On occasion, when it benefits him and/or is funny.
But in the long term no, he's the anti-Batman, so he's multiple people pretending to be one.

That sounds like the kind of reasoning behind Johns stupidity.
Pretty worthy of a casual that doesnt read batman comics, good job.

yeah, a timeline where after Year 1, Batman had quickly won the war on crime. Alfred was afraid Bruce would end up offing himself due to ennui, so engineered the birth of supervillainy in Gotham so that Batman would still be needed

You mean the one where the actor portraying the Riddler loses his shit, holds a bunch of children hostage in a Zoo, and ultimately shoots and kills Batman when he comes to save the kids? (In his defense he does save them, although it's a bummer he gets shot and killed)
That was an interesting story in that particular comic.
I liked the exchange where the Joker comes to the funeral, parks the Joker-Mobile, and lectures the punky little hustler hanging around in the alley about how he isn't going to kill him or anything because it just wouldn't be FUNNY, and anyway, he already paid him a fair amount to park the car.

If it was Alfred the entire time then I would seriously doubt the whole "greatest detective" thing.
