Well, stuff before CCA would probably be popular. Instead of capes, we'd have fuckload of soldiers, zombie soldiers, robot soldiers, soldiers in love, detective soldiers and such.

All DC western characters are top tier. Don't know about Marvel western characters though, I've never read them.

Shade literally has a nemesis called The American Scream and fights stand-ins for social problems.


Just because Shade is fighting a stand in for the never resolved grief of the JFK assassination while Superman is fighting a stand in for the arms race-- doesnt make Shade any less of a cape.
