wow, I am not enjoying this preview. I loved Waid's F4. His plots and character moments are legit. He's a good writer. But this is awful. It reads as a contrivance to get her to start with a new team. rather than a natural or clever progression based on the characters.

Not really enjoying this art, either. The whole thing is seriously awkward to read.

Does the New Avenger's get better? Couldn't get into the first few issues because of the art and layouts and the story wasn't doing much for me either. But I felt the same about Uncanny Avenger's, but I've just read the Hank-Ultron story and it's some class stuff. Best Avenger's book out, I'd say.
>>
>>85788129
>Does the New Avenger's get better?
New Avengers is great. One of Marvel's best books.

Though, for clarification, you're asking about New Avengers and not All-new All-different Avengers, right? There seems to be large contingent of people who don't realise that New Avengers and ANAD Avengers aren't the same book.
>>
>>85788171

Yeah, New. I guess I'm asking: does it change, cause I didn't like it to begin with (but know everyone is saying it's great)?
>>
>>85788262
Not really? I mean, Sandoval only does about half the issues, but then, I love Sandoval's art so him being on it actually was a plus for me.

I'd say go and check out Contest of Champions and Ultimates since they're also written by Ewing and really good. If you like them then go back and read New Avengers. If Ultimates and CoC don't do anything for you, then chances are you don't like Ewing enough to put up with art that isn't to your taste.
>>
>>85784545
About time. Kamala really shouldn't be on any teams, period.

They got stuck and could not be sent back, so now they're hanging around in our time.

Cyclops in Champions is the time-displaced teenager, not the Cyclops who got epic BTFO by Black Bolt

She's saying heroes could do more. It's a nice take that makes sense for street level characters. They're suddenly on a team with more power, so they want to use that power to help the community more. It's called going above and beyond the norm. And that refers to the norm for supers and not the norm for an average joe.
>>
>>85787086
The average /co/ user cares more about anatomy than any other part of the art for comics. They don't care for paneling or layouts. Personally I think Ramos brings a lot of energy which makes sense for a book focusing on young heroes.

>>
>>85787400
I'm supporting it cause I'm interested in the team and seeing what happens with each character and how they interact with each other. I enjoy the idea where they go off and do their own thing apart from the avengers, but I can understand how others might not or might see it as "MUH TEENAGE REBELLION", cause it sort of is that.
My hope is that they're allowed time to explore the team, the characters, and etc. without rushing into things due to events or what not.
Shipping would only be enjoyable if the source actually drives me to do so.

The adult versions have all had horrible lives with tragic fates befalling them and ruin and whatnot, giving them a second chance is a nice idea.

Marvel in general is pushing this weird idea that their heroes should be held accountable for shit they have no hope of controlling. It'd be one thing if it was just adversity for the characters to go through but Marvel seems to be pushing this as a completely legitimate argument. I mean it was basically the whole plot of the Civil War movie. People expecting heroes to eliminate collateral damage or to somehow repair everything that breaks when they fight is pants on head retarded.

Not really. In Civil War the Avengers were just busting into countries and having fist fights with bad guys carrying unknown biological weapons in the middle of their cities.

The never made any effort to minimize the possibility of civilian casualties or, for all we know, an extinction level event.

The Avengers need someone to listen to their plans and tell them when they're being fucking dumb. Generally speaking, the guy punching the bad guys in the face is in a shit position to be overseeing all operations. They need a frigging boss.

Crossbones was about to steal a biological nerve agent that could kill hundreds or maybe even thousands of people depending on where it was released. Thanks to the Avengers, what like 18 people died? And in the other instances where they acted they saved the world from ending. Cap makes several plans to minimize casualties in the first Avengers movie, and the casualty numbers were laughably low in all the situations they were in. There is no way you can say having them interfere is a bad thing and the government only wanted to have them in their pocket.

That's a false argument, and you know it.
Filling in a pothole is pure strawman argument, but what's your argument against one of them moving the food truck out of the rubble so it can at least get towed? That's someone's livelyhood.
And what about all those people in the derailed traincars now left stranded on the tracks? It morally wrong to help them down to ground level?
How is it the right thing to do to just fly away and wait for Carnage to go on a rampage?
When they're rescuing someone's cat from a burning apartmen building and a Celestial named Lormat The Pedestrian Stomper shows up, it's not as if they're going to ignore the giant monster.

>>
>>85800468
Yeah pretty much the only way marvel heros have it better is there loved ones dont die as often.

Which is not that big a deal with the slow death of supporting characters
>>
>>85800385
There's plenty of dumb superheroes out there.
( I actually like that KidNova seems to be growing up to become one.)
The worst was Speedball, but gay or not Iceman was always an idiot, in fact lots of X-Men background characters are morons, half of the FantasticFour, Punisher's no rocket scientist - he just uses rockets on occasion, Hercules, The GreatLakes Defenders, Doc Strange doesn't count as a brainiac because his fields are specialized, and Luke Cage is just street-wise.
But all-in-all you want your heros smart in the Marvel U.

>I said they aren't qualified to deal with injured people. That's just a fact.
What if they can heal people? I bet healers could deal with injured people. Superman can close and cauterize a wound.
>>
>>85800551
Well that and the aformentioned meta stuff yeah
>>
>>85800441
>I said they aren't qualified to deal with injured people. That's just a fact.

Well some of the heroes are medics and paramedics, pretty sure heroes like Thor, Strange and Night Nurse know how to handle injured people since they have medical training.

Heroes with super speed can bring civilians with medical training to help those injured, it's really not that hard.
>>
>>85800571
Plus Captain America DOES know first aide.
Steve as part of his military training and Sam as part of his missionary work and Avengers training.
>>
>>85800612
I Like nightmare nurse shes slutfire done right and her powerset has interesting potential

>Superman can close and cauterize a wound.

Yeah, let's go around using eye beams to melt closed all the wounds of everyone on the train. Sounds like a great idea. You know what injured people don't react well to? Someone setting part of them on fire to help them out. I'm sure that feels great, by the way. Don't want to wait for some bandages to show up.

>>85800612
>Thor, and 2 people not there.

So they have one nurse. Wew. I guess she's just wasting her time fighting bad guys when she can be assisting a doctor.

>>85800612
>Heroes with super speed can bring civilians with medical training to help those injured, it's really not that hard.

Really. So where you gonna find these civilians with medical training? You going to take a doctor out of a hospital? You going to grab a few ambulances going around doing ambulance things without checking with anybody?

I'm sure that the person who called 911 would just love to hear that the ambulance and medical help dispatched to their house hijacked cause some superhero wanted to be helpful.

How about they instead let emergency services do what emergency services do and follow emergency services plans and take care of the emergency they need to service?

Maybe he's going to speed over to the nearest army base and steak a few dozen medics without asking anyone? They don't get to have a say on who goes where? "hold up flash-hole, I need to pick up my son from daycare, it's Tom's day on call.

So superspeedsters going to go through the paperwork and make sure he's not fucking over a few dozen people when he's "trying to help?" a few dozen others? That sounds great. He can superspeed to dispatch and superspeed through the on call roster and then superspeed to all their houses to check if they're actually ready and not taking a shit.

Even on-call doesn't mean "right now". It means in human time and speed. You gotta hope that having the Flash up your ass doesn't make you forget to grab your go-bag.

>Steve as part of his military training and Sam as part of his missionary work and Avengers training.

"Avengers training"

I had basic first aid in the army. You know what that qualifies me to do when I stumble upon an injured person? Jack shit. If you're on fire I'll try to put you out. Other than that I'm leaving you the fuck alone unless you're gushing blood at which point I'll leave you alone from further away.

And I'm sure that Steve's 80 year old first AID training is a big help to people. You think he's carrying around leeches or whatever in the fuck they did back in the stone age? I think CPR back then was "beat with club, beg animal spirits to return ghost."
>>
>>85801175
>And I'm sure that Steve's 80 year old first AID training is a big help to people.

Wow I'm sure that he never fucking updates his training. What fucking bullshit.
>>
>>85801263
Don't bother arguing with him. He's the same shitposter who trolled the last two Champions threads to death.
Just report him when he makes his personal attacks.

>basically done with Marvel
>still interested in this and USAvengers

Kamala, Sam, Cho have all been good, Visions was good, and Miles has been somewhat starting to get a defined character since coming to the 616.

It's crazy to me the Original X-men stuff is still going on.
>>
>>85801107
>Wrew. I guess she's just wasting her time fighting bad guys when she can be assisting a doctor.
She can do both and they can get Strange nd Night Nurse easily

>Really. So where you gonna find these civilians with medical training? You going to take a doctor out of a hospital? You going to grab a few ambulances going around doing ambulance things without checking with anybody?

It's a world with superheroes so it would be stupid not to think they have an extra medical team on standby for these kind of things in different facilities, duh.

I can already tell this is going to be one of those books where people will be rolling their eyes continuously at the dumb shit these teenagers come up with - like they're the first ones to have an idealized view of the world and want to do something more than punch things in the face. And of course these teens are going to fancy themselves as revolutionaries before status quo reverts them back into the basic heroes they were before their big epiphany of being "better".

We've been here before. And we'll be there again. and again. and again.

Story would have potential, skrull milk could make Kamala's power go terribly wrong.
The skrull milk hasn't been entirely destroyed, as far as I remember?

Bova was one of my favorite character as a kid, too bad she hasn't been used much.

I remember writing a fanfiction about her becoming a teacher at the X-men school. I've lost the script long ago (and nothing of value, etc.).

Unless you're going to beat-up all corrupt CEO's in the world, arrest them for life without a trial and keep them isolated from the rest of the world, then you really can't do shit about it.
